If you follow the happenings of Pandora with any form of regularity, chances are you know Gearbox is pumping out Borderlands 2 DLC past what was originally promised (and paid for) in the original Season Pass.

In an interview with Digital Trends, Gearbox CEO, President, and Founder Randy Pitchford promised even more, yet-to-be announced DLC, but cautioned that this latest batch of DLC won’t be anywhere near the scale of first few add-ons.

“We’ve got more content to come, but if you get it in your mind that you’re expecting the same amount that was in the Season Pass, I’m afraid we’re going to disappoint you,” Pitchford said. “Because the content that’s to come is not of that same scale. It’s not going to be priced at the same scale, so the value will be great, but it’s not at that same scale.”

Considering all the previous packs were $10 for non-Season Pass holders (besides the $5 Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2), my guess is we’ll see future packs being sold somewhere in the $5 range. I suppose it gives Pandora’s more dedicated pillagers something to chew on while Gearbox tinkers with that new game of theirs.

Gearbox has released a short film called "+5 to Punching: A Bunkers & Badasses Prologue," which acts as a prologue of sorts for Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon’s Keep DLC you might remember falling into your digital lap last June.

Apparently, everything began with Brick and Tiny Tina being captured and interrogated in a Hyperion stronghold, with Tina using her deranged imagination to give Brick the inspiration needed to break free of his chains and incapacitate the "sorcerer" holding them captive. It just goes to show how powerful a colorful imagination can be, though I suppose having biceps larger than your skull helps too.

Borderlands 2's next piece of DLC, the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2: Digistruct Peak Challenge, comes out September 3 and raises the level cap from 61 to 72. The more story-focused DLC T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvest, comes out sometime this Fall, though we're guessing it'll be around Halloween considering the main boss is named Jaques O'Lantern. Pumpkins tend to be a little more frightening in October, when they haven't transitioned to their delicious pie form.

Borderlands 2 goty edition contains zero goats

In a dance as old as time itself (or at least, as old as the mid-2000s), Gearbox have announced the inevitable Game of the Year super-bundle for Borderlands 2. As is tradition, the package will shepherd all the current DLC bits alongside the main game into a single release. In Borderlands 2's case, that means an absolutely absurd number of things to shoot with increasingly bizarre weapons.

Hey, guys! What's in Borderlands 2's Goaty edition?

Borderlands 2 Main Game
Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty
Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage
Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt
Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep
Creature Slaughter Dome
Gaige, the Mechromancer Character Class
Gearbox Gun Pack
Golden Key
Vault Hunter's Relic
Krieg, the Psycho Character Class
Collector’s Edition Heads and Skins
Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1

A lot of stuff. Interestingly, not all of the stuff, though. Gearbox have further plans for new content, including a second Vault Hunter Upgrade pack, increasing the level-cap 72, and the further adventures of T.K. Baha. Does this mean there'll be another bundle years down the line? Borderlands 2: Game of the Decade edition may be pushing the self-congratulatory naming scheme a tad too far.

It's still a quality package, filled with some excellent DLC bits that cheerfully warp the main campaign. Borderlands 2: Game of the Year edition is due out October 11, for some as-yet unannounced amount of moneys.

Gearbox continue to add to Borderlands 2's bulging bag of DLC with two more bits of content, which will expand the colourful co-op shooter sometime this Autumn. If you're scraping the level cap, you'll be pleased to hear that it will soon be raised to 72 (well, if you buy the DLC), while T.K. Baha (an NPC from the first game) will return a bit later down the road. Probably at Halloween, because of that whole 'he's a zombie now' thing. Read on for more details.

As announced at PAX Australia this weekend, Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2: Digistruct Peak will raise the level cap by 11 to 72, adding a new map/mode that will let you fight overpowered bad guys “for new loot and the ability to 'over level' your game for extra challenges”. Headhunter Pack: T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvest, meanwhile, features a new bunch of missions and a boss fight against the aptly named Jacques O'Lantern. I guess if you're surname is 'O'Lantern', you really don't have much a choice.

The first pack will set you back $5, though there's no price given for the second yet. Season Pass owners will have to fork out too, I'm afraid, as that particular season appears to be over.

Thanks, Kotaku.

Gearbox, the developer behind the Borderlands series, has been putting out great behind-the-scenes content via its Inside the Box blog. The blog’s newest post dives deep into field of view, and what it means for players prone to motion sickness or players using extra widescreen settings.

User Interface programmer Kyle Pittman is apparently the guy to thank for Borderlands 2’s adjustable FOV slider, as he championed the change after Borderlands 1’s 70 degree field of view was a big complaint from gamers.

“An FOV that feels appropriate when sitting several feet away from a TV probably isn’t going to feel right when seated directly in front of a monitor,” Pittman writes. “This discrepancy is what can cause motion sickness or a feeling of tunnel vision.”

This also explains why sometimes the most vomit-inducing thing in gaming is to stand over someone’s shoulder watching them play a first-person game. The field of view is meant for them, not for you, and the difference in the angles is like being stuck in the vomit comet without a seatbelt.

Pittman also discusses the various bugs introduced to the game when the FOV slider was first implemented, then has some fun with the math involved—though I barely understood a word of it.

If you’ve ever wondered about the ideal FOV for gaming or how difficult varying FOV is to implement in games with cut-rate PC ports, check out the full post at Inside the Box.

It’s easy to imagine Borderlands 2’s trail of DLC ending with an adventure in Tiny Tina’s schizophrenic mind, but CEO and President of Gearbox Software Randy Pitchford has different plans.

Speaking on the Nerdist podcast, Pitchford said people had assumed there would only be four pieces of DLC as that’s what’s included in the season pass, but assumptions aren’t always correct.

“Everyone has this expectation that those would be the four DLCs and then that’s it,” Pitchford said. “We’re going to do more. We’re going to do some other things. We don’t have details yet about it exactly.

“We’ve got more stuff in the hopper that we’re planning and that we’re getting pretty excited about. So if you are a Borderlands fan, you don’t have to be afraid that that’s the end of it.”

The podcast ended on a mysterious note when Pitchford teased that Gearbox is working on a new IP for next-gen consoles (and PC?).

“We are building an original IP for the next generation that we’ll announce sometime later,” Pitchford said.

Pitchford didn’t give a time table for when we might hear more about this mysterious new IP, though it likely won’t be any time this year, considering we’re just hearing about it now rather than at E3.

Congratulations reader, you are now enjoying the News Post of the Year. Admittedly it has won no awards, nor received any critical praise. But I figure if games can give themselves a self-congratulatory Game of the Year edition, why can't I? The most recent sighting is for a Borderlands 2: GOTY bundle, references to which have been found in the Steam database. While the distributor's back-end listings can be an unreliable measure of future releases, it's not against type for the series.

If it is real, here's what will be found inside Borderlands 2: A Game That Was Released In The Year That It Was Released edition:

Captain Scarlet’s And Her Pirate’s Booty
Mister Torgue’s Campaign Of Carnage
Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt
Tiny Tina’s Assault On Dragon Keep
Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade
Mechromancer Pack
Psycho Pack
Creature Slaughter Dome

Basically, it's a full round up of the extra levels and new characters introduced since the games release. Of course, for now there's no official confirmation on the existence of the pack, so also no word on its price or release.

Oh, and do me a favour: don't go telling people about this whole News Post of the Year thing. Otherwise they'll all be at it.

Thanks, MP1st.
