Split/Second (2010) is an arcade action racing game with explosions. Suffers from a lack of content & misses a feeling of progress. So much fun, still.

Binary Domain has fluid action, mediocre RPG-play & interesting character interaction, but does an overwhelmingly sloppy job of pulling it all together.

MirrorMoon EP suffers from unclear goals and instructions, pushing 'exploration as gameplay' beyond what is comfortable, but also towards something new.

At times unplayable, Alpha Protocol (2010) had brave new narrative structures, and gave the player more responsibility than seen before (and after).

Turkish title Mount & Blade (2008) offers no purpose beyond 'doing well' even though it suggests it does, but still manages to be an interesting game.

Morrowind (2002) is by far my favorite Elder Scrolls installment, although that might have to do with the amount of spare time I had back in the days.

The latest Wolfenstein (2014) title offers an a great middle act, wedged between a weak opening and terrible ending. Strong design solutions throughout.

Super Hexagon is pure, elegant and minimal. It's also infuriating and gorgeous on a big screen.

A flawed, brutal yet exhilarating procedurally generated thrill-ride, Risk of Rain (2013) beautifully juggles different resources against each other.
