Data Removal

You are responsible for data that may be stored on your product. Before you ship any products for recycling, you are responsible for (a) deleting the data on storage devices (e.g. hard disk drives) in the product(s); (b) backing up or transferring any data prior to recycling; and (c) removing any removable media, such as disks, microSD card, CDs or PC cards. We also recommend that customers use data erasing software to remove data from their product prior to recycling. Valve is not responsible for data loss as a result of recycling your product.

The following steps can be taken to delete data from a Steam Deck by performing a Factory Reset.
  1. Power on your Steam Deck.
  2. Press the Steam button.
  3. Select Settings.
