Wander through youth with a camera and everything shaded in gray.. and more time travel than you are used to. A badass soundtrack follows you.

How much can you love a game for having an unusual control scheme? Magicka has you frantically remembering and pounding in formulas to cast spells.

Yes this reccomendation is rather Captain Obvious. But.. distinct sense of place, art deco, fear of drowning, and creepy little girls.

Offbeat, funny, in space. You are not great. You can lick many surfaces in this game. (Might require some tinkering to run on modern systems.)

Not exactly linear character development, easy ways to play with friends despite differing progression. Player choice + Final Fantasy flavored world.

Sympathetic characters with unique and badass character design. Good shooting things gameplay, but with emotional complexity and a story to care about.

Strange, aestetically distinct world, gameplay that isn't status quo. Character motivations that get deeper rather than shallower as the game progresses
