The FOCKE-WULF Fw 190 D9
Entering service in 1944, the Fw 190 D9 (or “Long Nose Dora”) was an immediate success with Luftwaffe pilots because of its engine reliability and performance in climb, dive, roll and level speed. A top speed of 430mph and range of 520 miles made it a much better interceptor against the fighter-escorted Allied bomber formations. Armament was 2 20mm Mauser MG-151/20 cannon in the wing and 2 13mm Rheinmetall MG-131 cannon over the engine. The D9’s crisp controls and tight firepower made it able to zoom in, get shots on target, and then escape in the blink of an eye.
The LAVOCHKIN LA-7
Widely acknowledged as one of the best warplanes of WWII, the LA-7 featured superb aerodynamics, a powerful Shvetsov engine, and exceptional armaments. Some of Russia’s top aces flew Lavochkins, including Ivan Kozhedub (“Ivan the Terrible”) - 3 times Hero of the Soviet Union and the leading Allied ace, crediting all of his 62 victories to Lavochkins. Armed with 3 20 mm (0.79 in) cannon, the LA-7 ended the superiority in vertical manoeuvrability that the Messerschmitt Bf 109G had previously enjoyed over other Soviet fighters.
The MUSTANG P51-D (Mustang Mk IV)
Originally designed and produced by North American Aviation for the British Royal Air Force (RAF) and later adopted by the U.S. Army Air Forces (USAAF), the P51-D was so successful it was eventually flown by 14 of the 15 of USAAF’s fighter groups. Fitted with a Packard-Merlin 61 engine and the distinctive Plexiglas “bubble” canopy for all-around vision, the P51-D had a top speed of 440mph and a cruising speed of 362 mph. Armed with 6 wing-mounted 0.50-inch machine guns it was also superior in air-to-air combat, playing a huge role in defeating the Luftwaffe. It could be fitted with 500-pound bombs bolstering its capabilities as a close air support platform.

In a change designed to help new players, we've made a visual change to objects you can interact with. Crates, weapons and vehicles will be automatically highlighted when you get close. Hit markers can now also be toggled on and off as an option.
