This here is a game with one of those> plots. You know how it goes: our hero a hot-headed girl called Ajna, in our case lives in a peaceful fantasy village. One day, the forces of evil arrive, destroy everything, and kill the hero’s beloved mentor figure. The hero then sets out for revenge. During their journey they unlock hidden powers, learn shocking truths about their past, discover the power of friendship, and realize their quest is tied to the fate of the entire world.
Indivisible allows you to play for a whopping six minutes before setting Ajna’s village on fire. You are allowed to groan. I groaned too, at first. But Indivisible ended up growing on me, because it’s a game that doesn’t really want to have a complex plot. Indivisible just wants you to smash stuff.
Lab Zero Games, the studio behind well-regarded fighter Skullgirls, is bringing its strikingly designed action-RPG platformer Indivisible to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC on 8th October.
Indivisible tells the story of Ajna, a "fearless girl with a rebellious streak", whose life is thrown into disarray when her small rural town is attacked and a mysterious power awakens within her. That power enables Ajna to absorb and manifest other characters, known as Incarnations, who grant Ajna new weapons and abilities, and can be summoned into battle when needed.
Lab Zero promises over 20 playable characters, and each brings its own own story and personality to the adventure as players explore the game's expansive fantasy world. Indivisible's website provides an introduction to some of these heroes, including an armour-clad warrior equipped with a mystical motorbike, a young orphan and her giant bird friend, a reclusive shamaness, the Queen of Pirates, and my personal favourite, a dog whose bio simply reads, "Lanshi is a very good boy... but was he always?".
I’d almost forgotten about Indivisible, the hand-drawn platforming action-RPG from Skullgirls studio Lab Zero Game. Oh we’ve seen bits and pieces in the four years since its crowdfunding campaign, but it slipped onto the back burner. Soon it will leap onto… the front burner? I’m not sure how to adapt this metaphor. I’m trying to say that Indivisible finally has a release date and it’s coming up fairly soon: October 8th. Here, come have a look in the new trailer. I am delighted to see one potential party member is a giant fluffy dog.
