Having played games since at least 1988, there's so much out there and so much to sort through. I'm taking some time to put the highlight on some of my favorites across all genres.

Quirky characters, weird & interesting world, + constant wish to know more about the game's backstory. Formulaic at times, but I found that comforting. Wish there were more uses for some mutations.

Scarily compelling card game with a fantastic aesthetic & interesting world. Lots of unusual characters, engaging mechanics, and secrets. Dying to see more in this IP - DLC, new games, anything.

Great aesthetic, highly interesting world/lore. Lot of fun cat stuff. Really hoping for more content/games in this IP. Travel/platforming are a bit restrictive.

Honored member of the shmup pantheon, so to speak. Great art & amazing soundtrack. Scoring system has a very long road to mastery. Overall incredibly difficult. I will 1cc this one day...

An incredible (albeit slightly disappointingly non-multiplayer) refinement of what made Absolver great. Ridiculously quick & snappy, satisfying combat paired with a great aesthetic & lore.

Great art (albeit somewhat stiff animations at times) and a generally interesting world. UX & polish issues + cut content can be a significant damper (definitely rebind controls via steam overlay).

While it definitely could qualify as a walking simulator, the world & lore (especially the origins of... that event...) combined with Kojima's trademark weirdness keep things interesting.

A new take on columns-style gameplay, with the added twist of matching in 3 dimensions. Possibly a bit too easy, but I could see the difficulty ramping up in later levels.

A chill, relaxing fishing game and NOTHING ELSE. Right? Does a great job of recreating the oldschool PSX aesthetic & gameplay matches without feeling clunky.
