Technically it's competitive, but it's kind of sandboxy and so flexibly co-operative too. In multiple couch co-op sessions with multiple parties, we have never had so much fun and laughed so hard.

I like this game, but co-op does not add much to it. Barely any puzzles benefit from a second player, and the pace can be very slow while you try to work out how to progress.

If [i]Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light[/i] is the benchmark, the LEGO games tend to have rather obtuse and unsatisfying puzzles, and scenes tend to drag out too long.
