S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster - Assemble | Takuya.inc
Dear people of S.W.I.N.E,

We can finally and proudly announce the 1.4 Patch including the long wish for a Map Editor! Be aware, that is just a BETA for now
You can now create your own maps to fight against your friends and even import old maps into the HD Version!

What's it good for?
  • It is a level editor tool that enables the community to create their own levels
  • It is the right tool to import old fan-made maps into the HD Remaster version
  • The current scope is limited to only creating multiplayer levels

Where is it?
After your game is updated to version v1.4.1731, you can find the editor executable (editor.exe) in the game install folder, right next to swine.exe. The easiest way to locate it is this:
  • Right click on S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster in your game library Click "Properties"
  • Click "Properties"
  • Choose the "Local files" tab
  • Click on the "Browse local files..." button

How can I create a multiplayer level?
  • After you launch the editor, you have two options to start:
    • Start from scratch -> Choose "File/New", or click the "New" button
    • Create a modified version of an existing multiplayer map -> Choose "File/Open...", or click the "Open" button, browse a built-in multiplayer map from your game install folder (gamedata/base/multimaps/)
  • You can experiment with the various editing tools on the toolbar, like editing terrain, placing props, setting up lighting etc.
  • Once ready, save your map to the following location: c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Kite Games\Swine\multimaps\
  • The "AppData" folder is hidden, you may need to modify your file browser settings to see it

How can I play with my custom level?
  • All custom levels saved to the location above will appear in the map list when you host a multiplayer game
  • The levels will be automatically downloaded to all other players in the match when the settings are locked
  • Once every download is complete, click "Ready", and start the match as you normally would

Can I import the old custom levels created for the original S.W.I.N.E.?
  • Yes, the editor is compatible with the old map format. Apart from some exoticly modded levels, if you open an old custom level and save it with the new editor, it should work with S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster

Known issues
  • While the editor itself is localized in english, the name of the props, units, decals, etc. are now currently only in hungarian
  • River creation and editing is currently not possible
  • "No texture" and "Sketch" view modes are not working correctly
  • "Test in game" feature is a bit bumpy due to Steam DRM and the editor trying to launch swine.exe with a command line parameter. Once you click the "!Test in game!" button, you need to wait a few seconds for Steam to give you a message saying "SWINE HD Remaster is attempting to launch with the optional parameters shown below..." If you click "OK", you can proceed with testing your level in-game

We also managed to improve some issues with the network

  • Improvements to network connectivity between remaining players when players are leaving the match
  • Disabled load game and save game hotkeys (F2, F3) in multiplayer

  • Editor beta is here! See the following thread for details: Link

A new patch just launched and fixed several issues!

  • Added automatic latency adjusting feature instead of relying on players doing it manually via F5/F6 keys
  • Added a more robust packet relaying system for minimizing ping times between players
  • Fixed an issue which caused an error "ConnectionManager::CreatePeer: Cannot found any usable port" when connecting to matches without open slots multiple times
  • Fixed match list, players list, army list and chat panel always jumping on top when updated
  • Fixed an occasional crash when host cancels the game in the multiplayer lobby
  • Fixed a rare inconsistency error related to mine layer units

  • Fixed an exploit with service trailers that allowed extremely fast repairing by spamming the repair command
  • Fixed an issue which prevented moving fortresses to shoot while in retreat mode
  • Fixed an issue which caused trailers to appear in wrong color while being transported by pig helicopter
  • Fixed an issue which prevented the game receiving mouse wheel inputs on secondary monitors
  • Fixed an issue that caused a crash after locking Windows when the game was minimized

Patch notes 05/24/19 - Hotfix and improvements

Hey there S.W.I.N.E warriors!

We are aware of certain issues regarding heavy lagging and network connectivity. We are working on patches to fix these ASAP.
So far the following things have been tackled and seem to be fixed:

Fix for the matchmaking server:

  • Matchmaking server update has been deployed to fix empty multiplayer lobby issue.

1.1 patch for the lagging issue

  • Patch v1.1.1622 has been released to address the severe lagging issue when not all the players could connect with every other player. Please note that the patch solves a number of cases, but there are still cases when the lagging will remain

Workaround for the lagging issue

  • By adjusting your latency through the F5 and F6 keys, you can minimize the stuttering you encounter while playing.
  • Adjust the latency just above the level the game runs smoothly, since to high latency levels will increase the input lag tremendous.
  • Keep in mind that this is just a workaround and will be fixed soon.

Thank you for all the good feedback!
Your team from "Kite Games"

S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster

S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster, an update of the 2001 RTS about armored warfare between rabbits and pigs that was announced last month, will be out on May 23. Developer Assemble Entertainment revealed the release date and dropped a new gameplay trailer today to mark the 58th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs invasion

S.W.I.N.E—Strategic Warfare In a Nifty Environment, and which I will be calling "Swine" from here on—begins with the National Army of the Pigs invading Carrotland, an onslaught that overwhelms the rabbit defenses. With a frontal assault impossible, the rabbits resort to gorilla—that is, guerrilla—tactics to knock out the pig supply lines and recapture lost objectives.

The idea was cute but the execution was dodgy: It holds a "mixed or average" score of 65 on Metacritic. The HD remaster of Swine promises to address those shortcomings: Along with updated graphics and "extended" settings for things like antialiasing and v-sync, it will also feature "bug fixes, extended zoom, improved unit ordering, and plenty of other updates." Multiplayer functionality, which the original release lost when Gamespy shut down, will also be restored.

Swine HD Remaster will be available on Steam on May 23. Pricing hasn't been set but you can find more information at swinethegame.com
