Conan Exiles has over a thousand official servers, divided between three platforms (PC, Xbox, PlayStation) and several regions. These servers come as a free service to all our players who want to participate in the online experience of the game and do not feel like delving into the intricacies of joining a private server or hosting one of their own. This comes with the caveat of us not being able to monitor every server all the time, nor have any active admins or Gamemasters.
It is inevitable that, at some point, tensions arise and some players opt for unfair ways to tip a server’s balance or find ways to limit the access and enjoyment for other people. We would love if this wouldn’t happen, but in certain situations it is necessary for us to intervene in order to guarantee a certain level of stability, fair play and enjoyment for the majority of players.
This is the current set of rules of conduct we have established for official servers to ensure the smoothest experience possible. By playing on an Official server you agree to follow the rules below. Please make sure you are aware of them and help us reinforce them by reporting any possible infractions to our team.
Please be aware that this set of rules is not extensive, complete, nor covers every possible situation. We reserve the rights to add any changes or resolve a situation at our own discretion.
Hacks and Exploits
The use and abuse of hacks and exploits on official servers is not tolerated.
Hacks are uses and abuses of third-party programs that inject code and modify aspects of the game to provide unfair advantage against other players. For instance: super speed, hitbox detection, wallhacks and server DDoS.
Exploits are uses and abuses of game mechanics to obtain an unfair advantage over other players including creating a detrimental play experience. For instance, item duplication, stashing of materials under the world terrain (undermesh), crashing servers or other player’s clients, accessing forbidden areas of the game and abuses of the building system of the game to negatively impact server and client performance.
Harassment and griefing
When playing on official servers, please stick to a general set of guidelines of basic decency, such as treat others as you would like to be treated.
If you’re experiencing harassment and griefing in-game, please be aware that there are tools in-game put in place to help you improve your experience such as muting.
However, there might be cases we may intervene against if some lines of basic human decency are crossed, for instance:
Offensive and defamatory chat and user created content of racial, sexual, hateful, illicit or of other nature. This extends to character names, guild names, in-game signs and so on.
Terrorist and criminal glorification. This extends to character names, guild names, in-game signs and so on.
Personal threats, doxing, stalking. Please also make sure to get in touch with the local authorities in such similar cases.
Impersonation of Funcom employees or staff.
Regarding the building system, although freedom is encouraged through the sandbox mechanics of the game, please remember that there are other players sharing the server with you. We reserve the rights to act upon in cases we deem necessary, such as but not limited to:
Blocking of content in the game, such as dungeons, resources and other areas of the game.
Abuse of the claim system (claim spam) where blocks are placed for no other purpose than to prevent other player’s access to resources and building spots.
Irresponsible abuses of the building system leading to loss of performance both on client and server-side.
Special consideration against these cases will be taken in PVE and PVE-Conflict servers.
There will be no refunds of materials or inventories should you or your clan be affected by an admin intervention.
Clan and personal responsibility
It falls under your responsibility to make sure not to break any of these guidelines and when in doubt, please contact any of our staff in our forums.
It also falls under your responsibility to make sure no one in your clan is abusing game mechanics or partaking in continued harassment. Do not associate under any circumstances with players you suspect are hacking, exploiting or abusing any of the guidelines above. If you suspect any of them are partaking in such actions, please report them to our staff and distance yourself or your clan from these players.
It is also your responsibility to know which clans you’re currently a member of, on any official server. If you are not going to be active in a server, please remember to leave the clan or ask to be kicked from it after a certain period of time.
Ignorance to these actions and guidelines will not be taken in consideration when appealing any possible restrictions put in place against your account due to this oversight.
Circumventing a ban
Avoiding or circumventing a ban on your account by any means, including but not limited to creating alternate accounts, using Family Share, or other similar methods, will result in a harsher restriction against your account and forfeiting any chance of being able to appeal in any way against your suspensions.
Duration of a ban
In many situations, we will proceed with a temporary ban as a way to warn and deter against repeating infractions.
In cases of undermeshing, we will proceed with 7 or 14 day bans depending on the extent of the abuse.
In cases of server walling or locking access to large chunks of content in one or several servers, the duration of the ban will be of 1 month (4 weeks).
In cases of other forms of abuse and griefing, the bans will range from 3 day to 14 day bans depending on the extent and gravity of the situation to be judged at our discretion.
In cases of exploiting and abusing of in-game mechanics, the bans will range from a duration of 1 week to 1 month depending on the extent and gravity of the abuse.
Hacking and situations deemed as extreme will be met with a permanent ban.
Any repeated infractions will result in exponential durations of any bans previously applied. Any more infractions beyond that will result in permanent, non-appealable bans.
Reporting an infraction
To ensure we can provide the best help we can, please make sure you provide the best information you can at the time of your report. This means relaying as much information, as closer to the truth as you can, to help our team evaluate the situation.
If when analysing the report we find evidence suggesting the information provided was false, tampered with or modified in such a way as to provide a wrongful interpretation, we might proceed to exert disciplinary action against your account.

If you want to report players, clans, exploits, or connectivity issues in any of our Official Servers, please contact us through Zendesk, our team will get back to you using the provided email.
Make sure that you fill all the text fields with accurate information, and that you provide irrefutable veridic proof and evidence to back up your report. This includes, but is not limited to, screenshots, videos, timestamps, names of characters and guilds, profiles.

Should you require any other type of assistance or have any questions you'd like to ask our team privately, feel free to send us a DM through our Forums by going to your profile, selecting Message, and in the recipient field type in @Community. Legacy bans and appeals
If you want to appeal a ban, please contact us through Zendesk, selecting "Why was I banned" as the type of issue and providing relevant information such as character names, servers you've played on, and clans you were part of.
Any bans and restrictions applied prior to the announcement of these rules were of permanent manner, however, due to the announcement of the new set of rules, these can be appealed on a case by case basis as long as the infraction for which they were punished is specified in this document to be of a lesser duration.
Please note that we reserve the right to not revise the ban at our own discretion.
Disclaimer
We reserve the right to modify these rules in any way we deem necessary and at any moment, including the reasons, offenses and restrictions, as well as their duration, at our own discretion. We will try to communicate any major changes in a way we deem efficient to inform the majority of players.
Conan Exiles does not offer MMO-Like in-game support, and as such we won’t be able to refund or return any loss of materials, inventories or any kind of in-game property caused by admin intervention, infractions or other losses caused by gameplay.
As a player on our official servers, you’re responsible for having read and accepted these rules, as well as facilitating awareness of them to any other players. Ignorance of these rules will not exempt you, your clan or your account from receiving disciplinary action.
For those curious as to what's going on on the TestLive branch, you can check out the notes here! Coming hot on the trails of our previous content patch, conveniently titled Followers I, and as announced in our producer letter, we feel now ready to deploy on Testlive the first iteration of our next game update: Followers II! Given the amazing reception you all gave to our new commitment to make Testlive a meaningful platform to test and improve upon new features, we feel this is the right time to let you all have a first look at our new batch of changes and improvements aimed at overhauling how you interact with your followers.
Among these changes comes a very long and oft-requested feature, AI stances! We have also added a command system for your active follower, so you can give direct orders such as move and attack. There’s more changes and improvements that come with these new additions that will generally improve how AI reacts and interacts in the game. We have also included a couple of commonly requested quality of life changes that will make your adventures in the Exiled lands even more amazing: you can now have a companion and a horse active at the same time, and while riding you can also drag any unconscious NPCs!
We’d love if you would give all these changes a try and let us improve on these features by sending us any feedback you might have regarding possible issues here. Remember, this Testlive update is still a work in progress build and many things might still be still under active development!
Thanks again for your ongoing feedback and support.
Please remember that updates can mess with your installed mods. We suggest taking a backup of your current database before updating to any new patch if you have mods installed.
New follower behaviors!
You can now give your followers a brand new set of engagement rules and tactical preferences to better suit your playstyle! Accessed via a new option in the interaction wheel, you can now assign different behaviors to your thralls and pets. Divided into two sections (Engagement and Tactics), this will give you better control than ever on how your armies react to incoming threats. Please note that these new options are for your thralls and pets who are set as base defenses and not actively set as your follower (to see which new changes apply to active followers, you can skip a few sections and go straight to the new Follower Command System!)
Engagement behaviors
Under this new menu, you can now choose and customize different rules of engagement for each of your followers. These new options are:
Guard Area With this option, your follower will only attack when a hostile engages with them or any friendly presence (including you!) within their detection radius.
Guard me You only want them to attack with those that directly attack you or those hostiles that you engage in combat with? This is your option!
Attack all enemies When subtlety isn’t part of master plan, just let your armies know about this option. They will engage with any hostile that enters their detection radius, old-school!
Attack nothing If you want them to know engaging with any threats might be above their gruel pay-grade, choose this option. Any follower with this behavior will not retaliate against hostile activity.
Attack and Chase Distance You can set at which distance your thrall or pet will detect hostiles (Attack Distance), as well as the distance they might move (together with some new aggro systems) from their designed guard spot while pursuing their target (Chase Distance). These two settings open a new submenu with a range of options, from Lowest (5 meters) to Longest (50 meters).
Tactics behaviors
Within this section, you can set which tactical choices will be preferred by your followers:
Stand and defend With this option, your followers will stay firm and keep the designated position against any hostile activity.
Prioritize melee Followers with this tactic assigned will try to deal with enemies up-close and prioritize equipping the shortest range weapon they have available in their inventory.
Prioritize ranged This tactic will make your thrall opt for long-ranged engagements, prioritizing ranged weapons in their inventory when attacking an enemy.
New Follower Command System!
By Crom! You can now give direct orders to your active companion. Politely ask them to move or rudely ask them to annihilate any hostile targets within the press of a button! Aim and press the assigned key (X by default) to move your companion to the designed location or attack an enemy. Double press that key to make them stop any activity they’re engaged on (and double press again to make them resume that activity). Press it three times and you will ask your companion to return to your position. You can also hold the command button to open a new radial menu where you can select any of these settings individually!
Some important Quality of Life additions!
We’ve been listening to the feedback you’ve all been sending us since the release of the mounts update and we’ve integrated the two most requested changes! You can now have an active companion as well as your trusty steed, as horses don’t take the active follower slot anymore! And while you’re out and about on your ride, don’t forget to that you can now drag any NPCs you’ve left unconscious!
New follower stances!
New follower command system!
You can now have a companion and a mount active at the same time!
You can now drag unconscious NPCs while riding a horse! Yee-haw!
AI improvements!
…and more!
Currently Known Issues
The Follower Command System is currently missing Audio Effects.
Target lock keybind while using a controller is currently overridden by the Command key.
Given the complexity of the AI changes present in this patch, it is possible that some of the new systems and behaviors might not only not work as intended, but present worse performance than those already available in live. We’re extremely interested in any feedback you can share about AI issues and behavior in this build of the game.

Separate TestLive Product on Steam
We heard your input regarding the inconvenience with having to switch back and forth between the main game and our TestLive servers. To make it easier for you and because we really value your testing and feedback, we added a separate product for the TestLive server on Steam.
If you own Conan Exiles on Steam, you should now see a separate Product called “Conan Exiles - Testlive Client” in your library which gives you the option to install an additional instance of the game specifically for the TestLive servers. Please be aware that this will prompt you for a full additional installation.
We are aware that not everyone wants install or has space for two full installations. For those of you who don’t want to play through the additional TestLive Client, you can still access the TestLive servers through our old method.

We’re releasing a hotfix to address an issue that arose with our latest Update and made VoIP non-functional, as well as a problem that caused the chest at Hannuman’s grotto not to provide the expected rewards.
Thanks again for your ongoing support.
Please remember that updates can mess with your installed mods. We suggest taking a backup of your current database before updating to any new patch if you have mods installed.
Offering a sacrifice in Hannuman’s Grotto should now provide a reward, as intended.
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I’m Scott Junior the new Executive Producer for Conan Exiles. I joined the Exiles project in January and I’m excited to work with the development team and with the amazing community we have. There are a lot of exciting things planned for 2020 and I wanted to give you a quick glimpse into what the team is currently working on:
Follower Management UI
In today’s update we introduced the Follower Management UI. The goal of this system is to allow players to manage their Thralls in an efficient manner. You can now see where they are on the map, check their stats, rescue them if they end up in a non-retrievable location, and break bonds with them. This is the first step in our efforts to improve how Followers work in Conan Exiles. You can find more information about this feature here.
Follower Commands
Step two is our Followers Part 2 update. The goal of this patch is to allow players to have greater control of how their Thralls behave. It’s too early to give exact details on how this will work, but we are planning to add Thrall Commands, rework some of their base AI, and add additional default behaviors. We also want to make Thralls and Mounts work better together, which includes allowing an active Mount and Follower at the same time. This update is still early in the process, so some of the above may move to a future update.
Thrall Limiter
We will start a process of adding a Thrall Limiter feature to official servers. We have talked about this feature before, but the short version is that on Official Servers players/clans will have a max number of followers allowed. Exact numbers are still being evaluated, but you can expect an in-depth explanation of exactly how the Limiter will work before it is released. In addition, you will receive at least 2 weeks notice so you can prepare properly.
TestLive Client
Changes are currently underway to how the TestLive Client is used. Updates will stay on the TestLive Client longer than they have before to give players time to give feedback, and to give us the chance to react to this feedback before the update is released. The Followers Management patch was on TestLive for three weeks and had four updates based on player testing/feedback. Thank you to everyone that has been involved in this round of testing, your input is appreciated!
Undermeshing
The team is working on several ways to combat Undermeshing and other exploits that allow players to build outside the intended area. Some of these changes are risky and may have unintended side effects, so we want to make sure our solution is tested thoroughly before it’s released on all platforms. TestLive Client currently has one enabled, so give it a try and let us know if anything isn’t working properly (or try to Undermesh on the Testlive Client and let us know if you still can!).
That’s it for now. We have a lot of other great things in development that we will be communicating soon!
We’re excited to bring to all of you a long-requested feature, the Followers Management system! From a new tab in your player menu you’ll now be able to get information and manage your followers at a glance, adding a few new QoL improvements as well. Check their stats, location in the map, break bonds or -new in this patch- rescue them. All of it from a new snappy screen we’re sure you’ll grow to love during your adventures in the Exiled Lands. We’ve improved on this feature thanks to all the feedback our community has been sharing with us during its Testlive period, with multiple fixes and refinements
We’re also bringing a slice of fixes and improvements to the game, starting with addressing some of the most reported issues with Thralls’ AI, extra improvements against undermesh locations as well as general bugfixing.
Additionally, we'd like to introduce you to our new Executive Producer, Scott Junior! You can find the producer letter here that details things we're currently working on, as well as some things planned for the future.
Thanks again for your ongoing support and feedback.
Please remember that updates can mess with your installed mods. We suggest taking a backup of your current database before updating to any new patch if you have mods installed.
New Follower Management System!
With great power comes great responsibility! Following up on our follower leveling system, we're introducing the Follower Management System. From this screen you'll have at a glance an overview over your army of followers, giving you extra control even from a distance! You can access it from a new tab in the player menu. From this new screen you will be able to:
View your current number of followers!
If you have the population cap enabled in your server or single player game, you will be able to check your current quota of followers as well as the maximum you're allowed based on the server settings. Quick and easy! On official servers, however, you will still have to wait to see this count as we are not enabling the population limit just yet. We will inform beforehand when this change is coming.
Check stats, rescue and break bonds from a distance!
From the management screen you can now break bonds with those followers you're no longer interested in keeping. Just click on them and select "Break Bond" from the menu. Much easier than having to deal with the emotional trauma of doing it face to face.
We have also added a new extra functionality. Tired of those pesky followers who chose to disappear in the middle of the night? You can now recall them to your position (as long as you're within your claim) to keep them under control. However, this power comes with a few caveats:
When they get rescued, and to avoid possible abuse of this feature, they will lose their inventory and equipment. After you have used recall, you (or your clan) won't be able to use it again for a certain period of time (cool-down), and those followers who were engaged in combat recently will not be able to be recalled until a certain time has passed. Best of all, both timers are customizable!(via ini edit at the moment)
Locate your followers in the map!
Similar to the current feature where you can see your fellow clan mates in the map, you can now also keep an overview on where your followers are at any moment. Off by default, you can select which one of your thralls or pets you want to see located in the map. No more hide and seek!
New Follower Management System!
AI fixes!
Exploit fixes!
…and more!
Fixed a number of crashing issues.
Additional tweaks to the issue where players would get randomly killed when interacting with certain meshes or reaching certain locations.
Fixed an exploit regarding building pieces.
Deployed measures against undermeshing.
Follower management system! Command and track your followers with new and improved tools.
You now can break bonds with followers remotely.
You can now recall followers to your position if you’re within your claim. This feature has a cooldown and restrictions to avoid possible abuse.
You can now see your followers on the map. You can select which followers you want to be displayed this way and which ones you don’t (unticked by default).
Added the following ini settings to control the new functionality introduced with the Followers Management System (to be added in .Saved\ServerSettings.ini):
EnableFollowerRescueOnLandClaimOnly=True/False. If true, players can rescue followers ONLY on land they (or their clan) own
EnableFollowerRescueInBuildExclusionZone=False/True. If false, players cannot rescue followers in Build Exclusion Zones.
FollowerRescueCooldown=3600. Defines (in seconds) how often players can rescue followers (cooldown is shared between clan members).
DamageCooldownBeforeRescue=600. Amount of seconds where followers cannot be rescued if player or target follower took any damage.
Flinthead arrows no longer require feathers to craft.
The effect of Set’s Tongue and Mitra’s Justice no longer persists until logging out.
Fixed an issue that would cause armor penetration to stack on consecutive bow shots.
Fixed an issue that would cause the Rhino King not to retaliate against attacks.
Fixed an issue with stationary NPC awareness that would cause them to be unresponsive if they had previously rotated.
NPCs should now properly switch weapons, even to melee, if their throwing weapon runs out or their shields break.
Resolved an issue where thralls would sometimes prefer unarmed attacks despite having a weapon available in their inventory.
Thralls that switched from melee to ranged or viceversa should no longer remain in a contemplative, unresponsive state, wondering what’s the point of life or if pineapple belongs on pizza (it does).
Fixed an issue where thralls would not follow their attack rotations and did no combos.
Fixed an issue where the Purge would fail to find an appropriate target if the player had not been in LOD range of a qualifying construction.
Sprinting should no longer persist after mounting and dismounting a horse under certain circumstances.
Torches can now be equipped while traversing water bodies on a horse.
Fixed an issue where mounted combat animations could be interrupted.
In between whipping sessions, our #spellchekker team managed to correct a number of mispelled NPC names.
Fixed a number of French localization issues for certain items and stats. #le-spellchekker
Fixed an issue where the “Password Protected” prompt would disappear when leaving a session with vanity camera active.
Added follower management tab to player menu.
Followers location is now displayed in the map (off by default).
Cleared up some redundant information in pets’ info screen.
The last option in gameplay settings should no longer be blocked out of screen boundaries.
Fixed an issue where humanoid NPCs would continuously play drunk emote animations and sound effects when idle. #idleresponsibly
