Dysterra - GM_Arphaxad
Hi Survivors.

The 4th Beta Test of Dysterra will start on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022!
This test will be conducted for a total of 1 week through the "Dysterra Playtest" App.

📌4th Beta Test schedule
- Tuesday, August 30th, 2022 ~ Monday, September 5th, 2022
※ The detailed time will be announced through a separate notice
※ During the test period, the game server will be operated 24 hours a day.

📌How to Join the Test
1. Visit the Dysterra Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1527890/Dysterra/
2. Join the Dysterra Playtest > click Dysterra Request Access
(Even if you participated in the previous beta tests, you must reapply to participate in the 4th Beta Test)
3. After applying for Dysterra Playtest, you can check the email sent from Steam when the 4th Beta Test starts,
or you can check the status of your application through the 'request access' button on the store page.
4. When the requested access for our Playtest is granted, you will be able to find the "Dysterra Playtest" App on your steam library.

When the test begins, select "Dysterra Playtest" in the library tab, install the game and run it.
Make sure you play through the "Dysterra Playtest" App instead of the "Dysterra", "Dysterra Demo" App.

We ask for your interest since the contents to be updated on the 4th Beta Test will be released through the weekly Dev notes.

Currently, Dysterra is in service of Steam Survival Fest Service.

Many minor updates including :
- The possibility to turn on/off the lightning effect in the options
- Possibility to adjust the brightness depending on your monitor setting in adv. options.
- Added different block chances on the melee weapons (Right Click)
- The knife has the least block chance but raised the offensive dmg

These are the changes made for the current version 0.0.2.0

New concept: Mines
Underground mining

Several entrances for different mines now appear scattered around the world,
mines are small instanced areas with rocks and minerals; they are the best way to gather these kind of materials.
Mines have different rarities and their size, amount of floors and the materials that can be found inside scale with it.
From now on, the only place to find Silver and Gold are mines, these will no longer spawn in the overworld.
Rocks found inside a mine respawn once an in-game day, their types do not change; if a mine didn't have Gold before, it won't ever.

Guide and Builder NPCs
First functional NPCs

The Guide and Builder NPCs are the first functional NPCs introduced to the game,
the Guide will quickly visit the vale with a high chance after the first in-game day,
the Builder will visit once a couple of requirements have been met.

The Guide will give you access to a lot of information about the game's different systems and mechanics,
and once some conditions have been met she'll also let you see every possible crafting recipe that a specific material can have.

The Builder gives you access to the Blueprint Designer; which is the only way to create houses,
houses can have different interior and exterior designs, you'll unlock different materials and shapes for both as you progress with the game.

All NPCs need a house to permanently move into the vale, while they don't they'll leave the vale at the end of the in-game day.
The only exception to this rule is the Guide NPC, which never leaves.
Bare in mind that even if an NPC leaves, it will visit again in the future.

Houses
Home sweet home

With the introduction of the Builder NPCs houses are not fully functional,
you can design different interiors and exteriors through the Blueprint Designer.
A new home won't have an owner by default, you'll have to go inside and set it's owner,
this is not mandatory and can be done whenever you want, but once an owner has been set, it can't be changed.
An NPC can only have a single Home, but the player can have multiple.
After setting your own house and those of the NPCs that visit, you should leave new houses available,
as some NPCs will only visit if there's an available house; avoid setting yourself as owner unless you want to prevent NPCs from visiting.

Crops
Time to start harvesting

By building your first house you'll get access to your first seed packets,
this can now be properly planted and harvested. The only available crop so far is wheat.
More functionality for it will be added in the next update.

UI/UX
Quality of Life improvements

Some important changes have been made to interface and user experience.
A new slot to delete items has been added to the inventory.
UI can now be scaled down from the settings window.
Item tooltips are not bound to the edges of the screen.
Crafting window has been redesign; recipes are not selected and then crafted by the use of a button,
there's a button to craft 10 items at a time too. (If you have enough materials for more than 1 item, but less than 10; it will craft the maximum possible amount).
A new zoom value has been added, there's now 3 levels of zoom.

Save Changes
Everything working now

All settings are now saved and loaded properly.
Worlds are now saved independently, this is in preparation for a later update in which players will have access to different maps,
all of which will be saved separately.
Because of this and the changes made to mineral/mine spawns, you'll have to create a new world to play.

Items
A couple of extras

A couple of items have been added to the game:
- Hardened Stone: Stone equivalent to Polished Wood. It's used in the creation of blueprints.
- Wooden Floor: A type of outdoor floor, can be used to create roads.
- Stone Floor: Stone version of the Wooden Floor.
Both Floors/Roads make the character walk a little bit faster.

Dab on Darkness! - Checkmaid
Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well, the Japanese version of Dab On Darkness is here! If your steam language is set to Japanese, it should automatically be downloaded, if not, then right click the game in your steam library, go to properties, and select Japanese from the languages tab! You may need to restart steam to see the option.

Solace Crafting - Malkere
Thank you to everyone that has joined us over the past 24 hours!

I'm a little swamped with e-mails, some obvious scams, friend requests, etc. I'm hoping to focus on improving multi-lingual support to open up access to the non-English world, as well as get a threaded save test up to beta later today.

This small patch is actually what I did with some free time yesterday. Up until now I've often patched in a days work and then gone to bed, but once in a while I'll mess something up and then be asleep for 8 hours and not notice people telling me I messed up! So I'm going to start patching in the morning instead. I also usually will post the majority of changes to the beta branch first to be safe, but these are small enough changes that they shouldn't affect anything serious.

Almost all changes/fixes are brought on by player feedback. If something is not working as intended please let me know and I will fix it!

- Fixed an incorrect instance of the I key being bound to open inventory

- Fixed the quest helper starting up every session even if you turned it off last session

  • [Dungeons & Diagrams] Added "The Shadow Caverns", a new "replayable puzzle" with ~12,000 variations generated by a certain Discord user on the unofficial Zachtronics Discord server. The puzzle is unlocked in the final row of the puzzle selection grid.
  • [Sawayama Solitaire] Fixed a bug where a card you needed would sometimes be automatically moved to the foundation.
  • [X’BPGH: The Forbidden Path] Fixed a visual bug where some fusion previews weren't shown in the rules panel.

RPG in a Box - Ol' Smaug


Hi everyone! The Indiegogo campaign is now at 42% funded with only a week remaining. Thank you so much to the 84 wonderful backers who have helped get it to this point. Every little bit helps! Even if you don't feel like $5 would make a difference, know that it does! It's understandable that not everyone can afford to contribute to the campaign monetarily, but if everyone who is able to does contribute it will add up very quickly. I know we can make this happen together with everyone's help!

If you know anyone with a large reach or following (content creators, influencers, other indie developers, etc.) who may be willing to check out RPG in a Box and share about the Indiegogo campaign (or RPG in a Box in general) to others, please either reach out to them or let me know and I'll contact them directly.
