We have just pushed a new update live for Resort Boss:Golf, which bring countless quality of life improvements and bug fixes.

Some content originally planned for this month has unfortunately had to be delayed to June, and we will get this content out (Challenge Scenarios, Driving Range and Putting Green) within the coming weeks - it needs just a tad more time and we appreciate the patience!

  • Added hole edit button to the hole panel.
  • Disabled editing play order/removing holes from the course attributes panel.
  • Course name and price no longer changeable if the course is used in a tournament until the tournament ends.
  • Holes part of a tournament will become uneditable until the tournament ends.

  • Fixed assorted issues related to player not being able to play in a tournament.
  • Increased the distance between player and ball when putting to minimize the chance of them standing on top of the ball.
  • Fixed issue where workers would go on a permanent break after finishing a task.
  • Fixed issue with a null reference not allowing players to remove a window.
  • Fixed issue where tired out workers would crash when seeking a not yet finished staff room for rest.
  • Balanced the maintenance costs of the hotels for better profitability.
  • Golf power bar will now no longer be ridiculously quick when playing golf in speed up mode.
  • Fixed a null reference issue that caused the tournament history to not open up properly.
  • Staff no longer enter staff room purgatory to recharge energy and stay there until the heat death of the universe.
  • Players are no longer able to accept requests that will instantly fail.
  • Fixed issue with the building deletion confirmation not appearing.
  • Added options to accept/delete/archive all inbox messages at once.
  • Staff inside the staff room can no longer be picked up and moved away.
  • Fixed issue with player golfer not moving on to the next hole in a tournament.
  • Loading a game with a tournament in progress will now properly load the tournament results.
  • Fixed an issue with a null reference when trying to enter the cart.
  • Accept all will only accept memberships if the player is under the cap. They will be ignored otherwise.
  • Builders will now stop work on a building if it is removed while being built.
  • Messaging tutorial will no longer autocomplete upon opening the panel.
  • Cart button will now properly hide during tutorials.
  • Players can no longer use the options to walk to/spawn cart while queueing for a hole.
  • NPC shadows will now be properly hidden when entering a building. Also fixed another issue with the picker still being available.
  • Fixed the text on the tournament end panel when the player wins the tournament.
  • Workers should now stop before building a building if said building is cancelled.
  • Carts no longer spontaneously explode if you enter a new cart after leaving a damaged cart.
  • Fixed the text on the ingame panel when selecting a cart. You're not buying that cart; you're entering it.

New Features

Golf Carts

Players can now build golf cart garages on their resort, which allows golfers to rent carts for their time on the course, giving you a new potential income avenue and allowing golfers to move through the course faster.

Players can also ride golf carts by right-clicking on the terrain to bring up the new context menu, which allows them to spawn golf carts and enter them (by right clicking on the golf cart).

There are 6 types of golf carts, each with varied handling setup and speed/acceleration attributes. Spawning a cart is free, but only allows you to run around the resort.



Tournaments

Players are now able to host and play tournaments! Tournaments will currently bring in extra revenue if you can make them appealing enough for golfers. They require a course to be setup, and are completely customizable. While the tournament is ongoing, regular golfers won't be able to play on that course. Players can also choose to partake in the tournament, and receive the cash prize and the trophy should they win.



Wildlife

A series of animals were added to the golf course! Buy ducks, turtles, alligators, and more and place them around your resort to beautify and add more interesting points for the golfers! More animals will be added as early access gets underway, as well as expansion of the systems.



New Golf Gameplay

The point and click golf gameplay has been augmented by power bars! Players will still use the old way of dragging the mouse to aim their shot, which will update a marker on the power bar giving players the location of where they should attempt to hit. Players will click once to get the power bar rolling, then click again to set the power, and click again to set the accuracy. There is also the possibility to add spin to your shots!

Golfer Emoticons

Golfers will now express their current feelings via emoticon popups after taking a shot or performing some action out on your resort. These will correlate to the feeling felt by the golfer when they have a thought.



Camera Freedom

Lowered the minimum rotation angle of the camera and increased the maximum zoom in distance so that players can get up and close to the action. Players are also now able to properly see the sky!

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed issue where messages would be regenerated when the listing was clicked.
  • Calendar and date picker now have a today button to bring you back to the correct time.
  • Fixed issue with date picker not closing
  • Fed ducks super food and now they are doubled in size.
  • Ducks will now loiter around properly.
  • Ducks no longer fly in the air like maniacs.
  • Fixed crash that was leading the save game box to not close properly.
  • Fixed autosave freeze when wildlife is available.
  • Fixed a crash when entering the golf cart.

  • Disabled right click menu until tutorial is over.

  • Added more information to the golf cart list to let the players know which carts are being rented.
  • Fixed issue when loading the character's clothings that would cause the AI to crash and stop responding.
  • Fixed an issue where the player would not be able to play the tournament they created

  • Golfers will now properly progress through the tournament.
  • Players no longer able to delete the tournament course before the tournament starts.

  • Fixed issue when saving an AI that had played golf and finished, causing the current hole to be null but still needed to be accessed.
  • Fix issue with the tournament not being cleared when loading a new game.
  • Fix issue where trying to sell a cart wouldn't open the panel.
  • Added text to identify the current state of a course in the course builder (In Tournament, Playable, No Holes).
  • Made the course that is a part of a tournament undeletable.
  • Made the holes that were part of a course that is part of a tournament un-changeable.
  • Tweaked the golfer AI to make them more likely to try to go for the hole in short par 3 holes.
  • Added a label to tell the player what kind of terrain they are on.
  • Balanced the cash generated by golf carts.
  • Added information on golf cart revenue to the shop.

We've released a new patch today, which fixes a bunch of issues ahead of our big April update coming later in the month. This upcoming update will feature tournaments, golf carts, wildlife and enhanced golf gameplay.



10th April - Alterations and Bug Fixes

  • Default building walls randomised.
  • Tee and hole will no longer disappear upon creating or editing a hole.
  • Fixed height tools getting stuck on hole builder.
  • Added a calendar panel to help players visualize upcoming visits and whatnot.
  • Fixed issue that led to courses being rated as hated most of the time.
  • Fixed the spawning of course-related thoughts.
  • Increased penalty for aiming at water to force the golfers to stop aiming at the water.
  • Fixed issue where the year would be displayed as YYYY as opposed to the actual year.
  • Panel now displays the correct information for the AI's state, as opposed to the localization string.
  • AI now takes better account of the wind when striking the ball.
  • Naturally occurring trees are now dependent on tileset.
  • Trees now also spawn inside the resort grounds.
  • Balanced the starting terrain tile types to match the tileset. (More sand on the desert; more snow on the winter etc)
  • Improved the hill generation algorithm.
  • Default starting resort will now also vary between tilesets and terrain types.
  • Modified the wind calculations to make it less likely it'll raise too high and stay high.
  • Loading a game after starting a new game will now appear with the correct tileset.
  • Heat map is now executed properly when run from the hole overview panel.
  • The font size of the tools explanation has been increased to improve legibility.
  • The rating up pop up no longer blocks the main menu.
  • Fixed an issue where golfers were stuck in a leaving the course state.

  • Fixed issue where players couldn't add a new building in certain cases.
  • Character model is now properly reset when starting a new game.
  • Closing the holes window will now also close the opened hole info panel.
  • Salary Budget amount now increases with resort rating.
  • Hole info panel now has the correct name after you delete a hole.
  • Golfers no longer freeze on certain instances when you remove a hole.
  • Buildings in the building list are now listed with their subtype where applicable.
  • Building name no longer overflows the text box if it's too long.
  • Removing all tiles of a building now properly updates the details/money of the building.
  • Placing a tile in front of a tile with a decoration now properly removes that decoration, and disables the approval if there's no other doors available.
  • Shareholders no longer request features that the user hasn't unlocked yet.
  • Fixed spacing issues in certain texts.
  • Grid lines no longer projected on trees and similar objects.
  • Removing a tile with a door now properly blocks the construction if there are no other doors available.
  • Unfinished Member's Lounge no longer increase the membership cap.
  • Unfinished buildings no longer count for resort rating.
  • Updated the logo to the current version.
  • Removed placeholder text from golfer panel.

I'm excited to announce that Resort Boss: Golf's March update is now live!

The March update sees the debut of a course builder, allowing you to freely link their holes together into a guided course for their resort’s golfers, a terrain generator, a character creator and a selection of new cosmetic options, diversifying your golf resorts.

There’s still plenty to come from Resort Boss: Golf’s Early Access period, with tournaments, wildlife, challenge scenarios and more already confirmed for release across April and May.



New Features

  • Expanded the hole panel, with more information and tools for evaluating the holes you have built.
  • Added two new tools for hole building: (these tools are accessible both from the hole info panel and from the hole builder)
  • Shot Analyzer: Allows you to place the ball on any spot near a hole, and see what are the options that the AI is more likely to choose.
  • Heatmap: For holes with play history, shows you the most commong landing spots for shots.
  • Added the Course Builder, which allows you to create and customize the courses in your resort. It allows you to:
  • Choose the holes that belong to a course
  • Name and price the course
  • View the history of play on the course, complete with shot visualizers
  • View overall information regarding the golfers' opinion on the course
  • Added three new tilesets that the players can choose when creating their resort:
  • Sandy Desert: A desert themed landscape
  • Winter Wonderland: A winter/snowy themed landscape
  • Deadwood: A horror-ish themed landscape
  • Added two new terrain options for creating the resort:
  • Rolling Hills: Creates a terrain that features smooth variations in height, creating long hills
  • Thousand Lakes: Creates a terrain with several little lakes spread around the map
  • Added the Golfer Creator. Players are now able to create and customize not only their own Resort Boss, but also golfers and VIPs that can appear during general gameplay.
  • Added an option to select the boss that will own the resort that the player is creating.
  • Added support for Portuguese language.

Fixes

  • Path no longer overlaps with the tee box.
  • Building editor will now choose a random wall type everytime you start a new building.
  • Adjusted the wind function to have less insane changes.
  • Removed the limit of 18 holes for the resort.
  • Replaced the game logo with higher resolution one on the loading screen.
  • Wind arrow should now point to the correct direction.
  • Tiles with trees are no longer marked as OB, but will have large penalties for the AI calculations.
  • Landscapers will now try to find the orders that are closer to them first.
  • Planting trees in the Winter tileset has a chance to spawn them with snow.
  • Taking a loan will no longer also include the interest in the loaned amount.
  • Buildings will now no longer generate income while still in the planning stage.

We have now launched a massive Resort Boss: Golf update, which focuses on making the game more dynamic. The game now features weather, including the rain effects seen in the screenshot above. Also introduced is a day/night cycle, alongside wind and the ability to place down bridges.





Full Patch Notes - Update Releasing 13 March

New Features
  • Varied weather patterns that will bring more style and effect to your golf courses. Rainy days will reduce attendance; Sunny days will give golfers a happiness boost.
  • Day night cycle to vary the look of the course. They function at a different pace to the game speed, and serve currently as cosmetic enhancement to the game.
  • Wind has been added, uniformly with a marker next to the message button showing you the direction (which also rotates together with the camera to give you the correct reading). Some golfers are better at reading the wind than others.

Yesterday, we announced a roadmap for Resort Boss: Golf's Early Access updates for March - May.

The content listed in the roadmap for March, including new languages, a course builder, and a character editor will release before the month is out. But before then, we have one more exciting surprise announcement.

On Wednesday 13 March, we're launching a content update featuring weather, a day and night cycle and bridges, alongside a plethora of fixes.

Take a read of the new content being released for Resort Boss: Golf before this month is out:

New Languages: French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Russian & Portuguese

Course Builder: Complete freedom in determining which holes belong to which course, allowing you to have multiple courses of any size inside your resort! (Removes the 18 hole limitation, allowing you to create any number of holes and assign up to 18 of them to any course)

Terrain Generator: Sandbox maker will be upgraded with a terrain generator that adds more variety to the resort.

New Tile Styles: Varied tile palettes that represent different biomes and areas of the world, making each of your resorts look different from the others.

Character Editor: Create your own golfer avatar, set the attributes, and use them in your resorts. Create AI players as well to expand the possible roster of NPCs on your course.

Hello all,

Welcome to Resort Boss: Golf's first ever Early Access update! This update focuses on improvements and bug fixing, with key progress made in a lot of the areas we've been receiving crucial feedback on.

Tutorial progress-halting bugs have now been fixed, UI improvements have been implemented, AI is now smarter, and you'll now receive fewer facility requests and hole reviews (feedback emails).

We are excited to launch our first Early Access update, and we can't wait to shape Resort Boss: Golf further, with your help!

Full Patch Notes

Improvements and Additions

• Increased resort name character limit to 30 characters
• Players are now refunded 40% of a building's cost when removing them.
• When paused, the Time display will change to a bigger "PAUSE" text.
• Increased the bounce factor of the hole pole, to make hole in ones less easy.
• Removed the drag in dragging the windows, so they become more responsive.
• Split the terrain buttons into their different versions
• Changed the + signal to actual word/context stuff (on the hole/building panel; New Hole instead of +, New Building instead of +)
• Reduced speed of the paint tool, as it is too fast (ideally one click would make it go up 1) (added a delay between ticks for increasing the height. Also made it change the height on the first click, so that the user can now click and increase in steps)
• Implemented a better queuing system to prevent the AI from jockeying for positions
• Increased the WASD navigation speed over the regular mouse drag
• Added autosave and the ability to set the length of time between saves
• Added the water as a hazard for the hole. It will not be part of the play tiles, but it is taken into consideration by the hole attributes
• Added a drop down to filter the message types on the messages panel
• Added button to allow picking up the NPCs and dropping them elsewhere (in valid areas)
• Tree markers replaced with hologram trees for better visibility
• Increased ball size for better visibility
• Extended the time length of the ball's flight line
• Increased size of the bulldozer and snap buttons for easier usage/visibility
• Tiles with only one tree will not automatically be considered out of bounds
• Added an option to toggle the shooting debugger on and off (by pressing Z), as it's an useful feature at this point in time
• Added a display for the golfer's ball when the player selects a golfer currently playing the hole
• Added a bulldozer for the building accessories



Fixes

• Tee now rotates properly when loading a hole
• Golfers will now sink slightly when walking on the water or on the pool
• Golfers will now have proper happiness boosts based on their performance related to their expectations, calculated at the start of the hole based on their attributes
• Balanced the weights on the golfer brain script to ensure they stop hitting trees like absolute madmen
• Water and decorations are now being properly taken into account for both the Risk and the Difficulty calculations.
• Tweaked the happiness bonus from good shots to make the golfers less happy at the end of a hole
• Added a check to ensure no duplicate types of requests and visits will exist either in the inbox or currently active (ie: No multiple presidents visiting at the same time, no multiple requests for a hotel)
• Confirm delete save game window no longer appears behind the menu
• Fixed issue where the navmesh graph wouldn't update properly, causing bad navigation
• Added a placeholder image for the save games to prevent issues with the game taking too long to generate a screenshot causing a null reference
• Game will now check for tutorial completion when opening the main menu from the in game menu after completing the tutorial
• Decoration bulldozer now properly removes planned trees
• Save menu now has an option to deleted a selected save
• UI is now properly disabled when taking a screenshot for the save file
• Paths will no longer be placeable on green and fairway tiles, and are no longer considered OB.
• Fixed issue where opening the messages panel while having the terrain tool open would cause the main toolbar to disappear forever
• Lob Wedge now has proper distance compared to Sand Wedge
• Adjusted the tone of the golfer's feedback to match their result on the hole, as opposed to their happiness. Reduced some of the salt on their comments.
• Fixed issue where the terrain height tool would not update the planned terrain tiles.
• Fixed issue with VIPs usually hating the course, as they had a low happiness to begin with it was negatively influencing their experience.
• Fixed an issue with a race condition that caused the ballStopped bool to be reset to false shortly after being set true, causing the golfer to wait forever
• Tutorial for the playing of golf now acts as expected, and all clubs are unlocked if the player achieves a hole in one
• Retiring from a hole no longer stops players from playing golf
• Fixed the system to make the AI stop trying to reach its path when it reaches the destination. Should prevent AI from dancing around each other.
• Escape now only opens the ingame menu
• Fixed issue where a message could go corrupt causing the messaging center to no longer open
• Fixed issue with financial data from previous save being loaded, and fixed issue with monthly data disappearing
• Hotel rating, and restaurant/pro shop types are now properly saved.
• Fixed crash issue when the terrain tried to access a chunk that did not exist (out of bounds).
• Fixed issue with loading saves not actually loading saves; it would choose the correct file but not perform the loading operation, resulting in always loading the existing resort. No data was lost.
• Fixed issue with the animation of the golfers not playing at the correct speed.
• Water was being cleared as if the hole was being cancelled. It is now properly placed.
• Golfers were treating distance travelled as always a positive, even if they were traveling away from the hole, causing them to sometimes go back to the fairway when very near the hole. This was fixed and the weights were further rebalanced.
• Fixed incompatibility issue between the avoidance controller and the character controller, which resulted in bad avoidance calculations. Golfers should now avoid each other properly.
• Cancelling construction no longer gives the player money.
• Feedback was using the old method of getting the course par, which returned 0. It now uses the correct method.
• The data wasn't being saved properly as the data structure kept being overwritten every time a new building type was added. This has been fixed.
• Tutorial resetting now works as expected.
• Fixed expectation calculations for golfers on the hole, which was leading to lower happiness
• Fixed issue with golfers putting their balls into oblivion when there is a slope
• Fixed clubs not being available after completing the hole tutorial with hole in one
• Fixed issue with dragging height inside the hole causing the dragging height to stop working
• Fixed issue with the character panel sometimes showing the wrong information
• Fixed issue with the building hooks return null on some cases
• Fixed a crash on VIPs that wouldn't be able to progress to the next hole causing them to get stuck waiting for the ball forever
• Fixes an issue with unhappiness of golfers never being enough for membership thanks to a modifier whenever they hit inside the play area
• Fixes an issue with queuing up for rounds that caused golfers to think all holes were busy
