Hacktag - Piece of Cake studios
Happy Valentine's day, hackers!

Well, this is it. After 8 great months of Early Access, Hacktag is finally and officially released right on time for a (b)romantic date under... the moonlight.

Let me explain. Not only is Hacktag coming out today with 9 different stories to discover and many improvements, but it also comes out with a surprise special event, "Moonlight".

And who says special event, says special unlockable items! Launch week is the occasion to grab some special items inspired by Valentine's Day and the lunar year (what a perfect match!). I know, I know. You desperately want to sneak in and steal a bunch of data while rocking those ridiculous, ahem, I mean ridiculously cool heart-shaped sunglasses.

If you are new in Hacktag - first and foremost thank you and welcome - you will quickly notice that we love changing it up with seasonal events like this one.

Newcomers: welcome to Hacktag! :D
Congratulations! We think you have excellent taste and we truly hope you have tons of fun playing our game. Sneaking into those corporations might be stressful and challenging, but it is mostly fun and exciting! For now, just start exploring the game and let the fun begin. We will get back to you to tell you more about the final version content very soon (believe it or not, but things have been a bit crazy at the studio lately!).

In the meantime, if you would like to chat with the dev team, meet new players or just say hi, you are always welcome on Hacktag's official discord server.
You can also follow us on social media and watch the new launch trailer we've made!

Talk to you soon, hackers, now we vanish!

Hacktag - Piece of Cake studios

9 days left before Hacktag final release and we're not done with the updates!
Yes, you read this right! While we are working on polishing the game and greedily overkilling it with last-minute features, we wanted to offer you one last consistent plate of new content before the release. Showtime!

New mission type: Mainframe Raid

After Data Scavenger and Boss Takedown, here it is, the third mission type!
In a Mainframe Raid, the hackers must get an access to the corporation's mainframe either to steal or corrupt the precious data.

But the mainframe database is divided into 3 mainframe units protected by a 4 symbol password.

First, you will have to explore the office to locate the computers that are concealing one of the symbols and hack them in the right order.

When this is done, find both your way to the appropriate mainframe unit and enter the password together!

We really like this new mission type as rushing on the computers to find which one contains a symbol or not is quite exhilarating. But beware, it can get chaotic quickly once you have found them all, but you can't recall where they are! ;)

Again same as with the previous mission type: please, give us you feedback and report your issues. Let us know if you experience bugs or any understanding issues regarding the interface of this mission type. We really need your feedback.

Many gameplay improvements
This update also includes some improvements we have been wanting to add for a loooong time - Well pretty much since the beginning actually - and we have no doubt this will make your experience much more enjoyable.

Visual feedback on covers

The most frequent feedback we've had from you is that it is hard to know when you are hidden or not when playing the agent. Clearly this may lead to frustrating situations. With this new visual feedback you can now directly see where you'll be covered and also when the cover isn't safe anymore.

Agent is now outlined when behind an obstacle

Sometimes, you could easily lose sight of your agent when trying a tricky sneaking move close to a wall. This visual feedback will definitely help you!

Graphics improvements: different facades for each corps.

When creating Hacktag universe, we always considered the corporations as a special character, with their own agenda & personality. With today's update, we reinforce their differences and aesthetics by adding exterior facades to their buildings.

C. L. A. W. Media group gets a very urban and art-deco facade, Lexyk is more of a company set in lofts, while Genethics is looking like a periurban pharmaceutical company.

Tons of improvements, tweaking and bugs fix

This update also comes with a lot of fixes and adjustments as you can see in the patch note below:

Hacktag

Hacktag is a two-player co-op stealth game about two spies from rival agencies working together to infiltrate corporations. It's set in "a parallel world inhabited by anthropomorphic animals," and launched on Steam Early Access last summer. Today, developer Piece of Cake Studios announced its offical release date: February 14, 2018.

You can play Hacktag solo by swapping between the two spies, but like Piece of Cake itself, the game was built from the ground up with co-op in mind. It supports local and online co-op, as well as online challenges and leaderboards. One player puts their boots on the ground as the Agent, opening doors and air vents and slipping unnoticed past guards. The other player is the Hacker, who collects information and manipulates mainframes and other spy stuff to help the Agent progress.

"While some tasks can be accomplished by either player, many tasks require the cooperation of both," Piece of Cake says. "For instance, opening a locked door requires the Hacker to electronically unlock it while the Agent physically opens it."

Hacktag is currently available for $20. Its price will not increase upon exiting Early Access. In fact, it will be on sale for $15 the week of its release.

Hello hackers,

I hope you had a great weekend and your week is off to a good start! We kicked off the new week by giving an interview to a French TV channel in our offices. Our Monday morning faces will be featured in a documentary about French video game creation. Now that everything has been shot, let's just hope we've said a clever thing or two. If not...meh... our parents will be proud anyway... right?

We don't know when it will be on yet, but we will, of course, share this with you. And fear not, dear non-French speaker, there will be an international version with subtitles available.

Now time to move on to this week's update, shall we?
Lately, Piece of cake studios has been all about bug-hunting and relentlessly tracking every last one of them, chasing them down to the darkest corners, with our teeth clutching our keyboard, our mice used as bolas and all devs shouting a primal scream of victory whenever we find one of those mean buggers! Ahem, yeah, we're really into it. Anyway, please keep reporting us the issues you are having on Discord and forums to help us in our glorious hunt.

Hello hackers!

I hope you are having fun trying the new solo mode!
You know, this solo mode has changed our lives as game developers to a point you cannot fathom. When you have the great idea to create a studio dedicated to making co-op games, you don't necessarily anticipate that, in your daily life, you'll have to test the co-op features you are developing...alone.

For the last 2 years, not a single day has passed without one of us loudly dropping a controller on the ground while testing the game. But with the solo mode, these days are gone! No more clumsy attempts to switch controllers at light speed and a significantly reduced budget dedicated to gamepad replacements (hopefully!). That's something!

Now let's talk about the update!

This one is improving the solo experience and also debugging some general features.
