It’s almost here! The launch of BattleBlock Theater on Steam! If you haven’t read it already, here are the words of our leader in a public conversation with himself and viewers like you: BBT Steam Release Date Announcement.

If you’re just as excited as we are about the release of BattleBlock Theater on Steam, then we hope you’ll join us from 3:30PM-5:00PM PDT on our TwitchTV channel. This Twitch stream will be following our Reddit AMA (which starts at 10:30AM PDT).

We’ll be celebrating the launch live by playing through the game and giving all of you on the interwebs a chance to win some prizes! We’ll be doing a contest to give out BattleBlock Theater Duckshark hats and Raccoon hats, but you’re going to have to come on the stream to find out how to enter!

On May 15th, we’re launching BattleBlock Theater Steam! We're also updating Castle Crashers so you can now unlock Hatty if you own the full versions of both BBT Steam and CC Steam. Learn more about how this could affect you and your children by watching this video.


So here’s the break down of what’s available starting May 15th:

• Can’t Stop Crying Pack: If you own both Castle Crashers and BattleBlock Theater, you’ll be unlocking the Castle Crashers knight in BattleBlock Theater Steam and in Castle Crashers Steam you’ll get Hatty, the Golden Whale orb, and Gem Sword.
  
  
• Can’t Stop Laughing Bundle: Don’t own either game yet? You’ll be able to purchase Castle Crashers Steam and BattleBlock Theater on Steam as a bundle for a discounted price. Then you’ll automatically unlock the Can’t Stop Crying Pack! Cry and laugh on the same day.
  
  
  
• Behemoth Loyalty Discount: If you already own Castle Crashers Steam, then we’d like to say THANK YOU. There will be a loyalty discount given to those who previously purchased Castle Crashers and just want one copy of BattleBlock Theater.
  
  
• Ultra Baby’s Co-op Chaos Pack: If you only want to get BattleBlock Theater Steam and you want to play with a friend, then this 2-pack gives you a discount for two copies!

I have several good things to tell you!

What’s May 15th got to do with anything? Oh, I remember now. BattleBlock Theater is releasing on Steam for Windows & Linux! Yes that’s what I wanted to say. And that’s all. Nothing else to say.

WAIT, NO. I forgot some other stuff. We’ve done some great things during the development of the Steam version that should make everything a little bit better and nothing a little bit worse (as far as I know!!!!!). Cats are fatter, weapons can be immediately switched, Steam Trading, Steam Trading Cards, alterations of the “better” variety exist for sure. The base price for such splendor shall be $14.99.

“$14.99?”, you say? “The Splendor overtakes my being! I am so happy I don’t even know what else I could be saying and I should be getting it right now instead of talking!” “Yes” I reply, “But you cannot get it now because it isn’t May 15th yet.“*

If you were a Steam Beta Tester for us I’d like to let you know that your copy of the game will be FREE. That’s right – Beta Testers shall get their copy for FREE! This is our way of saying thank you for helping us identify any threats.

“Should I remember to delete the Beta before diving in to avoid any weirdness?” You ask. “Why yes, how thoughtful of you!”* I reply.

If you didn't keep up with PAX East news last weekend, then you may have missed the news that BattleBlock Theater Steam will be coming out at $14.99 USD once it's released. We just did a recap of all our PAX East 2014 announcements HERE.

After two weeks of rigorous beta testing, we’ve determined that we are in fact developing a game! In true Behemoth fashion we have no current release date, BUT…we know the price. $14.99 US Dollars! Did we mention we’ll be coming to Steam for Windows first, with Linux later this year? Not yet? Well there it is! Lots to celebrate and look forward to.
