The game deserves a great line up of artists and, for that, we need YOUR HELP. Click the link: below to read more about our plans and to look at the brilliant rewards we're offering for backers.

Key developers from the DJ Hero, Chime and Geometry Wars franchises have formed Echo Peak, a new supergroup studio which will create games in partnership with music industry talent.

Echo Peak's first title will be a collaboration with "a major global music star" and is in development now.

The studio will focus on both consoles and "emerging digital platforms". Likely iOS and Android, then.

Echo Peak is founded by Chime director Ciaran Walsh and creative director Ste Curran, in partnership with ex-Zoe Mode boss Ed Daly.

Workers from EA and Freestyle Games, Activision's former DJ Hero developer, are also on board.

They're joined by ex-doublesix staff, the team that formed after creating Geometry Wars: Galaxies.

"We are passionate about working with talent outside our industry in ways that are smarter, more interesting and more audience-focused than just plugging songs into well-worn templates", Walsh said.

"Our experience in music games led us to this point, and music seems a natural place to start - bringing these two worlds closer makes so much sense - which is why we're working with leading artists and labels to develop a number of concepts."

Steam has launched a treasure hunt game that asks players to complete game-related objectives to be in with a chance of winning 100 games. There are also a few Team Fortress 2 hats up for grabs. Details follow.

Every day Steam will throw up a new set of objectives. These tasks can be anything from setting up a Steam avatar to in-game tasks based on Steam achievements. Every two days, 20 people who have completed one objective will win the top 5 games on their wishlist. Each objective completed acts as another entry into the draw, so completing all four daily objectives will improve your chances.

From the look of today's tasks it seems that the games involved in each objective will be offered at a cheaper price. Today Ruse, Poker Night at the Inventory and Chime are all on sale.

If you complete 10 objectives over the next few weeks you'll be entered into a grand prize draw on December 20th. If you win that you'll win 100 games of your choosing.

As for the TF2 hats, there are three on offer, and each can be unlocked by completing a certain number of objectives.

5 objectives - Bounty Hat
10 objectives - Treasure Hat
28 objectives - Hat of Undeniable Wealth and Respect

For more information about the give-away and a list of the current objectives, check out the Steam Treasure Hunt page. If you decide to go for ten objectives and a shot at the 100 game prize, it's worth noting that you have to make sure you log into Steam on December 20th to be eligible. Will you be playing? How many objectives will you plump for?

Steam Plays A Game That Could Win You 100 GamesValve is giving Steam users a new way to win video games—up to a hundred of them!—and even score some new headwear in Team Fortress 2. The "Great Steam Treasure Hunt" is a game for winning games.

From December 6 to 19, Steam users are tasked with completing online and in-game objectives, like setting up a Steam avatar and unlocking The Heavy's Iron Curtain in Poker Night at the Inventory, which can lead to winning free games. Prizes will be handed out bi-daily to lucky winners and at the end of the whole affair, Valve will hand out 100 games to three lucky Steam users.

There are also deals to be had, like cheaper copies of R.U.S.E. and even cheaper copies of Chime. Begin the hunt!

The Great Steam Treasure Hunt [Steam]

Announcement - Valve
Now through December 20th, the Great Steam Treasure Hunt will have folks spending time in the tropical sun, earning Steam Achievements in select games, joining Community groups, and earning a slot atop the Steam Leaderboards all in the name of winning free games. Every 48 hours a new set of four tasks will be announced. Select games will also be on sale throughout The Great Steam Treasure Hunt.

Completing a objective qualifies you for a drawing to win the top 5 games on your Wishlist. Each objective has its own drawing, so the more you complete, the better your chances. At the end of the Great Steam Treasure Hunt, there will also be three grand prize winners, each awarded 100 individual Steam games of their choosing. Importantly, our lawyers tell us at this point to say, "No purchase necessary" and to check out the official rules here:

The first objectives are:
  • Self Portrait: Setup an avatar on your Steam Community profile.
  • Got Tanked?: Earn the Desert Fox Steam Achievement in R.U.S.E.
  • Up the Ante: Win The Iron Curtain in Poker Night at the Inventory
  • More Cowbell: Set a leaderbord score of at least 1,124,400 in easy mode for the 'Paul Hartnoll' level in Chime

  • The promotions over the next 48 hours are:
  • 33% off R.U.S.E.
  • 40% off Poker Night at the Inventory
  • 75% off Chime

  • Good luck!
