Save the date! Saturday, 4th of November 2017, we'll be beginning a 24-hour stream on www.twitch.tv/survivetheark to raise as much money as possible for Extra Life and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals! In our first year of fundraising, the ARK Community raised an outstanding $23,500!



Last year you guys smashed that and raised an immense $25,787! Join us on the 4th to see what we'll be able to raise this year!



The stream will be hosted by the lovely Forest Rapczak and Catfu (formerly ThatsCat)! They'll be doing giveaways, ARK Games, as well as hanging out with some of the other developers, content creators, and much more! ;)

This Halloween the ARK is undergoing a spooky seasonal change where the air is colder, the days shorter and the nights longer! Starting on Monday, the 30th of October, all official servers on every platform will be placed under a witches' curse lasting 48 hours! During this time, survivors may encounter abnormal overworld spawns and can find themselves in for a treat with returning cosmetics and valuable stated items available in the drops!

The event will begin at 12 PM ET on Monday the 30th of October and run until 7 PM ET on Wednesday the 1st of November.

The Collector's Edition of ARK: Survival Evolved is now available for purchase without the game or seasons pass included, for those who already own the game. Thanks for your patience on this, and we're excited to finally get these items out to you guys:

Hey Survivors! We’d like to start off by giving a huge thanks to all of you who participated in ARK’s first ever Twitch on! Whether you attended the show, tuned into our streams, or took part on social media, we are grateful for all the support and engagement!



For those of you who didn’t have a chance to catch us at the show, or watch the streams, worry not! We’ll be using this post to recap the news that went out, as well as sharing some of our favourite moments from the show, as well as details to where you can watch all the livestreams.

Tradeshows are always special occasions for us, as we always want to take the chance to show off something different for our fans, and this was no different. At this event, we were able to present the first ever glimpse of our upcoming expansion pack, ARK: Aberration. 



For those not familiar with ARK: Aberration; survivors will find themselves waking up on a derelict, malfunctioning ARK with an elaborate underground biome system, where they will face exotic new challenges unlike anything before: extreme radioactive sunlight and environmental hazards, ziplines, wingsuits, climbing gear, cave dwellings, charge-batteries, and far more, along with a stable of extraordinary new creatures await within the mysterious depths. But beware the ‘Nameless’: unrelenting, Element-infused humanoids which have evolved into vicious light-hating monstrosities! You’ll uncover the ultimate secrets of the ARKs, and discover what the future holds in store for those strong and clever enough to survive!

During the event, we also had some very important news to announce, starting with the most important piece of information, ARK: Aberration will not be launching in October 2017. The expansion pack has been delayed by some weeks due to some necessary development work needing to be done. It will be coming out this year, with more features thanks to feedback we've received from our demo.

Aberration is our best piece of work yet, there will be a ton of new content, features, creatures, and a vast explorable map for you to enjoy. We know waiting sucks, but it won’t be for long, and we’ll be sure to do it justice by providing you with a high quality expansion pack.

In addition to that, we released two new skins for our season pass holders.

 

The Reaper Helmet, depicting the frightening visage of these dangerous behemoths that roam the Element-infused depths and irradiated surface of Aberration, and the Bulbdog Mask, representing the cheery demeanor of this loyal ward against the Nameless.


We were also very excited to announce the Official Integration of the Sponsored Mod, Structures Plus (S+)! A long time favourite of the ARK player base and known as the ultimate building mod, S+ adds a range of functionality to ARK’s building, through the use of new structures, changes to core building/structure systems, additional features and more.

We’ll be working with the creator, Orionsun, and begin carefully integrating his mod into the game. Right now we’re still in the conceptualising phase, deciding which features we’ll be bringing over, which will be locked into custom settings, how we’ll be implementing it, and there are important factors we’ll need to consider regarding the mod and it’s impact on the balance of the game etc. It is a very large and in-depth mod, and we want to ensure that we get it right.

What an intriguing discovery survivors, can you guess what creature it is?


It’s the time of the month where we introduce some new and exciting mods from the community! This month we are happy to introduce some pretty unique mods to the program. During the course of the program, we’ve seen our share of maps, structure mods, and even a total conversion. We get excited when we see game modes like Urban Deathmatch or really well thought out ideas like Zoology get published!

Urban Death Match



We’ve always thought that ARK could serve as a good foundation for a team deathmatch mod. Those that aren’t new to the modding scene might remember Tribe Wars and the pre-match that started in a team deathmatch setting. Urban Deathmatch might be the choice for those who are looking for a similar game mode.

Spawn areas are predetermined and each spawn area has six crates that can be used to gear up your players. Be sure to give this a look if you are looking for some fun events to host on your server. Since the mod is a map extension, it shouldn't affect any of your existing saves! Be sure to check it out!

Zoology



We were really impressed when I got to check out Zoology. It’s one of those mod that just makes sense! Zoology adds a new element of discovery to the creatures you encounter on The Island. Ultimately, it changes how they act and behave and adds new and refreshing ways of interacting with wild and tamed creatures.

There’s a lot going on in this mod but essentially, wild and tamed creatures, have a level of morale and can suffer from stress, are intelligent enough (some of them) to flee from their predators, and predators will only hunt when hungry. It’s like a total conversion for the behavioural system of creatures!!

That’s all for this month. We’ll continue to keep an eye out for mods that are original and creative. We sincerely appreciate all the effort we are seeing from the modding community.
