During the mid 1960s, Israel began researching the possibility of developing and manufacturing a domestically designed tank. The need for such a vehicle became even more emphasized after failed negotiations with Great Britain around the same time led to Israel not being permitted to licence produce the Chieftain MBT. Thus, during the late 1960s official development on a domestic Israeli tank began.

The big submarine chasers of Project 122bis are an upgraded version of the submarine chasers of Project 122. In addition to enhanced anti-air weapons, the ship has received a bomb rocket launcher for destroying submarines.

The premium Pr.122bis is one of the prizes that players can get in the “Battlefield Engineer” special!

The significantly upgraded version of the Project 122 small patrol boats designated Project 122bis MASB has been evaluated by experts as one of the most successful models in its class in the Soviet navy. This version varies from the Project 122 and 122A versions due to its new powertrain, differently-constructed cabin and enhanced anti-air weapons (aft 37mm autocannons), as well as other improvements. The Soviet navy began employing the RGB-12 rocket-powered bomb against enemy subs in 1953. In later versions, the boats of Project 122bis had bomb launchers mounted on their fore sections for firing these rocket-powered bombs – two rail-type launchers with a constant firing arc that could be aimed horizontally by correcting the ship’s course. The Soviet navy used the submarine chasers of Project 122bis until the late 60s, and they also exported them to many other countries.

The Junkers Ju 388J is a German late-war high altitude bomber hunter, designed in response to threat posed by the new American B-29 Superfortress bomber. War Thunder players will have the chance to obtain this aircraft as part of the upcoming ”Battlefield Engineer” event!

The Ju 388J is perfectly outfitted for combat operations at high altitudes and thanks to its impressive armaments, a specialist in hunting down heavy bombers commonly found at the higher ranks. .





Although the Ju 388J was derived from its medium bomber counterpart, the aircraft isn’t able to carry any additional payloads on board, such as bombs or rockets. This is due to the fact that the internal bomb bay on the aircraft had to be removed in order to house the aircraft’s primary cannon armaments. However, the Ju 388J does feature a remote controlled defensive turret in the tail section of the aircraft. The turret is equipped with two 13mm machine guns and possesses excellent firing angles on the aircraft’s rear hemisphere and the premium status of the vehicle will allow its pilots to expect increased earnings in battles and faster research of other German aircraft.

The I-180 is an experimental pre-war further development of the renowned I-16 fighter, intended to offer much improved performance over its predecessor. The I-180S, a production version of the aircraft built only in limited numbers, will await War Thunder players as one of the prizes obtainable in the upcoming ”Battlefield Engineer” event!

More powerful compared to the I-16 radial engine allows the aircraft to develop quite a decent speed for its rank: the I-180S is able to reach a very impressive top speed of 585 km/h at medium altitudes.

We called it “conspiracy theories” but it turned out to be true. The US city of Green Hills has become the scene of an intergalactic cyber-sports game in which aliens use humans as pilots of alien war machines. We need to know the truth!

From 11:00 GMT on the 1st of April until 11:00 GMT on the 5th of April join the Earth Thunder alien battles in the arena. You can find the entrance to the arena in the “Event” tab in the game client!

Aliens exist, they have long since infiltrated the governments of different countries and are able to easily manipulate the minds of citizens. Green Hills, with its unique geographical landscape, has attracted the attention of extraterrestrials as an arena for alien fighting machines, and the human pilots of these mysterious objects are zombified by alien invaders. Pilots picked from part of the population of Green Hills are still being kept somewhere in the city in a hypnotic state of re-animation.

Today we are ready to push back the veil of secrecy for you, you will see the truth with your own eyes. Stay tuned to be the first to learn more about the Green Hills investigation.

The German Leopard 2A5 was a main focus of one of our past April Fools’ Events. Not much time has passed since then, and we are now happy to present you this new top-tier vehicle in the German ground forces tech tree – this time we are dead serious!

In War Thunder, the Leopard 2A5 will be at rank VII of the German Ground Vehicles tech tree and can be researched right after the 2A4. The tanks primary-armament, the wonderful Rheinmetall L/44 gun, remained unchanged on this variant. However, this version of the Leopard does receive a new type of projectile that packs even more punch than the rest – the fin-stabilized discarding-sabot DM33 shell with a penetration capacity of up to 480 mm on normal impact.

The turret underwent the most noticeable changes – the gun mantlet was completely overhauled and each of its sides were fitted with massive hollow armour modules that provided extra protection to the front and shoulders of the turret. These modules are destructible though and unlike ERA able to survive several shots producing a combined defensive effect. The multilayered wall structure of such one module serves as the first threshold for redistributing the blast impact of a HEAT round or guided missile, while the hollow part plays the role of spaced armour plating.





The Leopard 2A5 turned out a worthy top-tier tank for one of the most popular in-game nations. Good maneuverability, a precise gun with new high-penetration projectiles, and almost perfect stabilization with incredibly sturdy defences thanks to the new turret design. Should cater to the bravest and most combative tacticians on the battlefield. This new Leopard is excellent – and we are dead serious about it!

The Super Mystère is the final aircraft in the French Mystère family of jet fighters and the first one to attain supersonic speeds in level flight. In update 1.87 “Locked on!”, French pilots may look forward to also receiving access to rank VI aviation with the introduction of the highly anticipated Super Mystère B.2!

In War Thunder, the Super Mystère B.2 will introduce French pilots to the action-packed and fast-paced combat found in rank VI air battles. Fast, well armed and sporting a wide arrange of secondary armament options, the long-awaited Super Mystère will allow French pilots to take on almost any opponent in both air and combined battles alike!
