Apan’s Introduction - Story:
Among the Asva tribe, she is known as “Clan Mother”. She was barely out of childhood when her talent for healing started to show. As a youth, she would participate in her tribe’s battles to treat and nurse the soldiers but wasn’t above picking up a weapon and fight when it was called for.
In one of those wars, she nursed to health a young warrior named Dhal, the son of their tribe chief, from critical wounds. They started courting and got married on the midsummer day, under the lucky shade of willows. As a gift, on their marriage day, Dhal gave Apan a magical dragon-shaped flying kite, upon which she could ride over the entire lands of the north in a day and a night.
Years later, when she spied the amassed pitch-black clouds in the distant south, she decided that she was needed in the midlands, and she arrived there to give aid to the Bergsons in their fight against the Corruption.
Apan’s Introduction - Gameplay:
Apan is as skilled in providing vital support for the companions on the battlefield as in wielding a sturdy staff. Weapons’ reach makes Apan perfect for delivering deadly mid-range strikes and her special Asva Pulse dash ability leaves the opponents hindered in the dust. Her spells cover a large area of effect, and all the Bergsons can take advantage from Apan’s medical knowledge as she boosts the effects of the healing potions. Also, a new system lets the family gain shields from items, abilities, and Apan’s Rage skill. In other words - her presence makes them all stronger, especially in the battle.

We're also super happy to say that the new character design was done by a backer and his partner from the game’s Kickstarter campaign! They believed in our project since the very early stage and we are super thankful for that! Here's what these backers - known as AgaRar and GlueBubble - had to say about the idea that inspired the Apan's creation: “The idea for Apan came from the brainstorming of myself and my partner. We originally made her an orphan but later changed her to a mother to better compliment the Children of Morta story and family theme. A strong leader of nomadic healers who allies herself with the Bergsons to aid them in their fight against Corruption. We hope that our inspiration and Dead Mage's hard work translates into a character that you all will enjoy for years to come.”.

Main Apan skills:
Asva ThunderclapApan focuses the energy around her and releases it at enemies to push back, slow, and damage them.Magic GlyphUsing her staff, Apan channels energy around her, creating an area that damages and slows enemies in it. Guardian’s RageApan unleashes her rage at a protective manner, granting shield to herself and the Bergsons around her.
Added 32 Apan-specific Runes and 6 new Runes for other Bergsons to aid them in combat:
Apan Trait for Linda: the primary critical attack has a chance to gain a shield
Apan Trait for Kevin: Kevin gains shield when he exits shadow dance
Apan Trait for John: the primary attack has a chance to gain a shield
Apan Trait for Lucy: when lucy uses her decoy, she gains a shield
Apan Trait for Mark: marks gains shield when he uses his stick
Apan Trait for Joey: joey's smite gives him a shield
Added new Shield System:
Bergsons can gain shield now, from items, abilities and Apan’s Guardian Rage skill
The shield will add on top of HP bar in HUD with an indicator of the amount of shield
Shields are temporary and can stack up
When characters have shield all of the receiving damages will be blocked by it till the shield amount ends or shield duration finished.
Lucy Guardian Rage skill will now add her Shield instead of increasing her maximum health
Added new Rage Globes drop: Added new Rage Globes drop - refill your rage meter faster! Rage Globes drop with the similar rules as Health Globes. Note: Rage Globes will be added to Nintendo Switch version of the game in a few days, so don’t be alarmed if you don’t see it there, yet!
HUD Tooltip Rework:
Buff panel now supports and shows more character buffs, including the passive skill of characters skill tree
Buffs now auto-scroll when players have more than 9 buffs in normal HUD size and 7 buffs in Larger HUD
Divine Grace tooltip also will auto-scroll when players have more than 8 relics
Runes are now visible on the minimap
UI changes:
Added HP indicator for Decoys and Totem Divine Relics

Fixed several issues with Gambler prompts

How to unlock the new character (minor spoilers):
Apan will be unlocked after watching her intro cutscene.
Apan intro cutscene conditions are met when players reach the second floor of Ziggurat dungeon in Barahut chapter.
If in the loaded save slot players have cleared the Ziggurat dungeon already, Apan intro cutscene will be played by going to any dungeon and returning home.
Apan intro cutscene has less "weight" against main story cutscenes. If there are other cutscenes in the queue, Apan intro cutscene will not play till all of the important cutscenes are watched in the house.

On top of that, we have some new info about the upcoming updates! Here's the current state of our journey along the Development Roadmap: 1. As you've noticed by now, even with a map in hand, sometimes we have to take detours and diverge from our original path. "Not all those who wander are lost", however. We absolutely still plan to deliver all the promised content, we just had to change the order of the updates and merge one with another.

You've probably noticed that Steam is downloading some kind of update for Children of Morta. Don't be alarmed! It's just a simple Hotfix for the Setting Sun Inn Update! ːwinter2019surprisedyulː
Here's the list of changes:
Fixed the issue in NG+ where dungeon selector disappears after certain steps;
Fixed the issue where NG+ could not be started if the base game was completed before Hard Mode update was introduced to the game;
This Update is already available on Steam and GOG. We're releasing it soon (tomorrow, probably) on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Store. We have to ask our Nintendo Switch users for more patience, though - due to additional certification the updating proces may take up to few weeks.

Word has it that the brave Bergson family continues their journey along the Children of Morta development roadmap with the addition of the New Game+ Update. This free update includes - you've guessed it - New Game+ content with tons of additional lore in stunning new cutscenes and quests. So, don't be shy, join the family for another round - it’s on the house!

As you could expect, the New Game+ Mode encourages you to follow the Bergson’s journey again, this time with an increase in difficulty, character skill point caps, and upgrades in both Ben’s workshop and Margaret’s lab.
We have also enriched the lore of the game with more than 50 new cutscenes, home events, and activities. We believe these additional pieces of story will strengthen your bond to the Bergson family and the wondrous world of Rea. In addition to the New Game+ content, new family-related quests have been added to the dungeons and will appear during the first playthrough as well. The update is available on all platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

The Bergson family fought the Corruption without a glimpse of respite but their journey is far from over. Shrine of Challenge marks the first stop at a new, exciting branch in the story. The addition of Hard Mode will provide a greater challenge, and experience rewards, even to players already toughened by hundreds of battles. Along with new fight rules and enemies, all-new items come to help the fearless heroes purge their homeland of evil.

Setting Sun Inn invites you to New Game+ mode in which players carry their unlocked characters, skill tree, Morv, and Workshop Upgrades into a new playthrough after completing the game.
Random Encounter means what it says and says what it means - you’ll never know what you might find here!
In the Bergsons’ House a new playable character awaits.
The Fellowship Sanctuary adds the much anticipated online co-op to the game.
Temple of the Endless contains a series of arenas with waves of enemies, mini-bosses, and a new boss. This Endless Mode fully supports online co-op.
The Treasure update will contain more than 30 new items including Charms, Divine Graces and Divine Relics.
All this should prepare you for The Uncharted Lands. The next journey for the Bergson family will be a brand new DLC chapter with the main quest and a home event, another playable hero, new enemies, and a new boss.

It's too early for us to confirm any specific dates - we want to be sure that the content we're releasing is polished and as bug-free as possible. We're going to reveal the date (and share more details!) for each update closer to its release.

We are proud to team up once again with the developers of Moonlighter and take on an ambitious project from Fool’s Theory! Both projects -- in various stages of development with further details coming in 2020 and beyond -- are bigger in scope than anything 11 bit has previously published.
“We’re still an extremely picky publisher. We’re probably even pickier than we were before if you can believe it! Our job is to hand-pick true gems and put our best efforts in with the development teams to help make them shine. We believe in boosting unique projects and using all the marketing magic we have to see them succeed. Right now, we’ve got two projects we’re really proud to have under our wing,” - Pawel Feldman, Publishing Director at 11 bit studios.
Details are sparse right now (gotta save all that marketing magic for later), but we can reveal the following:
We are beyond thrilled to be teaming up with Poland-based Fool’s Theory for their latest project, codenamed Vitriol. The studio behind the artfully created stealth title, Seven: The Days Long Gone, is developing a game best described as a meaningful RPG. Jakub Rokosz, CEO at Fool’s Theory says, “We are truly happy to align with 11 bit studios. They’re known for their ability to find the unique spirit in a game and I believe our upcoming title fits impeccably with the type of projects they like to work on.”
You might also say that we are ‘over the Moon(lighter)’ to be teaming up once more with Digital Sun Games. There’s nothing to divulge just yet, but rest assured that the hard-working Spanish developer is putting the same care and attention into their new project (codename Foxhole) as they did with their critically acclaimed indie hit, Moonlighter, but this time it’s a totally new IP. “We badly wanted to work with these guys again. As a team, we feel 11 bit did a great job with Moonlighter and we both want to do even better things together. It’s really as simple as that, ” says Javier Gimenez, CEO at Digital Sun Games.

We know you can't wait for the online co-op to be added to Children of Morta! We're working on it along with other updates, worry not. But in the meantime, Steam has launched an awesome functionality called Remote Play Together. It lets you play local multiplayer games with Steam Friends online, EVEN when the game doesn't natively support online play.
