I’m here to let you know about an event we’ve prepared for our testers who are participating in the Shadow Arena Beta. 

So, check out the details below. 

 

EVENT 1. Super Laytenn Showdown!

In the name of the GM—I command thee—be summoned to this very battlefield, ancient weapon of despair!
O’ source of abyssal darkness, the forgotten ancient weapon, Laytenn!

Heed my call!

“Th..this is..! The sound of Laytenn awakening!?”

Making its appearance in Shadow Arena—it’s the ancient weaponLaytenn!
Take control of this ancient weapon summoned from the darkness and defeat your foes with Laytenn’s might!

■ How To Participate
1) During the event period, the GMs will create Private rooms and provide announcements by in-game notice
2) Once the match starts, GMs will summon Laytennto the battlefield.
3) Take control (Hotkey: R) of Laytenn and become the last one standing!

- You can participate in the survey multiple times, but you can only be selected as a winner once. (Nickname based)

How to obtain: Silver is earned when you obtain items, defeat Thief Goblins in the battlefield, and when all gameplay has completed.

Where to use: Costs 100 silver to select and take items. 

 
Description: Use the matchlock to aim and fire to inflict damage 
How to use: The matchlock ignores the enemies’ armor and can inflict around -2,000 damage.

※ The matchlock also knocks over the enemy so you can continue attacking them further.


You can take items obtained in the battlefield into other matches, as you will obtain items in your inventory by achieving certain points from defeating heroes or monsters.

■ Take out items (End Game screen)
After the match has ended, you are shown 3 of the items you obtained in the current arena at random.

※ Items in your inventory at the moment of death on the battlefield.




Spend 100 silver to view the 3 random items, choose 1, then click the [Seal] button to take it away.

■ Using Sealed Items
The sealed item you’ve taken away will be available to view in your storage.
You can select 1 item from your storage to take into different battles.

You cannot use sealed items immediately in battle
but you can break the seal if you carry out special missions listed on the right side of your screen.
These special missions involve defeating monsters or other players to gather points.Once you meet the amount of points required by a certain item’s rank, you can obtain that item.

※ Items are automatically sent to your inventory.

1. Recruit Team Members and Start

In Team Battle, you need to either recruit other players or add players in your friend list to start.
(However, you can play by yourself  in Team Battle, and you can receive more rewards when you complete your game.)

Click the + button to invite players in your friend list or match automatically

Once all players have been invited, the Party Leader can press the Start Game button to move to select their hero.


Select the items you wish to bring to the arena in the Sealed Box, then press Ready to enter.[
However, other members of your team need to be ready as well. You can check their status on the lower right-hand corner.

 

2. Tips for Team Battle

1. Use the Minimap/Worldmap
In Team mode, you can see your team member’s location on the minimap (upper right-hand corner) and worldmap (Tab). Use the maps to plan out your strategy together with your team.

2. Throw Items Away
Open your Inventory (I) to discard gear and consumables with Shift + Left Click or by dragging them.
Items thrown away on the ground can be looted by your team member. 
However, be wary that characters not in your team can also loot them as well.

※ When one team member shares items they don’t need with another, they can collect items to combine into and obtain high-rank items. 


3. Revive Team Member
▲ 6 min after the game starts, you will see the above notification that the Relic of Revival has appeared.


▲Destroy the Relic of Revival that appears in the shrine in the center to revive fallen team members.

After a team member dies, and you destroy the Relic of Revival that appears 6 min after the game has started, you can interact with the Shadow Shrine. Interact with the Shadow Shrine to revive your team member. Also, the person who revived the team member will slowly recover all of their health.

※ After you destroy the Relic of Revival, it will reappear after a certain amount of time.

The Ancient Altar is a special location that offers a variety of buffs or items, and is the place you can also summon the ancient weapon Laytenn.




There are a total of 6 Ancient Altars within the battlefield.

You can obtain the “Call of the Ancients” buff upon defeating a Shadow Lord, and after obtaining the buff, if you destroy the Altar’s Artifact, you will activate the Ancient Altar.

After activating the Ancient Altar, you obtain items and summonable creatures by destroying the relics that appear.

■ Laytenn


When you summon the mighty ancient weapon, Laytenn, you can operate it until its health is completely depleted.

While riding Laytenn, its health will steadily decrease even if you don’t take damage, and once all health is depleted you will be forced out of the weapon.

Befitting of its name, the ancient weapon Laytenn commands a fearsome presence raining destruction down on its enemies each time it moves.

 ※ You can ride a Laytenn summoned by another player.

 
■ Elixir of Life
Use the elixir of life to instantly recover 8000 HP.
Also, it does not share a cooldown with regular HP potions. 


■ Brilliant Enlightenment
Obtain Brilliant Enlightenment to gain 5 Skill Points.


■ Goddess’ Blessing
Obtain the Goddess’ Blessing to buff both AP, DP +150 for 5 min.


■ Aal’s Eye
Obtain Aal’s Eye to mark nearby enemies on the minimap.

Greetings, this is Shadow Arena.

Our game is a “fantasy arena fighter” where you compete against other players to become the final survivor, the sole champion.

While Shadow Arena is a combat-orientated game that emphasizes back-and-forth battles, it also implements RPG elements such as monster farming in a “Shadow Arena-style” which let players feel a larger variety of engagement.


In this Beta, we want to show the action-packed combat of Shadow Arena and get feedback, so we can deliver a more complete and finished game. We hope for your participation and support!

Each hero has their own Mastery.

You can gain Hero Mastery experience based on your rank after each match ends. [/u]

Mastery can go up to Lv. 10.

In addition, you can acquire Skill Stones each time your hero’s Mastery increases.
Use Skill Stones to enhance your hero’s skill of choice.

You can earn a Skill Stone every time your Hero Mastery increases.

Skill Stones are used to enhance heroes’ skills.

Each hero has 5 skills, which can all be enhanced via Skill Enhancement. Also, the greater number of enhanced skills your hero has, the greater the number of Skill Stones you will need to continue enhancing your skills.




When you select your hero, you can see their Skill Enhancement options on the right-hand side of the screen and select to take them into the arena.
Usually, you can select up to 2 enhanced skills. However, you can select up to 3 enhanced skills if all the skills of a hero are enhanced.

There is a small chance to get the item “Red Dragon's Offering” by killing monsters.

A red dragon will swoop in quickly from far away when you use this item.
The dragon will fire “Red Dragon's Breath” towards the location you used the offering at.

“Red Dragon's Breath” engulfs the area in flames. Death is most likely for heroes caught in these flames, so quick thinking is required to escape the red dragon’s wrath when it appears. Note that heroes who use the offering can also get burned by the flames, so use it with caution.

As of February 25 (Thu), the much awaited tester selection has been completed, and those selected as testers have been sent a notification email to the email address they provided when they registered for the Beta.

Contained within this notification email is the [Steam Beta Key] that will grant you access to the Beta. Make sure to register this Steam Beta Key, so that you’ll be ready to jump right into the action once the Beta begins.

■ How to register your Steam Beta Key 
1) Log in to the Shadow Arena Steam Community(registration required)
2) Visit the Steam client installation page
3) Install the Steam and log in
Click the [Games] tab in the upper-left corner > Select [Activate a Product on Steam] to register your Steam Beta Key 


* Enter the Steam Beta Key sent to the email address provided during tester registration. 
* The Shadow Arena client will be available to install sometime on February 26 (GMT+9). We will inform you once the client is installable.
* If you lose or forget your Steam Beta Key, please contact us via Support > Submit a Ticket on the official website for assistance.
* Please ensure you have at least 10 gb of free space available on your PC before installing the game client.

Become the sole survivor in the arena by hunting monsters and defeating other players.

There is no sin in killing and looting from your enemies.

The heroes that appear in Shadow Arena are shadow projects that Black Spirits calls forth.

Give it all you got and show that the hero you’ve chosen is the mightiest of them all!

When you first enter the arena, other players will be gathered at the shrine.

You can request to duel other players and practice using skills during this phase.


 
Once enough players have joined, a number at the center of the screen will begin counting down.

Once arena commences, you will transform into a Black Spirit for a short time, float towards the specific direction you’re facing and land at a random location.

You can move a bit farther in Black Spirit form, or you can press LMB to revert to your hero form and begin hunting for monsters.

 
■ Defeating Monsters
Once you’ve reverted to your hero form, you will need to acquire gear by defeating monsters.

You can obtain gear, skill books, consumables and buffs from monsters
and the faster you gain these, the greater your advantage over other players will be in the arena.

Upon defeating players, you will gain +500 DP for 5 sec, +20 AP/DP buffs for 5 min, and skill points, as well as one HP Potion.In addition, for 5 sec you will gain an effect that allows you to ignore all debuffs.

Do note that you are not able to take other players’ items yet, they will be revived without any major penalties.

 
■ Dark Fog
The Blackstar awakens and the ‘dark fog’ starts closing in after the first 4 minutes,
so open your map (Tab) to see where the fog is as well as your current location.



※ The Blackstar will always move towards the center of the circle, and you can also look up in the sky to find the location of the Blackstar as well.

In the dark fog, you will slowly start to lose HP and hungry Black Spirits will come after you.



Yet defeating monsters in the dark fog will restore a small portion of your HP,
and you will have a higher chance to obtain better items from boxes spawned there.

Also, Shadow Lords (bosses) and Sealed Relic Towers have a rare chance to spawn. Defeat them to gain powerful buffs.

Therefore, try to take advantage of the fog rather than simply running away from it.

And more thing, 25 minutes after the start of a match, the Fog will have greatly shrunk the size of the Safe Zone.

■ Blessed Area
In the middle of the Fog, a green blessed area that is half the size of the safe zone will appear with the awakening of the Blackstar after 4 minutes have passed. This area will increase HP recovery by double.

Therefore, try to take advantage of the fog rather than simply running away from it.

■ Defeating PlayersReviving after dying during this point is impossible, where players will drop all gear in their position and be eliminated.

You can press R to obtain the dropped gear of players you’ve defeated, yet be wary of other players who may attack while you loot.

■ Victory in the Arena
The number of players remaining in the match will be displayed in the top left corner.
You win the match by defeating all other players and becoming the last one standing.

 There are many other factors that can alter the course of battle beyond just utilizing better gear and/or strategy.
