Endless Space was a fine 4X strategy game with interesting, distinct races and a best-in-class interface. Then Amplitude Studios’ follow-up was Endless Legend, a fantasy 4X game set within the same universe which was best-in-class in general. In fact, we named it the best game of 2014.
So pardon my excitement for the news that Amplitude are now making Endless Space 2 [official site] and have released the first CG trailer.

Romain de Waubert de Genlis is Creative Director at Amplitude Studios, best known for 4X games Endless Space and Endless Legend. Romain has shown us both his home and work setups, but his personal rig is really the one that shines. It's extremely powerful, has a flashy blue interior, and an awesome monitor to tie it all together. Romain was kind enough to tell us about both his computers, as well as what he's playing right now and how his work PC is a little out of date.

Work is different, I have nearly the same computer since we started amplitude, I just updated the video card with something quite average and the CPU was changed as the other one fried. I have an okay screen which is the same as the artists so we are on the same tuning. My mouse does not click by itself and my keyboard is great for typing words…

What's the most interesting/unique part of your setup?
Everything is bad ass, from the best screen ever (27 and UHD resolution at 166 mhz), water cooling and ultra-overclocked intel CPU and top notch nvidia GPU, mechanical keyboard and ultra-advanced mouse that clicks for you!
What's always within arm's reach on your desk?
Of course I never go without my chocobons and expressos!
What are you playing right now?
I am playing right now, like a few million people, the amazing Witcher 3… makes me feel very humble, they just nailed it!
What's your favorite game and why?
My favorite game from all time? Civilization 4 with Rise of Mankind mod… it made me want to conquer the world so many times!
Amplitude has announced Endless Legend's second DLC pack, called Shadows. It adds a new faction—The Forgotten—who are billed as masters of espionage. As such, the expansion will let you steal, capture, sabotage, assassinate, and just generally be a right bastard to rival empires.

Every faction in Endless Legend [official site] feels like it required as much playtesting and balancing as some entire strategy games. There are eight major factions in all, from the Necrophages, who devour those they meet rather than engaging in diplomacy, to the Cultists of the Eternal End who cannot create new settlements of their own but can convert those that they conquer.
Amplitude have just announced an expansion, Endless Legend: Shadows, that adds a new faction – The Forgotten. They’re experts in espionage but the new spying and stealth features will be available to other factions as well.

We have been pretty quiet but that's only because we have been working very hard for some very cool surprises for you all. Indeed, we will be attending this year's Gamescom in Cologne, from August 5th to August 7th.

Endless Legend: Shadows, the new Expansion of Endless Legend, will be available for Hands-On and Live Demos to the press at Gamescom 2015, so follow our social media channels (Twitter / Instagram / Facebook) for some live coverage!
The Expansion introduces exciting new features:
Play the brand new faction, the Forgotten, expert in the new espionage skills
Play with invisible units using the new “Camouflage” and “Stealth” capacities
Infiltrate an empire to steal, capture and sabotage
Pillage villages, extractors and watchtowers to slow your enemy’s progression
Equip your heroes with “Scope” accessories to give them special espionage abilities
Defend yourself by using counter-espionage skills and the new “Detection” capacity
If you happen to be in Cologne, we're having a little community meet-up on August 7th in Cologne, also known as our Gamescom Beer2Gether: SIGN UP for the event. It'll be a very casual event where you will get to meet us, talk about games, have some Kölsch (you need to be at least 18, sorry), and get awesome goodies if you arrive early... :)
