There is no doubt that ZA/UM has a captivating world and an interesting story to sell, but its heavy handed delivery lets it down. However, if you like narrative cRPGs, you will find few as ambitious.

Truly amazing writing nestled in a strict CRPG. Perhaps the biggest compliment I can pay it for it's loyalty to the CRPG genre, is that the combat feels appropriately broken.

Outstanding mix of puzzle and strategy, with a narrative that keeps you hooked and doesn't get too high off its own supply. Writing does come off as a little cringe at times, but it's forgivable.

You can really tell when you're playing a game that was the designer's magnum opus. The way in which different mechanics in Mewgenics interact makes it instantly addictive.

This game proved once and for all that it's not puzzles in video games that I hate, it's bad puzzles. This port however is rough, changing graphics settings was like running a gauntlet for crashes.
