Half-Life - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

A calamitous crossing of worlds has occurred in Two Point Hospital, the spiritual successor to Bullfrog’s Theme Hospital, with Half-Life headcrabs glomping onto heads and all manner of decorative doodads from Sega PC games scattering around hospitals. If you’ve not yet played the wacky hospital management sim, hey, you’re invited to try the whole thing for free this weekend on Steam. The trial weekend has just started, so hop to it. Well, don’t hop if you’re suffering from Hurty Leg, Premature Mummification, Night Fever, Lazy Bones, or Mucky Feet, in which case the doctor will see you now.

And as you can see, there's one more utterly disturbing addition to honour our friends at Valve. Good luck curing that!

To celebrate this momentously momentous occasion, we will be live streaming ALL DAY tomorrow, handing over to our pals from the above listed SEGA studios to see how their skills as Hospital Administrators fair. We can't wait. Here's our schedule for the day:

And if that wasn't exciting enough, our second DLC - Pebberley Island - will launch on Monday! Phew - what a week! We're glad to have you along for the ride, Scrubs!

Two Point Hospital

Two Point Hospital, normally a bastion of cleanliness, has unfortunately become infested with Half-Life headcrabs. They're not the only things sneaking in from other games, either. Total War: Three Kingdoms, the Endless series and Football Manager 19 have all inspired objects that you can now plonk down inside your hospital.

You can spruce up your rooms with football pitch rugs, arcade cabinets and some lovely new wall art. The headcrab, meanwhile, latches onto its victims, engulfing their heads. Thankfully, they can be yanked off by trained professionals, leaving the patient free from their nightmarish skull prison.

Even if you don't own Two Point Hospital, you can still check out the new illness and guest items for yourself, as it's hosting a free weekend on Steam. It will run until 5 pm GMT on Monday. If you fancy keeping it after the weekend, it's be 33 percent off. Other Sega games are on sale, too, discounted by up to 90 percent.

The new Pebberley Island DLC launches on Monday, as well, tasking hospital administrators with building in a hostile jungle and helping an eccentric explorer discover a spring of immortality.

Two Point Hospital

Valve has let loose Half-Life 2's headcrab within Two Point Hospital.

Sega's Theme Hospital successor will host the parasite from this weekend, when the whole game will be free to try until 5pm UK time on Monday, 18th March, which is also when second expansion Pebberley Island also arrives.

Purchase the game during this time and you'll get 33 per cent off.

Two Point Hospital

Wonderful hospital management sim Two Point Hospital is getting a new tropical-themed DLC expansion, Pebberley Island, on March 18th.

It's developer Two Point Studios' second DLC offering for the game, following on from the snowy, seasonally appropriate Bigfoot expansion, which released last December. "Blaze a sterilised trail through a tropical island for an eccentric millionaire in search of a fabled source of death-defying water," says the developer of DLC number two.

It brings three new scenarios - equating to three new hospitals - starting with the extreme weather of "idyllic atoll paradise" Pebberley Reef. Next up is the "dense, unexplored country" and sentient flora of Overgrowth, and finally, Topless Mountain - featuring a "horde mode" with waves of sick tourists "that'll keep you on your toes right to the last moment."

Two Point Hospital

Two Point Hospital's new DLC sees you committing medical malpractice on the tropical paradise of Pebberley Island, home of many weird diseases—including one that turns its victim into colourful birds—and opportunities to make a quick buck. It also hides a spring of immortality, and you'll need to sterelise a path to it for Wiggy Silverbottom, a courageous explorer whose only weakness is germs.

Pebberley Island looks like a perfect spot for a holiday, what with its lovely beaches, interesting ruins and the promise of immortality. Unfortunately, there are also 34 new illnesses to fight, dangerous weather and an overgrown jungle that's apparently sentient. It might not take too kindly to you plonking a hospital down in the middle of it.

I'm not sure if immortality is really a good thing if you depend on cash from sick people. Eternal life means you get your patients for a lot longer, but if they don't need to worry about dying, do they really need doctors and nurses? Maybe we'll get a chance to destroy the spring. Despite being all about private healthcare, Two Point Hospital isn't normally very cutthroat, but what happens on the island stays on the island.

Pebberley Island is due out on March 18.

Bon Voyage, Scrubs! It's time to dig out your travelling trunk, pack up your stethoscope, neatly fold away your doctors coat and slap on some sunscreen, because we're headed to Pebberley Island!

It's been a little while since our last DLC, Bigfoot, hit the ground running with its enormous hairy feet, so we thought it was about time we visited a part of Two Point County that's a little less polar - because who doesn't enjoy a holiday to warmer climes?! Plus, we've been looking for an excuse to couple Bermuda shorts with our serious Doctor's attire for AGES now.

There's a rumour that the secret to eternal life exists somewhere on the Island. I just hope that the death-defying water doesn't taste like something that's been sitting stagnant for ages… because I drank some really old water once and it made me gag….

Aaaaanyways, in Two Point Hospital: Pebberley Island you'll be joining intrepid explorer Wiggy Silverbottom in an exciting new adventure through the tropics. I don't want to say Wiggy's eccentric, but he is a real stickler for cleanliness, so you better make sure your Janitors work their socks and sandals off to banish the germs from your General Diagnostic rooms and everywhere else, frankly. You'll be faced with some utterly overgrown landscape and some brand new illnesses.

Let's have a look at what you can expect:

Pebberley Reef:

This Hospital site sits on the majestic coastline, waves lap the shore nearby and the forest exists just out of reach, but probably close enough to attract insects. You’ll arrive to discover you can only hire janitors with absolutely no experience whatsoever so err… good luck with that. Oh - and watch out for the totally unpredictable weather. Pebberley Reef is somewhat of a microcosm, might be worth getting a pair of those rubber souled shoes to make sure you're grounded at all times.

Overgrowth:

I don't want to go as far as to say the plants are watching you and paying attention to how you run your hospital… but they kind of are. In fact they're not only watching, but they're also judging you. Please the trees to gain ground in the jungle and expand your hospital. Guys… I think they're listening, quick - act Philanthrop-y… *ahem* I, for one, welcome Overgrowth Overlords.

Topless Mountain:

Having visited the Pointy Mountains in the snowy North of Two Point County, you'll likely be shocked at just how flat a mountain can be. I mean really, these elevations are flat enough to build Hospitals on! Build up some cash and kudosh and tropic like it's hot - which it will be - to build some altitudinous healthcare constructions and assist the most sickly traveller.

Wiggy will busy himself with excavating the surrounding area, which is likely to attract hordes of sight seers. Literal hordes. Prepare for waves of sickly tourists as things get pretty crazy. As long as you keep palm and carry on you'll be just fiiiine.

In addition to these new locations, you'll enjoy a plethora of new illnesses, including:

Blank Look
- The sufferers facial features have receded out of existence and must be coaxed back with subtle, hydraulic machinery. NOT REALLY! Watch aghast as sufferers faces are quite literally stamped back on to their heads. Harrowing.

Wanderust - Prolonged feelings of sameness have led to dull, tedious pain and a craving for adventure. The sufferers tendency to search for relief in highly precarious, unimaginative activities mean that they pose a great risk to themselves and others… and you, Dear Administrator, can be the one to put all of this right.

Screwball - Recurrent bafflement has caused a build-up of extremely dense negative feelings. The heavy head must be removed and replaced by a lighter, happier head before it's too late.

I'm off for a Margarita. Adios, Beaches!
