It has been a month since our last update but we've been working just as hard as ever on Stars End, and we can finally release our new features to the testing community!
The servers are back online! This update has required a database wipe. Due to the amount of changes we'll be keeping a close eye on the game and releasing hot-fixes as necessary over the next couple days.
Game Update v0.540
Revamped Planets Janson and Tigon have been redesigned from the ground up, including new Terrain, Biomes, Roads, Towns and several other handcrafted locations. Players are now able to survive and loot on both worlds with adequate resources available. (although building on Janson wont be easy until we add our Concrete Tier of Building Materials)
Space Flight Space Flight has been revamped with 5 defined speed modes and improved speed handling. Ships will now detect what type of environment you are in and adjust speeds accordingly. New features added such as slowing down when close to the ground and UI fixes on the vehicles. • Many bug fixes and handling issues addressed. • New vehicle: The Janson Frigate. Players will get a chance to fly the JansonFrigate during a mission early on in the story. Another version of this Frigate which will support several passengers is arriving shortly.
Commercial Radio No longer will you have to do the long haul between Janson and Tigon in silence. With the introduction of 5 radio stations to Stars End, players can finally travel in style! Cycle through stations or even turn the radio off! Most vehicles come with a Radio already equipped. But that's not all folks, an even larger selection of the Future's Greatest Hits will be arriving asap!
Hazards Hazard system created and enabled on Tigon. Players now must find a Respirator, wear protective Gear or eat a herb called Diplazite in intervals, found throughout the environment, to protect yourself against poison deadly gasses!
Main Menu & Game Options • Options have been implemented with graphics, audio and keybinding tabs with options stored locally on your PC. • Several new graphics and audio options are available. • Main menu and escape menu now share same options menu/settings. • Improved layouts with more options added such as 'Go Back', Game Announcements and visual enhancements throughout.
Base building & Storage Foundations have been removed and replaced with Floors. Place craftable Floors on the ground or snap them together to build your own custom foundation. Other base pieces have been adjusted to fit this new way of building. • Storage Containers are now available in the crafting menu and placeable on your LandClaim. Containers support 100 stacks of items at a time, and have no weight limit (although theres a very good chance we could revise this down the road.) • Loot Access Points are no longer craftable for your base but still exist in the environment.
Ladders Ladder System created and ladder objects added throughout the Tigon environment (they will be craftable soon enough!) This feature has only just arrived so we'll be paying attention for any issues here once we go live.
Misc • Voice Chat - completely new proximity voice chat system implemented and customizable via keybinding options. • Changes to harvesting and crafting. Animations and audio now play for the set time it takes to create/retrieve the items. • Path selection removed after Character Creation - leading all new players directly towards the Titan ship stationed near Janson. Players have the option to leave the story and travel in any direction at any time, unlocking spawns, building and fighting, as you explore the system. • Several bug fixes for Horses • New grass rendering system created and implemented on major planets. You'll see a general improvement in visuals across most major planets so far. • Pistol movement has been reanimated in order for improved visuals when equipping a pistol in First Person mode. • Many new item icons fixed or added. • Plus countless other bug fixes and improvements throughout Stars End.

Thanks to the community who have been providing lots of good information to track down and solve many of the major bugs and issues in Stars End! We are making good progress but there still are a few major issues to solve before we can look at adding more continent, (New Vehicles, Quests & AI Types).
Another major focus moving forward will be improved visuals. We plan to solve a few of these issues in a short time, such as improved oceans, higher density/performance in ground details like grass, and improved textures and lighting across the board. Some of you have requested a new Hyper-speed visuals for Space Vehicles and that's also something we would like to look at as soon as we can!

We've seen a lot of you log in today and has been great discovering other players around the environment, finally! In other news the servers have not (yet) crashed!
We will be releasing updates frequently over the next few days as we patch up the major issues that any of you come across.
Also, we will be soon adding player created screenshots to our loading screens. Requirements are the screenshots are at least 1920 x 1080 with the HUD disabled. Drop them into our discord at: https://discord.gg/starsend
After a brief delay, that was totally outside of our control (we get to blame Windows update, hardware failure, and all hardware stores being closed for Christmas) - we are finally live!
So restart Steam to make sure you have the new SE update (over 1GB) - and lets get playing.
We recommend that you play the game on our main official server - it should be able to handle all of the players at once. But if you like - can can also click on Create Server button in the main menu, to either create your own singleplayer game, or host a public server.
Official server will be online in 5 hours or so!
Keep in mind - you have to play the game in English, localization is a total WIP.
Also for now - while entire solar system is there and explorable (using Ferry network) or by flying a space ship, survival type of gameplay is only possible on Beta Prairie atm. So we hope to see everyone surviving, and fighting in Beta Prarie.
Also for the first playthrough, we highly recommend you start the game with a tutorial (Outlander scenario) - it also shows some mid to late game content, that will take you hours and hours of survival gameplay on Beta Prairie to see.
Also - unless it`s something absolutely game breaking - no need to post bug reports just yet, we have a list of 300 or so bugs that we hope to get through over the next couple of weeks, at that point we`ll start asking players for bugs and feedback.
So yeah - lets get it started, and we`r hoping this pre-EA launch goes better than Atlas. That already is a milestone...:)
The time for a playable build release is approaching. Though I do have doubts about releasing it this Friday... looks like we might be couple of days behind. In any event, it`s time to start distributing the keys, as it will take us a few days to reply to everyone. We do hope to see couple of hundreds players take part in this round of testing.
Keep in mind the game will not work until it`s live in a few days.
Thanks for your help during these early development days! Keep in mind that this key - is yours forever, and gives access to the game for good - right now, through early access, and onto the final release.
We`ll keep you posted on our progress as we are wrapping up the Steam build.
We have some very exciting news. After months of undercover work, we are finally bringing back the public build. We won`t get the hype train started though and describe all what awaits you... we`ll let you be the judge of what was accomplished during that period.
But keep in mind - the build that we`ll be releasing is far from even being called a pre-alpha. We still have a long way to go until Early Access lunch next year.
But the time has come where we really need to start testing out parts of the game, especially player relations, pvp, crafting and various server related issues.
And well - James and I can`t wait to play the game together with you guys!
Will keep you posted - and as of now ETA stands somewhere between a week to two weeks.
It`s been a while... We`ve been busy, with rewrite of the game - from the game world to presentation.
We are finally getting to a good point where we will be ready to release another test build on Steam, aiming for the end of August. Lets say August 25th.
Also I think we can say with some degree of confidence that we should be ready to launch Early Access towards the end of the year.
Meanwhile - here`s three new screenshots to show our progress. Mores update and information to be revealed in August.
