It’s been a while but here we are with a ton of new stuff - new and totally free content, new languages and fixes. Let’s get to it!

The biggest addition this time is more game. “Roboto Factory” is a free DLC that lets you get inside the famous Roboto Factory, where all the bots you've met on Speculo were created. You will discover its workings and see your old mechanical companions in a new light.

We’ve also added the support for both simplified and traditional Chinese - now not only you can enjoy the game with Chinese subtitles but also with Chinese text within the game world!

Additionally we’ve implemented some new fixes:
  • We’ve moved onto a newer version of the Unreal Engine. Thanks to that we’ve been able to further optimize the game and improve its performance in some locations;
  • With the new renderer the depth of field has been improved;
  • Buggy handles better and has improved physics;
  • Fixed the achievement “Get 6600 units of graphene” - now it should unlock properly;
  • Fixed the occasional issue with incorrect display of subtitles;
  • Added the option to turn off the vibration on gamepads;
  • The puzzle with guiding a robot at the beginning of the base game has been improved to deliver maximum satisfaction;
  • Added the option to reset your save files, so you can restart the level you’re currently in. In the main menu just press LCTRL+LSHIFT+F5 and listen for a sound indicating that the reset is done.

Hello everyone!
We know it's been a while since the last patch. The devs from Carbon Studio are working on another big one containing fixes, more gameplay, and additional localization. This is still TBA however, although it should come out soon - we'll roll it out as soon as it's ready.

For now we have something somewhat unexpected for you - support for Linux.



In short, if you have a machine running Steam OS, you can enjoy ALICE.

We know that this is not what many of you are waiting for, but it's a start of a new roll-out of content.

Phew, it took longer than we thought but we’re finally here!
Another patch comes, as promised, and it should fix many of the issues you guys were having recently. We’re vigilant and we’re looking into all of the problems you’re reporting. We know that at the end of the day you just want to play a cool game without any hassle, so we’re truly thankful for all of your feedback. Thank you!


Ok, now enough of this jibba jabba and let’s get to what’s new:
  • Added a teleport system to the game. It’s entirely optional and you can find it, unsurprisingly, in the options menu. It’s the point-to-click sort where you freely choose the location you want to go (instead of moving to a predetermined zone). It works with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive;
  • Fixed the OSVR support for the newest HMD, just choose one of the HDK2 compatibility modes while starting the application. There’s one caveat though - HMD scaling (supersampling) is currently unavailable on OSVR;
  • Broader support for unsupported devices. Now the game launcher will be giving you six choices instead of the usual three. If you happen to have an HMD that is not of the Oculus-Vive-OSVR variety, you can now choose one of the new compatibility modes and (fingers crossed) everything will be working. No guarantees but we believe in many cases that should do the trick;
  • Fixed the issues with game saves. We’ve tested it extensively to find the cause of the problem and the saves you’ve provided were of huge help to us. Now both saving and loading works as intended;
  • Changed the locations of several checkpoints, so no Alice will be trapped in a no-win scenario ever again;
  • Snap turning on HTC Vive will no longer cause you to move backwards, so now everyone can follow Pop’s mantra: “Never backwards, always forward”;
  • Fixed all discovered causes of players getting out of bounds, because in the game of croquet everyone needs to stay in the play area;
  • Now on HTC Vive you can use both motion controllers and a gamepad, so even if your HTC Vive is the off-brand type, you can still play Alice VR;
  • The camera position on HTC Vive has been brought in line with its position on Oculus Rift. Yeah, it’s a weird thing to mention in patch notes, I know;
  • Fixed achievements (On Foot, Grown a Conscience, Greedy, Carbon Footprint, Mommy?). Now the system works faster, is shinier, and in case it bugged out on you the first time, you’ll be able to get the missing achievements on your second go-round;
  • Fixed collision issues, especially on ramps. Ramps are tricky;
  • Enhanced lighting effects in the City.

And here we are, 12 busy days after the launch and spirits are high. We’ve hit some snags but we’re still working on the game, tweaking its performance and implementing changes requested by you. We are grateful for all of your feedback, both the good and the bad - we learn from it and it helps us make Alice VR a better game for everyone.


At the moment we’re working on adding full teleport movement support for the game and we’ll be improving the performance of Alice on Radeon graphics cards (of course this is not the end of the planned tweaks). This patch should drop after the upcoming weekend but for now we have some glitch fixes for you. Those were included in the big GOG update that brought its version in line with what’s available on Steam. However for GOG we’ve added some new fixes on top of the old fixes, and now we have to bring the Steam version in line with the GOG version. Oh, how the tables have turned.


What’s new:
  • Fixed the occasional bug when exiting the buggy could place you under the ground (but only waist down - we’re not monsters, we would never try to bury you alive, intentionally or otherwise);
  • Fixed the issue with strafing in HMD;
  • Fixed the occasional issue during the hallucination right after the Greenhouse level;
  • Fixed the occasional issue with saving the game on the desert (right after the planetarium);
  • Fixed the issue in the planetarium puzzle, which allowed gamers to acquire infinite amount of graphene. That was madness, Hatter’s levels of it;
  • Sound tweaks in the first City level;
  • Sound tweaks in the second City level;;
  • Fixed the issue in the Greenhouse which kept the door open all the time. That wasn’t right, the Greenhouse closes at 6pm;
  • Gameplay tweaks during the hallucination on the desert.
