ARK: Survival Evolved - Jat

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riBpeB2n-2g

Patch 255 is another tech-focused patch introducing brand new TEK structures for Survivors to enhance their building experience, a new head and facial hair style, 30 explorer notes, plus four new creatures to discover, tame, and train as you explore the ARK.

With over 20 new TEK Structure pieces to play with, Survivors will be able to upgrade their bases to this new defensive tier. Similarly to the TEK released in 254, Survivors must defeat the bosses to gather the TEKnowledge necessary to use the engrams and craft the items.

Alongside the TEK tileset, we are also introducing the TEK Forcefield. The TEK Forcefield is a large dome, adjustable in size, which is powered by Element that protects all allied creatures, structures, and players within it. The forcefield provides great resistance to incoming attacks and prevents non-home members from entering the structure.

Dossier: Ammonite

Ammonitina Multiamicus, one of the more unique creatures of the sea, the Ammonite resembles a nautilus, but much bigger. For unknown reasons, an attack on an Ammonite brings forth the wrath of all neighboring sea creatures, who will fervently defend it. This makes it a challenge to kill one, though the rewards are often worth it - the shell itself is valuable (as it is rare) and the bile can be used to concoct a variety of poison antidotes.

Dossier: Electrophorus

Electrophorus Beluadomito, a species of Knifefish. Electrophorus uses an electrical charge to zap its prey, bringing down smaller fish and eels. Tribes have been known to capture and tame schools of Electrophorus in order to use them for taking down larger aquatic animals.

Dossier: Microraptor

Microraptor Gnarilongus, resembling a bird with a reptilian face, the Microraptor is a vicious predator that is instantly aggressive to anything its size or smaller (including humans). Able to jump, run and do short glides, Microraptor is incredibly dangerous alone or in packs, and when trained, they can take riders right out of the battle by dismounting them and stunning them during combat.

Dossier: Thylacoleo

Thylacoleo Furtimorsus, also known as the "marsupial lion", Thylacoleo is a powerful predator native to the island's redwood forests. A strong bite - the strongest of any land mammal - and bolt cutter-like teeth, make this creature a formidable ambush predator, leaping from above to crush the necks of its prey. These fearless mammals have been known to climb up Redwood trees and pounce great distances as their prey come into sight.

The Final Stretch Survivors! Patch 254 is a tech-focused patch introducing new armour, structures, game mechanics, and for new friends will be available to discover, tame, and train as Survivors make their way towards defeating the Ultimate Lifeform. We are excited to introduce TEK Tier Phase 1, Hairstyles & Facial Hair, Jousting, the fluffy Ovis, the piscivorous Baryonyx, the beloved Basilosaurus, and the pouncing Purlovia!

TEK Tier is the end-game technology tier in our crafting system and as of Patch 254, players will be able to get their first taste of the content. As we progress towards release, we will be introducing more features and structures based around TEK. This update is our introductory phase and includes a power armour set, the TEK Replicator, used for crafting and the TEK Transmitter, used for the CrossARK System.

TEK Tier earned & powered by defeating Bosses and collecting their Element will put players in power armour granting them advanced abilities, and add powerful TEK Saddles with mounted energy weapons to the capabilities of some of their favourite dinos, including your favourite apex predator, the T-Rex!

Players will be able to use the TEK armour to evolve their abilities, from how they fight and travel! With many more additional features and structures to come! It should be noted that we will still be adding in technology and structures to other tech-tiers of the game throughout development!

Another long awaited feature for ARK will be making its debut today. We want to provide the opportunity to allow players to express themselves through their character design as much as possible!

As characters play on their ARKs their hair and facial hair will begin to grow over time. Using scissors, and the hairstyling knowledge they have acquired through playing the game they'll be able to dye, cut, trim and style to the appearance that they prefer! Over time we'll be introducing more hairstyles and facial hair options, as well as looking into further ways that players will be able to discover their style!

Patch 254 also includes a menagerie of new creatures for Survivors to get a hold of!

Ovis Dino Dossier

Ovis Aries, our favourite farmyard animal! Ovis stands little chance against the Island's many predators, its continued survival in the face of these severe challenges in a mystery to all. Survivors have found herds of Ovis to be useful in farm life. Their thick wool can be repeatedly sheared with the proper tools, and after raised they are often slaughtered for their mutton which is used to cook lamb chops. Despite their vulnerabilities, some survivors have humorously attempted to utilise Ovis as a mount, since it can clamber up steeper inclines than many other animals.

Basilosaurus Dino Dossier

Basilosaurus Solatiumfecit, one of the strangest creatures surrounding the island. It has proven to be a very powerful swimmer which has adapted to shallow waters quite remarkably, such that it will rapidly recover from injuries when near the water's surface. The creature is usually followed around by other predatory creatures, as its eating habit leaves scraps for scavengers to consume. Its blubber is found to be incredibly greasy so survivors often slaughter the Basilosaurus for oil.

Purlovia Dino Dossier

Purlovia Maxima, the carnivore which perfectly embodies the element of surprise. An incredibly patient hunter, used by tribes in staging an ambush or as a village guardian. With tamed packs of Purlovia, survivors have often assembled a minefield of deadly claws and teeth, ready to pounce their enemies and prey.

Baryonyx Dino Dossier

Baryonyx Aquafulgur, one of the smaller of the large predators. The Baryonyx is an extremely fast swimmer who is still nimble enough to threaten most creatures on the island. Baryonyx makes an ideal choice for anyone interested in frequently moving between water and land travel with ease and valuing speed and agility over raw strength. The highly specific metabolism of Baryonyx seems to allow it to heal wounds almost preternaturally fast after feeding on nutritious fish meat.

Patch 254 also introduces the highly-requested weapon, the Lance and the ability for survivors to joust one another. Ride to your nearest stadium, and compete head to head with other Survivors! Jousting requires a certain amount of skill from survivors, as the weight of the lance has made it difficult for ungifted riders to correctly control their mount, however with the right amount of practice it has proven to be a great tool to knock other survivors off of their tames!

Not to mention a number of QOL changes (Pressing the [TAB] key to switch between chat channels, and directionally jumping off your mounts plus more!) and bug fixes (Fixes to how players seep through geometry, the infamous Allosaurus 'raiding' bug, and more!) You can check out the entire patch notes here:

We are planning to release the patch today at 20:00 EST!

There's not long to go! Plus in the meantime we've also put up the notes for our next upcoming patch which you can read about here:

ARK: Survival Evolved - Jat

A new Dino Dossier has been revealed, this one is everyone’s favourite fluffy farmyard friend, the Sheep!

Hello Survivors!

We were encouraged by Valve to rally the Community to come together and vote in the upcoming Steam Awards. We thought what better way to do this than add a modern-day farmyard animal! In our excitement, Ovis Aries was designed as a fun celebration of the nomination. We want to make it clear that regardless of whether ARK wins a Steam Award or not, Ovis will be making its debut in the next major ARK version update!

If you hadn’t caught up, ARK has been nominated by the Steam Selection Committee for a Steam Award! We are a finalist in this category:

The “Best Use Of A Farm Animal” Award - Animals are rad and almost any game is better for including them. This game used a farm animal in the best way possible.

Voting has begun, and we'd appreciate if everyone can vote today at http://store.steampowered.com/SteamAwards/!

We are really honored by the nomination, and are thankful for all the support plus ARK’s recognition in this category. Whilst ARK’s animals may be non-traditional in modern farming, some have held such roles in the past, and ARK contains a variety of animal farming mechanics: such as wild animal taming, breeding, slaughtering/harvesting of animals, workhorse animals (for resource/crop farming), and of course who can forget working with animal byproducts (manure, milk, and other substances).

Thank you and happy shearing (& mutton chopping) in ARK v254:)

Season's Greeting Survivors!

It's that most wonderful time of year again, a time of celebration, joy, and sharing. And we have a lot to share with you in this update!

Join Raptor Claus as he darts across the night sky in his sleigh, air-dropping presents filled with high-end Loot Blueprints, Mistletoe, or Coal for naughty Survivors. Survivors can trade in Santa's gifts for Reindeer Costumes, Candy Cane Club Weapons, Santa Hats, and if they collect enough Coal, they might even be able to summon the elusive holiday-themed DodoRex to do their bidding for a limited time!

Along with this holiday-themed update, we are also excited to unveil content Patch 253! Which includes two new full-scale underwater caves and setting free five new creatures: Cnidaria, Troodon, Tusoteuthis, Pegomastax, and the Therizinosaurus. Not to mention an extra special surprise, allowing survivors to truly enjoy every passing moment, and make them even more beautiful and memorable than ever before: a camera item used to take in-game photographs, which can then be applied to the in-game Painting Canvas! Tek Tier Phase 1 will now make its debut in January's ARK v254, which will be previewed in-depth with additional items at the start of the new year, more details can be found here!

Dossier

Cnidaria Omnimorph, a combination of everything good and bad about various species of Jellyfish, the Cnidaria is too simple to tame or train, but tribes keep schools of them around for their bioluminescence and their ability to sting. Containing them in pools around a camp is a great way to make a barrier of swimming, stinging security that also illuminates the night. They also drop a special biotoxin which can be used to create shockingly powerful torpor darts.

Dossier

Pegomastax Fructarator, a relatively harmless herbivore who prefers to live alone and gorges on just about any plants it can find. Far from the definition of "pretty", Pegomastax features a nasty looking beak (with tusks for extra effect!) and feathers, making him a unique sight on the island. Some tribes keep a few Pegomastax around, as they are excellent scavengers, and are notoriously known for their thieving ability.

Dossier

Therizinosaurus Multiensis, is one of the strangest dinosaurs on the islands. Built like a T-Rex, this herbivore possesses great harvesting abilities. Its claws allow it to perform both brute-force or delicate actions; from taking down enemies (though it would prefer to just leave them alone) to plucking leaves from a particularly tasty bush. Because of this ability, Therizinosaurus are always handy to have around for harvesting specific resources, or, when needed, decimating enemies in combat.

Dossier

Troodon Magnanimus, outside of human beings, the Troodon might just be the cleverest creature on the island. You don't "tame" a Troodon, you earn its loyalty through its social nature and love of the hunt. Their ability to scout is second to none, and often you will see tribes adventuring out with Troodon, as they are often considered a smaller relative of the island's Raptors, but arguably no less dangerous, especially because of their love of the hunt.

Dossier

Tusoteuthis Vampyrus, a monstrous relative of the vampire squid, Tusoteuthis bears a closer resemblance to giant squids. It may be slow, but the aquatic Tusoteuthis is a horrific threat to anyone who dares get too close, using its tentacles to first grab, then crush...and then syphon the blood out of, its hapless victims. Tribes will sometimes tame this nightmare of the deep in order to extract its unique ink, which contains oils that can be processed into fuels.

Patch 253 also introduces two brand new underwater progression-oriented caves to TheIsland, with new artifacts and challenges!

Intrepid survivors will want to suit up and explore these new depths to uncover high-end loot, fight the terrifying creatures, discover two brand new artifacts, as well as uncover the mysteries of the ARK.

And for those of you who want to relive the experience, but not take the plunge themselves - you can! With a brand new camera! Survivors can snap pictures of their adventures, and instantly paint them on a canvas, reliving the memory whenever they so choose!

Patch 253 also includes; additional network performance gains, various new ARK DevKit features and hooks, and BattlEye has been enabled by default for Dedicated Servers (use -NoBattlEye to run without!)

ARK Winter Steam Sale!

The Steam's Winter sale is now live which means ARK: Survival Evolved can be tamed on PC/Mac/Linux for a 60% discount and the Scorched Earth Expansion Pack is also available at 33% off! Or introduce someone new to the game, this holiday season by gifting them the Survivor's Pack Bundle!
