Contents Updates


- Added login event contents
- Supply Crate rewards have been changed

  • A Supply Crate will now be given after winning 3 matches. Adding 2 more wins afterwards will provide a Quality Supply Crate.
  • Once player receives a Quality Supply Crate by winning 5 matches, reward count will be reset and player will receive a regular Supply Crate after winning 3 matches again.
  • Supply Crate now provides 1 or 2 Purified Ore
  • Quality Supply Crate now provides 1 or 2 Purified Crystal

- Update on Weekly 50% Discount

  • Discount on sunglasses is over, and following items will be on sale
  • Napping Cat, Horse Mask, Friendly Chicks, Compact Wind Turbine, Skull Mask
    (Weekly Discount does not affect gold prices of the sale items)

- A safety system has been added to permanent unique (orange and blue) item disassemble interface. Players now need to input numeric codes displayed in the interface in order to proceed with disassembling unique items.
- Updates on netcode

  • Amount of host’s bandwidth usage is greatly reduced.
  • Anti-leadshot feature has been improved, thus gameplay with bad ping has been greatly improved.
  • Improved the issue of characters shaking when ping is bad.

- Number of rounds in 1vs1 Team Elimination and Gladiator matches is now increased to 7 rounds.

Balance updates


- Common changes

  • The distance that a player can travel in the air by dashing after wall jumping has been decreased
  • Resolved the bug in which characters that are knocked up in the air or knocked down on ground not getting 50% reduced damage from flame thrower and grenade launcher.
  • Player characters can no longer shoot while on boost run status. (Firing ranged weapon will cancel boost run)
  • Flipping (knocking up) now keeps targets in the air slightly longer than before.
  • Continuous dashing motion is now smoother and dash-jumping distance has been increased.
  • Added new character animation/motion for when getting attacked in mid-air.
  • Player characters now receive super armor status when rising up from the ground and take only 50% damage when attacked while rising up.
  • Player characters now take 50% reduced damage while in bash motion.
  • Getting knocked up again in mid-air now won’t get the target as high as before.
  • Player characters can only Rise, Rise Attack, or Roll Dodge when knocked down on ground now.

    • Any action other than these intended ones such as does not cancel rising animation. For instance, players can no longer shoot ranged weapon while rising up.

  • The following damage reduction skills and states now also reduce damage from active skills (Q, E, R skills):

    • Armor stat bones
    • Knocked-down and Knocked-up states
    • Particular damage reduction skills such as Rena’s Shadow Dancce

  • Player characters can now move while guarding or taking NPC’s melee attack.
  • All player characters’ rising attack now have fixed damages instead of damage based on weapon’s attack power

    • Ivan: 40
    • Rena: 40
    • Elena: 30
    • Max: 40


- Character balance updates

Ivan


  • R skill, Lightning Blade damage is decreased from 70 to 40 and has 4.5 second cool-down time.
  • Decreased damage of jump attack by 25%. Ivan can now continue combo attack on targets that are knocked up in the air.
  • Attack Damage ratio of the final blow of a combo attack has been decreased from 1.8 to 1.5.
  • Attack Damage ratio of the knock-up attack lead by 3 normal melee attack combo has been decreased from 1.0 to 0.8.
  • Lucky Bullet now knocks back enemy targets.
  • Invincibility duration of following skills has been reduced.

    • Cyclone Kick: 0.9 sec > 0.5 sec
    • Death Strike: 0.9 sec > 0.5 sec


Elena


  • Damage of R skill, Home Run has been decreased from 75 to 45. R skill now has 5 second cool-down time.
  • Increased damage of final blow of LMB>LMB>RMB>RMB combo attack.
    (LMB: left mouse button, RMB: right mouse button)
  • Reduced reloading time of Marauder series (Marauder reduced to 0.1 / Lightning Marauder to 0.05).
  • Decreased penetration rate of New Tuber from 18% to 15%.
  • Elena can now deal combo attack on enemy target that is already in mid-air.
  • Hammerfall now knocks up enemy targets instead of knocking them back.
  • Decreased DPS of assault rifles by 5%.
  • Grenade round’s direct hit sensitivity has been reduced.

    • Before: grenade exploded if an enemy target existed within 20~25 CM radius
    • Now: grenade explodes if an enemy target exists within 5 CM radius

  • Invincibility duration of following skills has been reduced.

    • Hammerfall: 1 sec > 0.8 sec


Max


  • Seismic Smash damage reduced from 60 to 40, and it now has 7 second cool-down time.
  • Reduced radius bonus of Seismic Smash gained by Crowd Control skill by 33%.
  • Fixed the bug of Shield Shock not damaging enemies when casted right above the targets. Reduced damage of Shield Shock from 140 to 120. Shield Shock can also damage knocked-down enemies now.
  • Reduced penetration rate of flamethrowers by 10%, except for:
    Inquisitor - no change
    Blast Inquisitor – increased penetration rate by 5%
  • Slightly reduced DPS of Apocalypse series.
  • Movement speed when holding miniguns has been increased slightly.
  • Dash attack with shield now knocks back enemy targets instead of knocking them down.
  • Damage of Shield Charge has been increased from 160 to 180.
  • Getting attacked with normal attacks while shooting flamethrower or minigun now does not cancel/stop shooting action.
  • Invincibility duration of following skills has been reduced.

    • Shield Shock: when slamming on ground 0.6 sec > 0.3 sec / additional 0.2 sec when activated
    • Shield Charge: 0.9 sec > 0.5 sec


Rena


  • Shadow Rush skill damage is reduced from 80 to 40, and it now has 6 second cool-down time.
  • Cloaking after casting Shadow Decoy now grants her invincibility for 0.2 seconds instead of being invincible for the entire cloaking duration.
  • Added casting time on Shadow Dance skill, and Rena becomes invincible for 0.2 seconds after casting the skill.
  • Jump attack damage has been reduced by 15% and Rena can now deal combo attack on enemy target that is already in mid-air.
  • Shadow Rush now knocks down enemy targets.
  • While Shadow Rush skill has been an unguardable skill, player characters can now receive Guard Break status when guarding it with melee weapon.

In the following week or the next, we will be applying below balance changes.
This update will be shortly followed by a new content update patch which would introduce the new character class, Strider.

Common changes

Community Announcements - Venister


Hi everyone. Venister here.

As I told you before, I’d like to share more details of Wayne. I explained about the basic movement and his melee weapon before. You can find out about them from the previous announcement. Today I’d like to reveal more about his ranged weapons.

Revolver


Strider’s unique weapon is Revolver, which deals significant damage to his foes. His special skill, ‘Fast Draw’, lets him cast critical hit on the first target he shoots after drawing revolver from the holsters. Fast Draw skill shot cannot be guarded with any melee weapon, either. There is also down side of this weapon. Since it’s not an automatic firearm, you need to fire each of your bullets carefully. If you need high DPS at once, you would have to click fast. Revolver is also weak in long ranged battle since it is optimized for short and mid ranged combat situations.

Lever Action Rifle


Lever Action Rifle is another unique weapon of Wayne’s. It’s very similar to sniper rifle but it does not have zoom functionality. It has accurate aim and is designed to be used in long ranged battle. Enemies shot with lever action rifle also get stunned for a moment just like sniper rifle does. Its delay is shorter than sniper rifles but deals lower damage than sniper rifle, and the effective range is shorter than sniper rifle, too.

More Details on Tumbling


Advantages of Tumbling: Distance that you can move with tumbling is longer than dash. It also grants super armor status so it cannot be interfered with any melee attack. Tumbling’s passive also reduces damages that you take from your enemies.

Disadvantages of Tumbling: You cannot change the direction of your movement while you're tumbling. Tumbling is also slower than dashing. Toggling between ranged and melee weapons while tumbling is also very difficult.


I would like to say that the upcoming update will be huge in size. We’ve made a number of changes on game balance and added more stylish combos. Also, as I’ve mentioned before, the network code will be further optimized. This update will be made before arrival of Wayne, and we will post another announcement with more details of the next update very soon.

Hello everyone. Venister here.

Today I’d like to share with you a little bit details of upcoming new class. His name is Wayne, and the class name is Strider. He’s a member of Rising Falcon, and he was a cowboy.

His skill is very different with other characters. First, he will not use dash while he holds ranged weapons. Instead of dash skill, we designed new dodge skill ‘tumbling’ for him.

When he uses ‘Tumbling’, he will be super armor state for a while. So you can shoot the rifle when he does tumbling without interrupt from other players. But the movement is a little bit slow and it would be weak at machine gun or SMG because enemies can forecast the next position.

Also he will have very interesting weapons. Today I am going to explain about his melee weapon.

Whip


‘Whip’ is a very attractive. He can pull an enemy to himself with his whip. Because the skill is a basic skill, you can make a new tactics with it though it could be guarded.

Also with special skills, he can give tons of damages to many other enemies at the same time. Especially the ultimate skill 'R' cannot be guarded, and it will place your enemies in the air.

I'm glad to reach out to you with new updates. Today, I'd like to share with you a little bit of today's patch and details of upcoming updates.

Our team is still working really hard as usual. They have been having some hard time since players left but we're still grateful for that there are still players that support our game.

Today, we're adding a new game map as seen above. While this map is only available in Gladiator mode, we're not just updating Gladiator mode. Anyway, this new map is designed based on a art of Adam Corp's storage. We took a part of a campaign mode map, and resigned it for Gladiator mode match.

In the following week, we'll be adding a new map in a similar manner catering the rest of game modes like TDM. I'll share more details next week.

Then, we will be able to introduce you a bit about the next new character class pretty soon. Though I do want to share it with you as soon as possible, we still haven't completed some art work and I thought I'd wait a bit more to be abale to give you the introduction with visual presentation. I have not played the new character myself, but it looks like an attractive character looking at the development process. I can't wait to give you more details because I have a strong feeling that it will come with a bunch of new strategies and play styles.

Before we release the new character, we will be applying network optimization codes. The biggest problem at the moment is that network code of GunZ 2 is not yet fully optimized, and we will treat this with top priority level. - Dedicated server is something that cannot be done within short time period, so let's discuss that later.

Once the network code optimization update is applied, you might feel some differences in the feel of gameplay. Gameplay experience will be improved for players with low bandwidth capability - slow internet.

We also expect that players with high bandwidth capability will find some improvements in character motion such as jumping.

I will be back with more updates next week about other important topics.

- Auto match now searches for smaller match if there are not enough players in the match queue
Match queue sometimes took a long time when there are not many players playing at the moment.
Auto match can now get you into smaller matches such as 1vs1 or 2vs 2 instead of the full 4vs4 match.
* Team Deathmatch winning score for 1vs1 is 100 and for 2vs2 is 200.
* Time Assault mode is not included for this feature. You still need 4vs4 for TA mode.

- Your chat channel is now selected based on your location (country) by default.

Hello, I am Venister, CEO of MAIET.

I’d like to thank all of you who support our game despite that there is a lot that the game lacks. Although it has not been a smooth sail till now, it has been a full month since the launching of Early Access of GunZ 2. Today, I would like to share some insights of the status quo of GunZ 2 service.

First, the size of our development team is quite small. They’ve been working really hard developing the game, and they’re trying even harder trying to make GunZ 2 a better game. Although the team of 25 staff has been working day and night trying to cover as much as they could, there is still a lot that the game needs improvement on. I feel deeply sorry that the outcome is not being made as fast as all of us wants, but I can assure you that we will keep making improvements on GunZ 2 even though it may be slow.

As we launched GunZ 2 on Steam, we have been facing countless problems which we have never come across before. Publishing and operating a commercial service is something that we have never experienced since the company was founded. We were lost at first and went through lots of unexpected issues, but we still think the whole journey has been a very exciting experience. The fact that we are dealing with our fans face-to-face without a publisher in the middle is also very encouraging as well.

Let me talk a little bit about some of the issues that many of you are discussing on forums for the time being.

1. Balancing


Balancing issue is not something that can or should be changed just because someone complains, ‘this character is seriously over-powered.’ Everyone can have a different opinion on balancing, so it requires data analysis. We plan on publishing statistics data regarding character balance, so let us discuss together then.

2. Custom Game Mode


Like our staff have stated before, Custom Game is already available in the game, but it is only disabled for now. We disabled it because we want our players get used to auto-matching game first. Before we open Custom Game, we will fix problems of auto-match system such as match queue taking too long where there are a small number of players on the queue. We also think custom games can be abused for many ill purposes. Hence, there custom game rewards will be quite small even when it’s open. We only want to open it for the community.

3. Event


The MVP events we recently held were small in many aspects and scale. Since it was the first event content we tried, it’s been a bug feast and it still needs a lot to be worked on. We are aware of that win count didn’t get registered properly for some players due to a bug, but it’s very hard to make it up for these players currently. We are also aware of that hack users and their friends are abusing the system. These current issues will be addressed soon. We will resolve the problems as soon as possible and make it up to everyone with better events. Once the current issues are resolved, we will enhance the event contents with more variety and better rewards.

Lastly, let’s talk about k-style for a little bit.

Like we have mentioned a number of times already, there is nothing to reconsider about k-style. We do not intend to reproduce it just like that of GunZ 1. However, like some of you may have already found out, there is a feature that triggers animation/motion cancelation for each character. For instance, if you swap your weapon to a ranged weapon right after flipping an enemy with melee weapon, the second action cancels flip motion and lets you fire your ranged weapon right away. It is not easy to come up with a general rule for these, and it requires a lot of manual labor to balance them out. We might even end up having to change animation/motion rules while we try to keep each of them under control. However, if we find players’ suggestion interesting and free from any balance issue, we will definitely implement it in the game. Most important thing here is that all in-game motions should be well balanced among all character classes, and we will fix it if the balance is broken.

Once again, I’d like to thank you all how enjoy and support our game. I also hope you all get an item that you want with the Purified Crystals that we will give out for celebrating 1 month of game service. Thank you all.
