I. It’s the Winter Festival again!
Permafrost is the default biome during the winter festival.
Villagers can build snowmen
Giant Trees have winter decoration.
Axe Throwers throw snowballs
Some Deer have red nose.
Bears on Permafrost are white
II. General Changes
1. Lore Related Changes
A LOT of different Lores have been modified to make the game more enjoyable and intuitive to play:
Trading lore doesn’t exist anymore.
Shipbuilding now allows the Lighthouse.
Coinage now allows the trading routes.
Mining Efficiency is now at Tier I in Wealth Tree, replacing Trading
New Mining Efficiency: +50% speed mining. No more additional ore.
Eradication becomes a generic Lore, no longer a Stag specific lore. It is a Tier II in Growth Tree, replacing Mining Efficiency.
New Eradication: Silo bonus +10%. -50% upgrade costs. No more happiness bonuses.
Recruitment is now triggered when sacrificing a Dragon unit or slaughtering a sheep or a giant boars
Medecine : +50% healing speed (no more Healers can bring food when they do not heal).
Military Strategy get a max set at 25%
This patch will introduce two new Lores that fill holes in some of the clans potential. These will grant us more flexibility when balancing the game or designing new clans:
Tier IV in Growth branch ⇒ Shiny Happy People: -20% required happiness based on your population
Tier IV in Wealth branch ⇒ Trading Caravan: Trading Route gets +20%. Affinity with neutral factions grows quicker
2. General Relic Related Changes
Mjolnir: does less damage during a shorter time.
Skull of Hrungnir: gets a 1 year cooldown and you can summon more than 1 zombie giant.
3. Miscellaneous Changes
Coming with the rework of the Lore tree, the following changes will help balance things up:
Healers can bring food when they do not heal. No need for Medicine lore anymore.
The Townhall provides +1 krowns.
Basic Mining speed has been slowed down.
Skirmishers are no more accessible to all clans. They are exclusive to the Snake clan.
New tool for Scouts: +15% scouting speed, run between territories
Forge building cost is reduced: 60 wood, 15 krowns, 30 sec build time
Spectral warriors and Myrkalfars can be found in any Biome, not only Ragnarok.
New Altar of Kings: +3 Food / Wood / Krowns / Lore, +1 happiness, 50 fame
Supply lines penalty decreasing with time -5% per year
There can be more than one Bear in a zone, depending on difficulty and Townhall distance
We added a cooldown for the first recruitment of the Warchiefs (This includes Kaija, but not Signy).
Projectile Resistance is now an ability.
When playing in multiplayer with or against AIs, it is now possible to have an infinite pause.
You can keep exploring a Ruin or Shipwreck an ally started to explore without starting over.
4. Neutral Faction Changes
A few things have changed regarding the Neutral Factions behavior to give them a fair impact on the game:
Trading with neutral factions improves trading over time.
Trading with them prevent them from attacking you (works with Kobolds and Myrkalfar).
If you have a positive relationship with a neutral faction, they won’t attack your territories.
Blain gets the thunder attack, like the Raven's Giant Mercenaries.
III. Clan Balancing
Fresh Fish replaces Hearthstone
Foresight replaces Recruitment
Near the sea Spirit: +1 Krown and +1 Wyrd for 4 building on coastal zone. Now replaces Shipbuilding
Knowledge from Beyond now allows the trading routes.
Fame 500 - Howl from the Sea Master: During the Kraken event, your clan is feasting.
Quality of Life replaces Negotiate
Warcry cooldown is now shared between both warchiefs.
Metalcraft: Now replaces Mining efficiency Warchiefs mining and forge speed is increased by +60%
Excavation: Every Warchief Mining stone or iron produces +4 lore
Draconic Frenzy: +100% att if a military unit fights with no other allied military unit in the zone.
Dragonkin: 20% projectile resistance is now displayed Attack power 12 => 13 Move speed +10%
Blood, Sweat & Tears replaces Medicine
Capture: Chance to capture is doubled if warchief is in zone
Skull of Hrungnir: You can now summon more than one Undead Giant. We added a 1 year cooldown after each Undead Giant recruitment
Slave Trade replaces Erudition
Skirmishers are now exclusive to Snake clan.
New Signy: She has new stats and she grows quicker Age 16: Signy gain ranged attack Age 17: Signy can go through neutral foes zones like skirmishers Age 18: Signy gain Scorched Earth
Scorched Earth: Like mercenaries, Signy pillage resources in enemy territory depending of the zone production
Under Pressure: +20% att and supply penalty reduced for Skirmishers. +10% to other military unit attack. +0.5 happiness and +1 Food for each military unit in a non allied zone next to or in an enemy territory
Guerilla Tactics: Military units gain +1% Attack Power per unit lost or killed in an enemy territory (max 30%)
New Black Market: +10% merchant production & allows Trading Route +50% income from Trading routes with enemy clan This clan gains no resources from you and diplomacy is decreased
Rapacious Exploitation Now replaces Negotiate Bonus of special tiles (such as Thor’s Wrath or the Geyser) is doubled Rapacious Exploitation no longer allows scouting neutral ruins
Gungir: The Clan of the Snake's Relic: Unlock the Stealth Ability to all military units Stealthy units won’t get attacked by Watch Tower for 5 seconds when entering a tile.
Legacy: Now replaces Hearthstone Altar of Kings production and happiness +50%
Herbalism: Active menders gives +5% production and +10% Lore production in Mender's hut Zone. +20% Healing speed.
Simple Living replaces Sharp Axes
Lay of The Land replaces Mining Efficiency
New Bartering: Allows Trading Routes. You can trade every resource to neutral factions. Trade routes with neutral factions +1 happiness per trading route
Osmosis replaces Negotiate
Mask of Gullinbursti, the Clan of the Boar's Relic: +5 Food production. Summon a non controllable giant boar from all forests. Boars into allied territory are pacified. You can sacrifice boar from your territory for food (500). It regenerates its health quickly.
Shield Maiden and Kaija get projectile resistance like Shieldbearers.
Kaija costs 40 Food and 40 krowns
Hibernation: Units regenerate during winter in allied territory
Winter Festival: 50% penalty winter prod +3 Happiness in winter +50% on Trading Routes in Winter
New Negotiator: +2 krowns, +20% commercial influence

We're really proud to finally present you the third major free update, and the biggest one yet: Northgard Conquest.
Northgard Conquest is a standalone game-mode that can be played solo or co-op, with a succession of various challenges offering a gaming expansion of +100 hours. The difficulty of the co-op mode will be based on strong collaboration between players.
Forget the lore, choose your clan and let's fight!
Northgard Conquest offers you the possibility to choose your own experience when facing the harsh challenges of Northgard Conquest.
If you want to challenge yourself and personalise your Clan with unique bonuses whilst counting on your own skills and decisions, then choose the Northgard Conquest solo-mode, defeat the other clans and claim the Throne.
Believe in your strengths, establish the best strategy, exploit resources in an optimal way and build the most formidable clans to endure Northgard’s relentless hostility!
Another addition is the ability to share your adventure and overcome the harsh obstacles with the power of collaboration in the new Northgard Conquest co-op mode.
Northgard Conquest encourages teams to experiment and discover every combo available in this game-mode! But beware, Northgard Conquest is a cunning opponent! Having two in a team means double power, double bonuses and of course, double the problems! But nothing is impossible for fearless vikings.
Plan a global strategy, divide the tasks, collaborate, and master the continent together!
Northgard Conquest introduces a brand new way to present and organize all the different challenges Northgard Conquest offers: The Conquest Map.
The Conquest Map is formed by several challenges, 3 of which are specific to each Clan (and adapted to their specialties) which remain constant. The other challenges are pulled from a random pool of challenges, which means that if you restart a Conquest with the same Clan, you will get a different map with different challenges!
As soon as you succeed in one of the 3 specific challenges, several different paths are unlocked and the choice of which path you take is up to you.
Conquest challenges are completely independent between themselves and will challenge you with various specific victory conditions and rules for each challenges. Here’s some examples:
Too Many Wyverns:
Victory condition:
- Kill 3 Wyverns.
Special rules:
- Lots of Wyverns are spotted, it's time for a hunt! - Town Halls are already protected by updgraded Watch Towers.
Race to Yggdrasil:
Victory condition:
- Find the legendary World Tree Yggdrasil, and be the first to conquer it.
Special rules:
- Yggdrasil is larger and cost twice the price to colonize. - There is more Fishes, Fertile Lands and Deer in the map.
Kobolds Infestation:
Victory condition:
- Gain enough territories and raise your Fame to obtain the title of King.
Special rules:
- Many Kobolds camp everywhere. Kobolds are more aggressive, respawn and expand quicker. - For each decolonized Kobolds territory, earn 10 Fame .
As you progress through your Conquest, you'll get to choose specific favors to power up your clan and help you win the next challenge (applicable only to the Conquest game mode).
You can obtain these synergizing favors at the start of a Conquest!
And if you succeed in beating the entire Conquest of a Clan, you'll get a marvelous Town Hall skin related to it! You'll be able to use these skins in all modes:
Clan of the Bear / Boar
Clan of the Goat / Stag
Clan of the Dragon / Raven
Clan of the Snake / Kraken
Clan of the Horse / Wolf
As the biggest major update yet, Northgard Conquest also includes a variety of specific elements as special units, buildings, resources, events or maps. During challenges, you’ll need to exploit them as best you can to succeed!
Valdemar The Cursed
Valdemar was a Legendary King who died bringing battle to Helheim. He now wanders Northgard’s land to avoid death and reach Valhalla. He is usually surrounded by a group of Dark Vaettir who will not let you reach their King.

Northgard Conquest introduces new specific map configurations that you'll be able to explore during challenges, like The Inner Sea.
This brand new map configuration will host challenges that encourage you to establish the best strategy and exploit all the available resources to succeed and conquer.
In addition to the basic difficulty modes (Easy / Normal / Hard), Northgard Conquest has introduced most challenging difficulty yet: Extreme Mode.
This difficulty will do everything in its power to stop you from reaching the Throne and will make Northgard an incredibly hostile continent, more so than it ever was.
But if this difficulty isn't challenging enough for you... maybe we create an even more difficult one that will make Northgard a true nightmare for you!
The arrival of Northgard Conquest marks the beginning of a new Multiplayer Season: Conquer the region and ascend to the top of the leaderboard by taking the Throne on your own!

Fixed an old error in the ELO calculation. Two players of equivalent ranks should win/lose an equivalent number of points. Defeat should not have the player lose four times what the winner earned.
Fixed a bug that allowed militia to leave territory.

Fixed an issue that didn't allow kraken fishermen to fish on coasts.
Near the Sea Spirit: Totems were counted as buildings, while they were not supposed to.

The missions are completely independent between themselves and will challenge you with specific victory conditions and rules for each mission.
Challenges examples
Valdemar the Cursed:
Defeat a powerful boss in an undead infested land.
Winter Has Come:
Permafrost map with blizzards every winter.
The Uprising:
Ragnarök map with numerous and very aggressive Myrkalfars.
These missions are completely adapted to the strengths of the clans, which means that you'll get adapted missions depending on if you start the Wolf's campaign and then the Stag's one.
As you progress through your conquest you'll get to choose specific rewards to power up your clan and help you win the next mission (only work in Conquest mode). If you succeed to beat the entire campaign of a clan, you'll get a marvelous Townhall skin you'll be able to use in the online mode.

Wielding divine power, the Valkyries are the most powerful members of the Kraken's army. Your clan can only control one at a time.
The Fishery is an exclusive generating building for the Clan of the Kraken. This building can be built on shores and beaches. You can assign 2 Villagers to this building to transform them into Fishermen (3 Villagers if upgraded).
The Hörgr is the second exclusive building for the Clan of the Kraken. You can assign only female villagers to this building, transforming them into Norns. You can assign 2 of them to this building (3 if upgraded).
is a Kraken Clan's exclusive resource. It can be spent to activate special abilities. The Clan of the Kraken starts the game with 400 and a passive production of +1 .
Shallow Waters - Costs 100
Improves a coastal zone to accept one additional building.
It can be cumulative with usual zone improvement.
High Tide - Costs 300
You can only cast HighTide on a non-coastal zone adjacent to non-coastal zones or zones affected by HighTide.
This cancels the Kraken's building and attack penalties.
You can colonize this zone at the normal cost.
Road to Valhalla - Costs 600
Consecrate one of your Norns.
She becomes a Valkyrie and joins your army.
You can control only one Valkyrie at a time.
The Valkyrie is one of the exclusive units of the Clan of the Kraken.
Ancient Spirits - Costs 1 000
Summons 5 hostile Spectral Warriors to target enemy's coastal zone.

The Kraken clan has its own Relic, the Edda of Vör. Given by Vör, wise and curious, so that no one can hide anything from her.
This Relic allows your Norns to earn .
When the Relic is built, it gives 1 000 .
The Valkyrie’s weapon gives +10%.
After forging the Valkyrie’s weapon, they gain the Purify ability and can sacrifice themselves to instantly colonize a neutral zone or an enemy zone being uncolonized
Cooldown: One year
The Kraken itself roams around Northgard and punishes those who do not fear it. The Kraken attack lasts for 3 month, sinking boats and damaging ports.
No one can survive the attack of the Kraken.
This event is not linked to the presence of the Clan of the Kraken.

The production of the Sailors has been decreased by 20%.
Now all maps will always have at least one neutral faction.
The Fallen Sailor event now can appear in every game, not only in Ragnarök.

The team is also working on a huge new game update that will bring many new and exciting ways to play the game including multiple co-op options. We'll have much more to share on this update very soon!
Finally, we are also working away on the console version of Northgard that will be in stores late September. We can’t wait for you to be able to try it out!
As for what's going on with the rest of the studio, well it’s been a crazy couple of months for sure. Our office was destroyed in a Fire/resulting water damage. We have now settled in to new temporary accommodation and we’re back up and running!
The Darksburg team are hard at work on the game and are really excited with how its all taking shape! We've posted the introductions to the survivors on Steam and Twitter so you can get to know them! Clan of the Stag
Food Preservation Increased production by (+2) +3 for each silo, and (+4) +5 if upgraded.
Glory of the Clan
+20% on gains.
NEW - All productions gets +1% per 100 .
The Value of Great Deeds
Skalds will produce +1 , and +2 if their building is upgraded.
NEW - Skalds tool upgrade is free and take -50% time to forge.
Hall of Skalds
Cost becomes 80 and 40
Bug Fix
Skalds' tool did not correctly increase production.
Clan of the Goat
NEW - Shepherd - formerly Cooking Mastery
2 free Sheep.
+10% Sheepfold production.
Starting Bonuses
The Clan of the Goat now has a (30%) 20% Feast bonus.
Sheepfold
Upgrading the Sheepfold increases its production by (50%) 20%.
Clan of the Wolf
Starting bonuses
NEW - When do not have any Warband member, the first military unit recruited is free (Warchief excluded).
NEW - Happiness generation: Having 1 Warrior grants +1 . The larger your army is, the less per Warrior you’ll get.
Veiled Threats
+75% if you have a Berserker.
NEW - +150% for Trade Route in the same tile as Berserker.
NEW - You can even when at War.
Clan of the Raven
NEW - Negotiators: Replaces Trading
Gain +3 production and +20% .
Allows Trading Routes & Lighthouse. LightHouse is free.

NEW - Each zone gives you some . Forest, swamps and shoals give triple.

Starting bonuses

Ranked Games Update Points earned depend on the map's World hostility:

Medium: -25%
Low: -50%
Healers / Menders
Healing speed increased by 20%.
Food Production
Farmers: No change
Hunters: +5%
Fishermen: +10%
Hunter's Lodge cost has been increased at 80
Fishermen's Hut cost has been increased at 80
Axe Throwers
Defense is increased from 3 to 4.
Monster Slayer
+50% vs Mystical Creatures.
NEW - +50% XP from Mystical Creatures.
HearthStone Tech
Reduces extra Firewood consumption during Winter by 50%.
NEW - Reduces the winter food penalty by 20%.
Eldhrumnir Relic
(+40%) +20% bonus.
-50% cost.
Your units regenerate Health during a .
The “Rally to Warchief” button has now changed.
The size of the map is now displayed in the lobby.
Forge
An icon is now added, allowing the player to see the progression of the forging item.
Healers and Menders buildings upgrade
The Healers and Menders Hut upgrade now increases the regeneration speed by (100%) 20%.
Healers (with medecine) doesn't profit Silos Production bonuses anymore .
Trading
When trading or , your Trading Partner could not see the / income in his resources list, he now can.
Horse Clan deposits
A bug didn’t allow the player to see the new deposits on the minimap.
Mining close to Thor’s Wrath
If a deposit was too close to Thor’s Wrath, the player wasn’t able to mine it.
Horse Clan’s Great Towers
Great Towers, which are a specific Horse Clan feature, could be built by other clans.
A bug often only displayed ‘invite only’ games in the games list. It has been fixed!
On Macbooks, we fixed a bug on the invite button.
The latest Horse Clan patch broke the Chapter 10 of the Campaign, especially its secret objective. It has been fixed.
When a player created a multiplayer game, teams and clans were visually reversed after the validation of the game. This has been fixed.
