The series was supposed to end with IV, but Core was forced to pump this out. It still has some really inventive locales and stories but the designer's fatigue with the series begins to show.

The most narrative & character driven Core TR game, its graphics, mechanics and level design were a peak for the Core designed games. To some the best of the series, and required reading for TR fans.

Core outdid themselves with original locales for this game, India, Area 51, Thing-esque arctic research station. The expansion Lost Artifact offers even more unique locals and the gameplay is great.

A confluence of great ideas matched with the right tech advancements in gaming made TR an instant classic. But like Thief 1, it was afraid to embrace its identity and is too combat oriented at times.

It impressed upon release for its technical achievements and great gameplay IDEAS, however the holistic execution was a mess and I never connected with it. As a huge FC series fan the irony abounds.

Takes the highly fun mechanics introduced in FC3 and crafts an entire campaign around takedowns, action movie weapons and 80s camp resulting in a helluva expansion, but not quite as good as I recall.

Not quite what I imagined when I realized FC4's thangka levels could carry a whole game, a melee and bow focused FC game with some interesting ideas. Very flawed but ultimately a fun experience.

Why do "RPG" mechanics now mean giving NPCs and weapons STATS. Surely role-playing immersion is ruined when headshotting an enemy in a bike helmet with a .50 BMG doesn't kill them. A Terrible "RPG".

Ridiculous plot, a biome too similar to the previous 2 games, a cornucopia of missed opportunities and removal of bladed takedowns were dealbreakers for me. Great gameplay, disappointing substrate.
