The classic weapons-based 3D fighter. Contains a fully-featured character creator you can spend hours in, even if some of that time is spent wrestling with the clunky interface.

An absolutely huge 3D fighter. Tons of unique characters (even quite a few unexpected cameos). Custom costumes. Bowling. No tutorial - Harada says the story mode will teach you.

One of the easiest 3D fighters to pick up, especially since four characters are completely free. The presentation could be a tad awkward, but then again, that might be what you're looking for.

Like a 1v1 Super Crate Box. One player controls a character with a charge shot, and the other assembles a pool of enemies he can spawn in real time. A simple, but fascinating possibility space.

An easily-digestible abstract sports game. Pretty bare bones in terms of visuals and audio, but the simple mechanics are easy to learn and fun to work with. And, plenty of variant modes to try out.
