The insane number of combat mechanics was overwhelming as a newcomer, but years later it's become one of my favorite action games. You have to work for it, but few games make you feel this stylish.

A short and sweet selection of high-speed grappling hook obstacle courses that are a ton of fun to improve your times on. Few games make it this fun to keep your momentum going.

One of the few recent AAA games I return to over and over again. A strong contender for the most fun FPS ever. (If you're at all familiar with it or similar games, turn off those tacky tutorials).

Endure the steep learning curve and the result is one of the wildest rollercoasters of an action game you'll ever experience, made even better by the most lovably goofy story in Platinum's lineup.

A cute and frantic boss rush shooter that rewards mastery of dodging and grazing enemy bullets. (Used to require beating in one sitting but now has saving, making it easier to recommend).

A genuinely horrific story with lots of room for interpretation, and a main character whose adorable comments make for perfectly contrasting flavor text. A gem of both horror and point-and-clicks.

The first Dark Souls is still the best. A much messier product than 2 or 3, but it's got a lot more originality and much greater sense of dread when exploring its beautifully interconnected world.

I know nothing about Touhou, but this is a metroidvania where you can throw knives and stop time and stand on the knives you threw, so it's welcome in my house.

A great horror adventure with a solid lineup of creative and genuinely scary moments. Gets intense, but with an underlying goofiness that keeps things fun. Ends a bit abruptly, but a cool ride.
