https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77-oW_Rof_A Patch v257 finds its way buzzing onto the ARK with hives worth of content, featuring four new creatures, TEK cloning chamber, advanced TEK warfare in the form of a new turret, a TEK saddle, and a grenade; not to mention a UI overhaul, updated music tracks, the volcano redesign, the TEK Cave, Ascension for end game progression, TheCenter mega update, and many more magical things!
As we get deeper into ARK's TEK Tier, today's update introduces the following new element powered gear and structures: TEK Megalodon Saddle! Do we really need to say anything? Your sharks can now shoot lasers, all our childhood dreams have come true.
TEK Turret and TEK Grenades! Enhance your combat and defensive abilities. The TEK Turret, is an updated and upgraded version of the Auto Turret, shooting much more powerful laser blasts at your opponents, as well as advanced TEK AI which will allow for much more targeting options. The TEK Grenade, an updated and upgraded version of the Grenade granting it the ability to stick to a target and deal explosive damage after a short time.
TEK Cloning Chamber! Survivors now have the ability to clone their favourite creatures for the cost of Element Shards. Creatures will retain their level, appearance, and stats.
TEK Tier content is a wave of sci-fi-themed, end-game features that reward hard-working Survivors with awesomely futuristic gear and guns. Players wanting TEK Tier loot will need to gather the newly introduced Element resource, which is granted after successfully completing Boss Arenas, or it's finer version Element Shards, which can be obtained via crafting at a TEK Replicator or grinding Element. Each Boss has three difficulty levels (Gamma, Beta, Alpha) and after defeating the respective Boss are awarded unique TEK Knowledge engrams, element and other general Boss Rewards. Collect the Element, then use the TEK Replicator to craft all TEK items!
Apis Lithohermaea, more commonly known as the Giant Bee, never stray far from their nests which can be found high in the Island's Redwoods, the rocky cliffsides, and uncommonly in the Canyons of Scorched Earth. The drones can be seen swarming around the nest in groups, but to get a look at the Queen Apis, survivors would need to crack open the nest itself. The untamable drones themselves are quite territorial and will do whatever it takes to protect the Queen. A tamed Queen will lay new drone eggs, and construct a hive which survivors can farm for honey. The honey is a sweet and delicious resource which creatures of the ARK find irresistible. It has commonly been used by hunters to bait their traps and lure them in for slaughtering or taming.
Daeodon Comedentis, is the largest known species of Entelodont, an omnivorous family of ancient mammals that are sometimes referred to as "Hell Pigs". Not one of the friendliest creatures of the ARK, they are known to have a very territorial attitude to any survivor that wanders too close to their feeding grounds. Often spotted around the Island's dry grasslands, as well as the sandy beaches. Many tribes have made excellent use of the Daeodon, due to its unusually high metabolism it has the remarkable ability to heal itself and even more extraordinarily, this rapid regeneration is known to affect nearby allies. Therefore it is often a choice for raiding, boss, and hunting parties. This special ability has certainly made its high rate of food consumption worth the upkeep.
Liopleurodon Magicus, is a very interesting specimen. There are rumours circulating the tribes of The Island claiming that this beast has magical properties, however, the sightings have been rare so it's hard to decipher old tribe tales from the actual truth. Whatever the case, this mythical creature has been said to have the ability to reward the adventurous survivors who tame it, the special attribute of luck. Treasure hunting tribes who have encountered the beast have used this magic to obtain loot beyond their wildest dreams. You're probably wondering why these claims are tales, well it's said that the Lucky Liopleurodon's magic is so powerful, it cannot be kept under control, and after some time, it harnesses this power to get away.
Kentrosaurus Aethiopicus, a considerably smaller herbivore than its close relative, the Stegosaurus Regium. However, what it lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in formidability. In fact, it is argued that this creature is the pound for pound champion of not only the Stegosauria, but when fighting in close-knit encounters, it ranks atop the Island's herbivorous dinosaurs in general. Survivors have seen little success in their attempts to ride the Kentrosaurus, owing to its spike and hot-headed temperament. Nonetheless, a tamed herd of Kentrosaurus can defend a compound as well as take on many larger carnivores. One swing of its deadly tail can impale creatures, as well as the risks involved in fighting such a spiky foe, are unavoidable.
The Volcano Redesign and the TEK Cave!
As of Patch 257, The Volcano finally receives its long overdue, scorching redesign! Upon arriving at this key destination on The Island, survivors will see a dormant volcano, as well as the entrance to the TEK Cave. It will be no small feat to make it through this blisteringly difficult cave, where the ARKs deadliest foes are known to live. Upon completing the cave (with its multiple difficulties), survivors will Ascend.
..There's so much in this patch that we haven't gone through yet! In addition to everything above, here are the rest of the notes:
- More UI overhauls - New Hairstyle and Facial Hair - Approximately 20+ New Explorer Notes - 15 new music tracks, per-biome and situational - Full Gamepad input pass (i.e. console gamepad functionality) - Fixed issue with Cave spawns not functioning properly in singleplayer - The Center mega-update! - New Emote - Engram Tree Revamp - Alpha Megalodon - All Alphas have their own APEX Items

ARK: Evolution Event Weekend!
Survivors across ALL Platforms will be receiving a special Evolution Event perk this weekend! It will go live once the patch has released and will last until Monday the 8th at 12 PM EST. All Official Servers will be undergoing this evolutionary change which includes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yz7YM5vu-_4 Patch v256 comes to you today crammed with new content, including vacuum-sealed underwater bases and aquatic creature breeding, TEK teleporter pads and wireless generators, and four new creatures. It also brings the first major menu redesign of ARK, as the Inventory UI receives a complete visual and functional overhaul for a streamlined new look. This is a huge upgrade that means easier access to everything in the player’s inventory.
The TEK Tier for ARK is being implemented in multiple phases, with today’s update including awesome new element powered gear like:
TEK Underwater Bases! This allows fully-enclosed structures to be created underwater, with ventilators to allow oxygen filled room. Air-locks allow players to enter and exit without flooding their base.
TEK Power Generator! This wireless generators power TEK structures and any Tribe electrical structures in adjustable range.
TEK Teleporter! Easily and quickly move around the expansive open-world island, but very challenging and expensive to obtain!
TEK Mosa Saddle! Once placed on the Mosasaur it equips the beast with lasers and more.
TEK Tier content is a wave of sci-fi-themed, end-game features that reward hard-working Survivors with awesomely futuristic gear and guns. Players wanting TEK Tier loot will need to gather the newly introduced Element resource, which is granted after successfully completing Boss Arenas. Each Boss has three difficulty levels (easy, medium, hard) and after defeating the respective Boss are awarded with unique TEK Knowledge engrams, element and other general Boss Rewards. Collect the Element, then use the TEK Replicator to craft all TEK items!
Likely an ancestor to the modern horse, Equus Magnus is a much larger steed, and when tamed, can be used in much the same way - riding, herding, and used as pack animals. Equus is so large, in fact, tribes have been known to not only ride them, but attach extra large saddlebags to them, essentially making them into mobile research and crafting stations.
Craftable within the Equus' saddle inventory, the new Lasso item can be used to wrangle creatures and players while riding. Now you can live out your cowboy dreams in ARK!
If Survivors are lucky, they may come across a majestic sight. The Unicorn is the rarest creature on the Island, with it's white coat and horn protruding from its' forehead. It can be tamed just like the normal Equus. However, only one of these magical creatures naturally exists on the map at a time, so treat it with the utmost care!
Leedsichthys Conviviumbrosia is the largest fish in the waters around the island. Its meat is also extremely succulent which is unusual given its size. It is often traded with the same value as Prime Meat, and colloquially called 'Prime Fish'. Of little taming value, tribes do keep schools of Leedsichthys in pens for meat, as it is so huge, chunks of meat can be cut from it without causing it death or permanent injury.
While Leeds is normally passive towards humans, it is extremely aggressive towards boats on the open water. Rafts that enter its' territory will quickly find themselves in grave trouble and will be forced to fight or flee, or lose their home.
The alpha Leedsichthys, which is somehow even larger than the average Leeds, is massive and white in colour. If a Survivor manages to kill the beast, they will be rewarded with lots of fish meat and a special cosmetic skin hidden within it's belly.
Iguanodon Vicissitudinisis a large herbivorous dinosaur that bears a strong resemblance to the Parasaurolophus but without the distinct head crest. Iguanodon has two spike-like thumbs for prying fruits open to pick out the seeds and for stabbing would-be predators. They are as capable of walking on all fours as they are on just their hind legs. Combined with its highly effective fruit harvesting and substantial carry weight, the Iguanodon's excellent mobility in bipedal stance makes it an ideal field-hand that can also pull off a quick get-away, or an agile defense, when needed.
Considered just a "plain old" normal seagull, Ichthyornis Piscoquus lives near beaches, surviving off of native fish. While timid by nature, if tamed, they become partners for their tamer, riding their shoulders. Survivors can send their tamed Ichthy to attack small prey such as fish, dodos, and compys. The fish it brings back are rich in meat and far better than a Survivor would be able to catch by hand, making the gull very useful.
A long time coming, Patch 256 finally brings breeding to the aquatic and amphibious creatures of the ARK. Underwater eggs cannot be picked up by players as they cannot survive out of water, so plan ahead carefully! Underwater eggs will incubate in water at all times so there is no need to monitor their temperature. These adorable little ones will certainly steal their way into your heart.
In addition to all of the above (it's a lot!), this patch also includes the following:
- Lots of new in-game sounds - 1 New Hairstyle and 1 New Facial hairstyle (Growable ponytails with full physics and mutton chops!) - 30+ new Explorer Notes
From today through to April 3rd, ARK is 67% off and Scorched Earth is 51% off! If you or your friends haven't picked up a copy, now is definitely the time to do so!

Evolution Event!
Survivors will be receiving a special Evolution Event perk this weekend! The Evolution Event will be active until Monday the 3rd at 12PM EST. All Official Servers will be undergoing this evolutionary change which includes:
Patch 255 is another tech-focused patch introducing brand new TEK structures for Survivors to enhance their building experience, a new head and facial hair style, 30 explorer notes, plus four new creatures to discover, tame, and train as you explore the ARK.
With over 20 new TEK Structure pieces to play with, Survivors will be able to upgrade their bases to this new defensive tier. Similarly to the TEK released in 254, Survivors must defeat the bosses to gather the TEKnowledge necessary to use the engrams and craft the items.
Alongside the TEK tileset, we are also introducing the TEK Forcefield. The TEK Forcefield is a large dome, adjustable in size, which is powered by Element that protects all allied creatures, structures, and players within it. The forcefield provides great resistance to incoming attacks and prevents non-home members from entering the structure.
Ammonitina Multiamicus, one of the more unique creatures of the sea, the Ammonite resembles a nautilus, but much bigger. For unknown reasons, an attack on an Ammonite brings forth the wrath of all neighboring sea creatures, who will fervently defend it. This makes it a challenge to kill one, though the rewards are often worth it - the shell itself is valuable (as it is rare) and the bile can be used to concoct a variety of poison antidotes.
Electrophorus Beluadomito, a species of Knifefish. Electrophorus uses an electrical charge to zap its prey, bringing down smaller fish and eels. Tribes have been known to capture and tame schools of Electrophorus in order to use them for taking down larger aquatic animals.
Microraptor Gnarilongus, resembling a bird with a reptilian face, the Microraptor is a vicious predator that is instantly aggressive to anything its size or smaller (including humans). Able to jump, run and do short glides, Microraptor is incredibly dangerous alone or in packs, and when trained, they can take riders right out of the battle by dismounting them and stunning them during combat.
Thylacoleo Furtimorsus, also known as the "marsupial lion", Thylacoleo is a powerful predator native to the island's redwood forests. A strong bite - the strongest of any land mammal - and bolt cutter-like teeth, make this creature a formidable ambush predator, leaping from above to crush the necks of its prey. These fearless mammals have been known to climb up Redwood trees and pounce great distances as their prey come into sight.

The Final Stretch Survivors! Patch 254 is a tech-focused patch introducing new armour, structures, game mechanics, and for new friends will be available to discover, tame, and train as Survivors make their way towards defeating the Ultimate Lifeform. We are excited to introduce TEK Tier Phase 1, Hairstyles & Facial Hair, Jousting, the fluffy Ovis, the piscivorous Baryonyx, the beloved Basilosaurus, and the pouncing Purlovia!
TEK Tier is the end-game technology tier in our crafting system and as of Patch 254, players will be able to get their first taste of the content. As we progress towards release, we will be introducing more features and structures based around TEK. This update is our introductory phase and includes a power armour set, the TEK Replicator, used for crafting and the TEK Transmitter, used for the CrossARK System.
TEK Tier earned & powered by defeating Bosses and collecting their Element will put players in power armour granting them advanced abilities, and add powerful TEK Saddles with mounted energy weapons to the capabilities of some of their favourite dinos, including your favourite apex predator, the T-Rex!
Players will be able to use the TEK armour to evolve their abilities, from how they fight and travel! With many more additional features and structures to come! It should be noted that we will still be adding in technology and structures to other tech-tiers of the game throughout development!
Another long awaited feature for ARK will be making its debut today. We want to provide the opportunity to allow players to express themselves through their character design as much as possible!
As characters play on their ARKs their hair and facial hair will begin to grow over time. Using scissors, and the hairstyling knowledge they have acquired through playing the game they'll be able to dye, cut, trim and style to the appearance that they prefer! Over time we'll be introducing more hairstyles and facial hair options, as well as looking into further ways that players will be able to discover their style!
Patch 254 also includes a menagerie of new creatures for Survivors to get a hold of!
Ovis Aries, our favourite farmyard animal! Ovis stands little chance against the Island's many predators, its continued survival in the face of these severe challenges in a mystery to all. Survivors have found herds of Ovis to be useful in farm life. Their thick wool can be repeatedly sheared with the proper tools, and after raised they are often slaughtered for their mutton which is used to cook lamb chops. Despite their vulnerabilities, some survivors have humorously attempted to utilise Ovis as a mount, since it can clamber up steeper inclines than many other animals.
Basilosaurus Solatiumfecit, one of the strangest creatures surrounding the island. It has proven to be a very powerful swimmer which has adapted to shallow waters quite remarkably, such that it will rapidly recover from injuries when near the water's surface. The creature is usually followed around by other predatory creatures, as its eating habit leaves scraps for scavengers to consume. Its blubber is found to be incredibly greasy so survivors often slaughter the Basilosaurus for oil.
Purlovia Maxima, the carnivore which perfectly embodies the element of surprise. An incredibly patient hunter, used by tribes in staging an ambush or as a village guardian. With tamed packs of Purlovia, survivors have often assembled a minefield of deadly claws and teeth, ready to pounce their enemies and prey.
Baryonyx Aquafulgur, one of the smaller of the large predators. The Baryonyx is an extremely fast swimmer who is still nimble enough to threaten most creatures on the island. Baryonyx makes an ideal choice for anyone interested in frequently moving between water and land travel with ease and valuing speed and agility over raw strength. The highly specific metabolism of Baryonyx seems to allow it to heal wounds almost preternaturally fast after feeding on nutritious fish meat.
Patch 254 also introduces the highly-requested weapon, the Lance and the ability for survivors to joust one another. Ride to your nearest stadium, and compete head to head with other Survivors! Jousting requires a certain amount of skill from survivors, as the weight of the lance has made it difficult for ungifted riders to correctly control their mount, however with the right amount of practice it has proven to be a great tool to knock other survivors off of their tames!
Not to mention a number of QOL changes (Pressing the [TAB] key to switch between chat channels, and directionally jumping off your mounts plus more!) and bug fixes (Fixes to how players seep through geometry, the infamous Allosaurus 'raiding' bug, and more!) You can check out the entire patch notes here:
We are planning to release the patch today at 20:00 EST!
There's not long to go! Plus in the meantime we've also put up the notes for our next upcoming patch which you can read about here:
Upcoming Version: v255, ETA: February 20 - New Dino: Electrophorus! - New Dino: Microraptor! - New Dino: Ammonite! - New Dino: Thylacoleo! - New Mechanic: Tek Underwater Bases - New Structure: Tek Power Generator - New Structure: Tek Shield Generator - New Structure: Tek Tileset & Tek Doors - Four additional head hairstyles and four additional facial hairstyles, unlockable by acquiring Explorer Notes [MORE NOTES TO COME!]

Not to mention a number of QOL changes (Pressing the [TAB] key to switch between chat channels, and directionally jumping off your mounts plus more!) and bug fixes (Fixes to how players seep through geometry, the infamous Allosaurus 'raiding' bug, and more!)
