Hey all! Refunct Update 10 is now live which improves movement, optimization and more:
  • Added mid-air step-up mechanic making movement smoother by adding leeway when barely missing edges on landing
  • Added 10-40% resolution scale for extremely low-end systems
  • Improved climbing at steep angles
  • Improved collision consistency by always using flat movement base
  • Improved performance using LODs, model and render tweaks
  • Fixed jerky physics while moving on rising islands
  • Fixed camera dipping into water in rare cases
  • Increased minimum required climb height slightly
  • Tweaked button collision by tapering off the top to fix sliding in rare cases with the collision changes

This update has been iterated on with the critical and passionate speedrun community. Also you can now name your price and pay what you want for Refunct's soundtrack / OST by Kristofferson getting it in high-quality MP3, FLAC and more.

Finally Refunct was released two years ago and I really just wanted to thank you all for your support.

Hey guys! Refunct Update 9 is now live which adds better water reflections, 6 new achievements, 11 new languages and more:
  • Added lit and shadowed real-time planar water reflections on at least medium and especially ultra effects quality settings (not supported on Linux)
  • Added 6 achievements
  • Added Arabic (not supported on Linux), Bulgarian, Czech, European Portuguese, Greek, Hungarian, Japanese, Romanian, Thai, Traditional Chinese and Ukrainian localization
  • Added right-to-left UI layout support for Arabic
  • Improved some existing localizations
  • Improved outro text quality
  • Fixed maintaining velocity when walljumping off of the very top of objects
  • Fixed resetting language to default on macOS and Linux
  • Tweaked automatically detected quality settings
  • Tweaked alternate outro text criteria
  • Tweaked selecting first played music on startup
Achievements
Of the new achievements there are 3 which add additional questions asked from the collected cubes which will be automatically awarded if you start Refunct on a completed save.

The other 3 achievements are about finishing Refunct under a certain completion% and in specific times adding challenge while still being very fair for those wanting to experience the depth of the movement system and introducing different ways to play Refunct. They were added due to high demand for replayability after getting 100% Refunct in-game and to make sure that Refunct has the same features on Steam compared to the recently released Xbox One version.

I am sorry for those that might feel temporarily robbed of one of their "Perfect Games" due to adding those achievements post-release so if you are not able to complete them please feel free to send me a mail to the address found on the support page so I can unlock them for you.

Speedrun
Also consider joining the Refunct speedrun community and challenge yourself further by submitting your recorded runs to the official leaderboard where you can see some cool tricks and optimal routes which may be helpful for getting the achievements.

Conclusion
Hopefully adding those completely optional achievements and other improvements like better reflections adds more value to you guys. Additionally Refunct is now available in all 27 languages currently supported by Steam thanks to the translations done by this awesome community.

Hi! Refunct Update 8 has been released which aims to reduce causing motion sickness for people prone to it and incorporates various player feedback:
  • Improved camera smoothness by using flat movement base collision on the ground
  • Fixed a few localization strings
  • Fixed showing incorrect restart message in rare cases
  • Fixed executable icon after Update 7
  • Tweaked hiding restart message after first instead of second restart after game completion
  • Tweaked default quality scaling
  • Reverted island rise timing changes of Update 7

Additionally if you are very prone to motion sickness the following may help further:
  • Try to not think about motion sickness
  • Reduce mouse/gamepad sensitivity
  • Tweak the graphics settings to run Refunct with at least 60 fps
  • Tweak the field of view
  • Set anti-aliasing to low or none
  • Do not hide the reticle

Hey all! A new update has gone live adding support for 16 languages and a lot of general improvements as well:
  • Added Chinese, Korean, Russian, German, French, Dutch, Swedish, Spanish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Polish, Turkish, Italian, Danish and Finnish localization
  • Added two achievements (reverted)
  • Added setting to change the language
  • Added fading fireworks if being too close to prevent flashing the player
  • Fixed framerate hitches due to audio after Update 5
  • Fixed launching the game without the latest Windows updates
  • Improved pillar rise timings slightly to make speedrun more consistent
  • Improved sky colors
  • Improved water sounds attenuation and volume
  • Improved text
  • Reduced required hard drive size
  • Removed coloring pillar below collectible when collecting

This also includes all changes from Update 6 which had been reverted until now:
  • Added showing completion time in-world during outro after first completion
  • Added showing pillar colors during outro after first completion
  • Added resetting speedrun and color mode by holding crouch button in menu
  • Added 180, 240, 288 and 300 frame rate caps
  • Improved performance and framerate stability
  • Improved walljump keeping upwards velocity if bigger than walljump upwards launch speed
  • Improved night colors and visibility
  • Improved gamepad rotation by adding a sensitivity curve
  • Improved gamepad movement by increasing the outer deadzone range
  • Improved keyboard and gamepad handling in menus
  • Improved field of view handling during outro scene
  • Improved colorized pillar color scheme
  • Improved random color algorithm to not allow same color twice
  • Improved controls naming in settings menu
  • Fixed crouch state when leaving narrow space after releasing then repressing crouch button
  • Fixed non-input braking friction being too high (regression after Update 3)
  • Fixed outro landing position to always be exactly the same
  • Fixed non-responsive game on macOS when loading with settings from before Update 5
  • Fixed fireworks trails visibility when looking directly up

Due to popular demand work has begun to translate Refunct to 16 different languages. This was completed by the community in just 4 days and will be included in the next update. Thanks to everyone involved!

Update 6 has been delayed due to rare AMD driver crashes. Here is a sneak-peak of the changelog:
  • Added showing completion time in-world during outro after first completion
  • Added showing pillar colors during outro after first completion
  • Added resetting speedrun and color mode by holding crouch button in menu
  • Added 180, 240, 288 and 300 frame rate caps
  • Improved performance and framerate stability
  • Improved walljump keeping upwards velocity if bigger than walljump upwards launch speed
  • Improved night colors and visibility
  • Improved gamepad rotation by adding a sensitivity curve
  • Improved gamepad movement by increasing the outer deadzone range
  • Improved keyboard and gamepad handling in menus
  • Improved field of view handling during outro scene

Note: The minimum macOS version will be 10.11.4 (El Capitan) as has been shown the past few months in the system requirements page due to the engine's removal of OpenGL support in favor of the more performant and feature-complete Metal API.
