Unusually, your own character is very small and low def. However, animations are smooth, every creature recognizable and the sheer size makes them so much more threatening.

Terrain is plainly coloured. Everything important has neon colors. Flashy animations and sparks create a tower defense game with an apocalyptic athmosphere.

Remember Heart of Darkness? The enviroments feel detailed and enemies are threatening, even though you can count the pixel. The colour palettes and fluid animations do the trick!

A homage to Metal Slug. The designs are much more voluptious than the gritty predecessor, but not less bloody nor challenging.

It is a tough challenge to recreate Silent Hill with sprites and low-def. Surprisingly, using fewer details results in greater horror, as your mind fills the gaps the sprites won't.

Creatures and buildings are well designed and a good example on how to use a natural colour palette. The gameplay might become repetitive, though.

Sprites are gritty, but with rather fluid animations. Surprisingly good shadows and wonderful levels create a grim yet impressive athmosphere.

If it is a flashy neon colour, it is either a projectile or an enemy - dodge both and enjoy a simple arcade game with a crisp, retro style.

While the music is the best feature of this game, the art style makes everything run smoothly. Just as many frames as needed to tell what happens, who is attacking and OH SHINEYS.

You know the small unit sprites from Fire Emblem strategic view? Never knew how visceral these things can brawl, explode and reproduce. Oh and it is highly tactical.
