Hey Everyone,

It`s been quite here lately as we`ve been working on a major update over the past several weeks. Finally we are nearing completion and expect the update to go live later this week. Changes are massive, too many to preview really, but lets just say that this will be a massive step forward. Some of the major features include:

-Completing the solar system, with 5 planets, 4 moons, 1 gas giant, 3 major space station hubs, full ferry network between all planets, stations and moons, final positions for planets
-New planet designs, vegetation and more
-Populating space with asteroids, massive asteroid belts
-Completely rework of the GUI
-Foundation of a massive crafting system with 314 items and receipts (not everything will be operational yet)

This update also takes care of a lot of other work under the hood that will allow us to introduce more creatures, items, crafting receipts and 100s of randomized space station in the follow up update later in March.

We have some updates with regards to getting you game access, and looks like we are sticking with our current approach - only email application is open for now, and automated way to get into the game is getting postponed until late March.

We planned to enable automated tester access in February, however - demand has exceeded all our expectations, and same time the quality of testers we got through email application has been absolutely outstanding. So when it came to our production needs, the current testers got everything covered with countless pages of feedback in game, forums and discord.

So we are sticking to the same approach for now, and to remind you how to apply.

How to join right now
Send us an email to support@reverieworld.com, titled: Stars End Testing Request

Inside please include a link to you Steam profile (a picture if your profile is Private).

If you have played any of our Kingdom War games before, please note that, and include a picture with your hours with our games. We give preference to the players who played our previous games.

Also please include couple of sentences as to how you can help us with testing Stars End this early on (previous experience with similar games e.t.c)

You will hear from us within 72 hours with your game key.

But please keep in mind that our early access launch is yet to be announced next year, and Stars End is in extremely early development.

Streamlined Access on March 20th
Now for a quick and easy way to join you`ll need to wait until March 20th.

First way is to join the dedicated tester signups. We will have the form up on March 20th. They`ll be live on our official website http://starsend.reverieworld.com
You`ll need to enter quite a bit of info to show your interest in the game.

Second way is automatic for these who are true veterans of our previous games and have accumulated quite a few hours (well over a hundred) with our titles. We`ll be sending out email invites on March 20th, with an automated way for you to grab your steam key and start playing.

Attention Colonists, a large new update has landed for Stars End. We have reworked several major elements and while there are hundreds of fixes, only major changes are listed below. And of-course, it`s our pleasure to present you with Beta Prarie 2.0 - a good look at what final planets will look like. New Beta Prairie planet is huge - roughly 10x the size of the old planet. It features over 25km of new highways, redesigned towns and dozens of new POIs.

Next up - we are working on several very big and exciting features. First of all - full localization will be added within a week or so, including Korean, Chinese, Russian, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish. Up next is the big space station update, populating the universe with 100s of space stations for players to explore or claim. At the same time we hope to add huge asteroid belts. And lets not forget the NOVa - the near orbit vehicle that will enable going into space even in very early game.

Same time we are working on finally getting the finalized gathering and crafting into the game, but this is a huge project that will take us towards the end of February.

And so.... presenting update 0.2.5:


Steam and Accounts
• The database has been wiped
• Steam ID Changed - the game no longer uses your steam name as your ID but a backend steam ID.
• Security enabled so the game can no longer be loaded outside of steam.
• First and Last Name added to creation screen

Beta Prairie 2.0
• A new version of Beta Prairie has been added, which is roughly 10x the size of the old planet. New highways, towns and POIs have been enabled around the planet.
• The major POIs of Clayton Shire are Redberry, Clayton and Area 22.
• 30 minor POIs have been created which spawn procedurally around the planet
• About 25km of new road has been layed across the shire (and so much more coming soon!)

Territory Capture
• Territory capture has been re-coded from the ground up. In order to support a large amount of territories to control, some big changes had to be made.
• Capture territory by joining a faction - owning a territory allows you to spawn directly in town.
• The respawn screen has been revised to reflect point capture changes
• Players now only have to stand near a point to begin capturing.
• Further UI enhances have been added, such as the territory tab in Inventory, and Flashing ABC icons if the point is being captured
• Join a faction quest enabled if you either finish or skip tutorial

Misc
• Reworked the way items and backpacks are retrieved at startup, potentially fixing the inventory issues (requires testing).
• Procedural substance textures removed, potentially fixing a crash when joining a server (requires testing).
• Ground vehicles now spawn in environment - find them around clayton shire there are only a certain number of vehicles allowed to spawn at any one time. Make sure you take care of your vehicle or another player might get hold of it! (space fighter spawns coming next patch)
• A bug at loading screen is resolved which was causing players to get stuck on retrieving position if character creation was not completed previously
• Procedural building stairs and ramps should no longer cause a shake if going up them
• Procedural buildings door issue is resolved
• Makeshift backpack recipe added as a temporary measure for increasing weight
• Improved error console reporting created for server

Howdy Colonists and Welcome to Stars End - Dev Blog 1!

This is our bi-weekly Dev Blog going over recent features and changes in the game. We can't wait to let our dedicated players into the game, but for now this is how we plan to engage our community.

We are very interested in your feedback! Hard-core survival is a difficult thing to balance and get right - Is it too easy? Too hard? How long does it take a player to get a weapon and a full clip of bullets for example? How long is too long to build a base? These are all questions we hope to resolve alongside you, the community! (And well.. if we can get it right the first time we can all go home i s'pose!)

Introduction Mission
James Booth

I've been busy working on the Introduction Mission for Stars End. It works as a tutorial for the most part but includes voice acted NPC's and our new Mission Vehicles, which are disposable vehicles that are spawned and expire for a player during a mission, making missions not dependable on vehicle ownership.

Outside of the intro I'm working on some major server optimizations and also getting ready to move back to survival game play. We have a whole set of base building components ready to drop in - the wood tier, and also weight/muscle will finally be factoring into the body sim.

Various other items have come into play recently including the Compass, Basic Region Maps and the ability to pick up placed sleeping bags other players have left behind. In time all items in a makeshift camp will be able to be picked and relocated to a new position.

Procedural Space Stations (WIP)

I am currently continuing work on the Space Stations 3D Models and generation systems. There are many components that fit together to allow us to create any number of Space Station layouts and designs. From long corridors to wide open Docking Bays and Command Decks, all fit together seamlessly.

This week I’m adding a new room type to my already completed pieces along with other small 3D models and coding it all to fit together to create Space Stations that players will visit across the system.

Space Effects and Nebulas

Hello everyone! I have currently been working on making the universe and space, look good. The first thing I did was remove the old skybox to replace it with a 3D system. I then had to set up a star system. I used four different types of stars that pulsate and can be flown past. Now when you initiate the booster drive, you really will know!

The second part of the skybox I worked on was a cloud system. For this, I used three different types of clouds, four colors, that all dynamically move. The hardest part of this is getting the cloud patterns to look good, and have a great color. This is something I will continue to work on in the future.

The last thing I did was some Post FX adjustments, to get the sun, planets, and stars to really pop out at you. For this upcoming week, I will continue tweaking the 3D star box system, and start adding new content to explore and see in space.
