With Syphon I wanted to go full metal/epic - it's a powerful rot spell! It had to be very dramatic to do the card justice, and what better way than a classic stormy, cliff-side summoning? A number of different artists helped out on it - Adam sketched out the Sorcerer-Rat's pose, I rendered it all up and Jack finally animated it, adding some nice touches like the rain. What was important to me was getting those great columns of rot-stuff swirling powerfully through the air, and the vastness of the space they're travelling through.
Collabs like this bear great fruits (perhaps in this case rotten-fruits?).

We all like to wonder what’s in those deep dark fortified dungeons to the abyss, what horrors they hold back and terrors have been unleashed in their confines – Too many heroes have been surprised and ravaged by a Bane spawn at night, though they are random, there is a logical pattern and system to their apparent madness.
Bane Telegraphing is a new feature we’ve implemented in the new update V1.9 ‘From Below’, we’ve added an indicator in the form of rising, bellowing Rot smog to ‘telegraph’ a Bane’s pending arrival. Players can make great use of this knowledge; They can move to protect a nearby settlement; Or not proceed to a Settlement at all and save their action points; Plan their journey to not come face-to-face with a Bane; Or specifically hunt these creatures out to claim their Prestige. Principally players now have a little more knowledge to make decisions about how to proceed with the threats ahead, and that knowledge is a wonderful thing in the grim kingdom of Armello.
