Earlier this week we launched an updated development kit in partnership with Epic Games, which includes a streamlined version of the UE4 Editor to simplify the creation and sharing process of ARK Mods! You can get it for free here!!

And with those updated tools, came out new modding initiative! We’ve partnered up with Alienware and NVIDIA GeForce to host our very own modding contest!

The contest objective is to use our development kit and create your very own ARK Survival Evolved mod! The more creative and in depth the mod can be, the better it is! For those who enter the contest, here’s what you have a chance at winning!

For those who hadn’t seen earlier we recently added our new apelike friend to ARK Universe! Including a little spotlight of what this new strange creature is capable of.

The Gigantopithecus Fibrarator is a strange creature. It is usually quite passive, but it has a very short temper when it comes to it's personal space. Once, another creature gets close, this gentle giant quickly becomes a rampaging beast! It can be tamed via careful, non-violent feeding without raising its aggression, when domesticated the hairy-apelike creature can don a helmet on it's head and ride it's survivor on it's shoulders to utilize its tremendous strength and throw them over enemy barricades and walls!

Over the past few weeks we have been working very hard with our partners to launch something special for everyone involved in ARK! Today we are excited to announce plenty of exciting news, including a new game mode, the updated development kit and the modding contest!




As of today we have now released an updated development kit, with a streamlined version of the UE4 Editor to simplify the creation and sharing process of ARK: Survival Evolved mods! You can download it for free via the Epic Games launcher here!

The updated tools will include everything in the game thus far, as well as provide the players with the own ability to make their own changes, introduce their own weapons, creatures and items into their own version of ARK!

With the release of our new development kit and modding contest, we are also pleased to finally officially announce the ARK Survival of the Fittest (SotF) game mode! This is a mode which was created using our new total conversion game system and now available to download via the Steam Workshop!



SoTF was first debuted worldwide on August the 1st where we gathered up your favourite content creators to host a 70-survivor slaughter fest of a tournament! The event was a great success and since then we have been working on bringing the game mode to the public in the form of a new mod type.



Each SotF battle takes place on a modified version of the ARK Island, with the objective being to eliminate all other survivors before they can eliminate you. The map is covered by a dome-shaped forcefield that shrinks as the match progresses and there have been many alterations made to the core-game which effect leveling, taming, gathering to ensure that players are able to reach the end game before the dome completely shrinks. Survivors not only have to worry about each other and the elements, but also the mysterious ‘Evolution Events’ which take place every 30 minutes and can have a major impact on the game, such as drastic weather changes, or predators falling from the sky.



With the release of the Survival of the Fittest game mode within the Dev Kit, also comes the full source content so aspiring mod creators can see how this game-changing “Total Conversion” has been put together and make it their own!



And finally in celebration of the contest, the new game mode and the updated dev tools, ARK will be on sale at a discounted rate! You can pick it a copy for yourself or a friend from Steam which will be hosting a 20% reduction, or grab it from Amazon with their 25% discount!
