The anti-cheat seems to work but there have been unconfirmed cases of false bans popping up every now and then. Proceed with caution when approaching this title.

VAC updates very regularly and bans are dished out in the same way CS:GO's bans are - in monthly or bi-monthly VAC waves. Not uncommon to encounter cheaters but they get promptly banned.

We've heard mixed reports of the anti-cheat with this game falsely banning for detecting some software on your computer but it does issue bans fairly regularly.

You can get VAC banned in this game merely by having Cheat Engine open and those bans do not get reversed unlike in CS:GO. While a good game, be wary of this tidbit.

While it does advertise as having Valve Anti-Cheat - it doesn't seem to actually do anything and no recorded VAC bans for ORION: Prelude exist. If you can make a cheat - you can run rampant basically.

VAC in Team Fortress 2 is severely outdated and easily exploitable. Bans are usually manual and not the result of an automated system. The last big banwave for the game was in 2016.
