The short version
Whiskers of Yesterday ("the game") is developed by Blind Bird and published by BENEVIS LTD ("we", "us"), Sofia, Bulgaria. This End User License Agreement ("this agreement") is between you and us. By installing or playing the game you accept it. The Steam Subscriber Agreement also applies to your use of Steam. Questions: support@whiskersofyesterday.com.
When you buy the game, you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and play it through your Steam account, for your own non-commercial entertainment. This is how games on Steam work, and Steam's own terms say the same. The game's code, art, music, texts and characters remain the property of their creators: us and the artists and companies who licensed their work to us.
You may stream the game and share videos and screenshots of it, including monetised ones, as long as you don't present them as official. Some of the radio songs belong to artists who use content-identification systems (such as YouTube Content ID). If your video gets a claim, add the song's credit (listed under Music in the credits at https://whiskersofyesterday.com/eula.html) to the description and the claim can usually be released.
Online play uses Steam and Epic Online Services (see our Privacy Policy). Please treat other players kindly: no harassment, hate speech or cheating. The host of a game can mute, remove or ban players from that game. Online features depend on third-party services and may be changed, interrupted or ended; we don't guarantee they will always be available.
The game uses Unreal® Engine and other technology licensed to us by third parties, including Epic Games, Inc. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our licensors, including Epic Games, Inc., make no representations, warranties or conditions of any kind about Unreal Engine or any other licensed technology in the game, and disclaim all liability related to it. Epic Games, Inc. is not a party to this agreement and has no obligations to you under it.
To the extent the law allows, the game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose. Nothing in this agreement limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country that cannot be excluded or limited by contract, including your statutory rights if the game is not in conformity with what you bought.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from the game or this agreement, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the game. This does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
We may update the game, for example to fix problems or add features, and we may update this agreement. If we make important changes, we will say so in the game's Steam news or on this page; continuing to play after a change means you accept it. You can end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the game. It also ends automatically if you seriously break it. Sections 6, 7, 8 and 11 stay in force after it ends.
How the game uses personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
This agreement is governed by the laws of Bulgaria. If you are a consumer living in the European Union or elsewhere, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence, and you may bring a claim in the courts of your country. If any part of this agreement is found invalid, the rest stays in force.

Fonts
The game includes these fonts, licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1:
SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1
-----------------------------------------------------------
SIL OPEN FONT LICENSE Version 1.1 - 26 February 2007
-----------------------------------------------------------
PREAMBLE
The goals of the Open Font License (OFL) are to stimulate worldwide
development of collaborative font projects, to support the font creation
efforts of academic and linguistic communities, and to provide a free and
open framework in which fonts may be shared and improved in partnership
with others.
The OFL allows the licensed fonts to be used, studied, modified and
redistributed freely as long as they are not sold by themselves. The
fonts, including any derivative works, can be bundled, embedded,
redistributed and/or sold with any software provided that any reserved
names are not used by derivative works. The fonts and derivatives,
however, cannot be released under any other type of license. The
requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply
to any document created using the fonts or their derivatives.
DEFINITIONS
"Font Software" refers to the set of files released by the Copyright
Holder(s) under this license and clearly marked as such. This may
include source files, build scripts and documentation.
"Reserved Font Name" refers to any names specified as such after the
copyright statement(s).
"Original Version" refers to the collection of Font Software components as
distributed by the Copyright Holder(s).
"Modified Version" refers to any derivative made by adding to, deleting,
or substituting -- in part or in whole -- any of the components of the
Original Version, by changing formats or by porting the Font Software to a
new environment.
"Author" refers to any designer, engineer, programmer, technical
writer or other person who contributed to the Font Software.
PERMISSION & CONDITIONS
Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining
a copy of the Font Software, to use, study, copy, merge, embed, modify,
redistribute, and sell modified and unmodified copies of the Font
Software, subject to the following conditions:
1) Neither the Font Software nor any of its individual components,
in Original or Modified Versions, may be sold by itself.
2) Original or Modified Versions of the Font Software may be bundled,
redistributed and/or sold with any software, provided that each copy
contains the above copyright notice and this license. These can be
included either as stand-alone text files, human-readable headers or
in the appropriate machine-readable metadata fields within text or
binary files as long as those fields can be easily viewed by the user.
3) No Modified Version of the Font Software may use the Reserved Font
Name(s) unless explicit written permission is granted by the corresponding
Copyright Holder. This restriction only applies to the primary font name as
presented to the users.
4) The name(s) of the Copyright Holder(s) or the Author(s) of the Font
Software shall not be used to promote, endorse or advertise any
Modified Version, except to acknowledge the contribution(s) of the
Copyright Holder(s) and the Author(s) or with their explicit written
permission.
5) The Font Software, modified or unmodified, in part or in whole,
must be distributed entirely under this license, and must not be
distributed under any other license. The requirement for fonts to
remain under this license does not apply to any document created
using the Font Software.
TERMINATION
This license becomes null and void if any of the above conditions are
not met.
DISCLAIMER
THE FONT SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND,
EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT
OF COPYRIGHT, PATENT, TRADEMARK, OR OTHER RIGHT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE
COPYRIGHT HOLDER BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY,
INCLUDING ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL
DAMAGES, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING
FROM, OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE FONT SOFTWARE OR FROM
OTHER DEALINGS IN THE FONT SOFTWARE.
Music
Main menu music: "Winter in Millgrove" by Tom Day, used with the artist's permission.
Radio: "Good Vibes Only" by Jinee, used with the artist's permission. The following music is used under Creative Commons Attribution licences. No changes were made to the recordings.
Classical folder: these recordings were levelled for loudness and re-encoded for the game. No other changes were made.
Films
The music credits of all three films are also shown at the end of the films in the game.
Audiobooks
The audiobooks are LibriVox recordings (https://librivox.org), read by volunteers and released by LibriVox into the public domain. LibriVox only records books that are in the public domain in the United States. Thank you to all the LibriVox readers.
To keep the game friendly for all ages, a few words in some chapters are covered by a short meow. The recordings are otherwise unchanged.
Paintings in the house and Leonardo's notes
The ten paintings in the house are public-domain artworks by Katsushika Hokusai, Johannes Vermeer, Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Georges Seurat, Utagawa Hiroshige, Francisco de Goya, Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen, Henriëtte Ronner-Knip and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Leonardo da Vinci's notes are adapted from his notebooks, written more than 500 years ago.
The hidden gallery
The 112 paintings in the hidden gallery are public-domain artworks: every artist died in 1926 or earlier, so the works are free to use in the EU, the USA and elsewhere. Most images were released by their museums as CC0 1.0 or with the Public Domain Mark 1.0, and we thank The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), the National Gallery of Art (Washington), the Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam), the Art Institute of Chicago, SMK – National Gallery of Denmark and the Cleveland Museum of Art for sharing them. A few famous works (the Icons wing) come from faithful public-domain photos on Wikimedia Commons; a faithful photo of a public-domain painting carries no new copyright in the EU (Directive 2019/790, Article 14) or the USA (Bridgeman v. Corel, 1999). The texts about the paintings were written for the game.
All 112 paintings

3. What you may not do

8. Limitation of liability
9. Updates, changes and ending this agreement
We may update the game, for example to fix problems or add features, and we may update this agreement. If we make important changes, we will say so in the game's Steam news or on this page; continuing to play after a change means you accept it. Audiobooks
The audiobooks are LibriVox recordings (https://librivox.org), read by volunteers and released by LibriVox into the public domain. LibriVox only records books that are in the public domain in the United States. Thank you to all the LibriVox readers.
- Novels: Alice in Wonderland (Lewis Carroll), Heidi (Johanna Spyri), Jane Eyre (Charlotte Brontë), Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen), The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Arthur Conan Doyle), Treasure Island (Robert Louis Stevenson).
- Fairy tales: The Happy Prince, The Nightingale and the Rose and The Selfish Giant (Oscar Wilde); The Ugly Duckling, The Little Match Girl, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, The Little Mermaid and The Emperor's New Clothes (Hans Christian Andersen); The Velveteen Rabbit (Margery Williams); The Light Princess (George MacDonald).
