Community Announcements - The Behemoth Megan

Since 2008 Castle Crashers has been the largest, most successful game we've ever created. We are proud to announce that just recently Castle Crashers Steam has passed the 1 million mark, pushing the cumulative total to 5 million downloads across all platforms!

In celebration of this 5 million milestone, we are going back to 2005 when we started working on Castle Crashers.

Back in 2005, Dan Paladin, our art director, started sketching up ideas for our 2D multiplayer adventure. Our previous BattleBlock Theater sketch blog post was well received, so we thought it’d be fun to show off some of the original creations for Castle Crashers.

Click HERE to see the rest of the sketches. Some of these ideas got slightly altered before the game finished development, and some of them didn’t make it to the final version! Can you point out which ones made it in?

This weekend we’ll be at PAX East for another three day adventure with our fans! In the last two weeks, we’ve revealed a few new items coming to our gift shop at Booth 512: Pinny Arcade Pins, BattleBlock Theater hats, and Troll t-shirts!

Now it’s time to reveal a bit of our schedule during this year’s PAX East:

On Friday and Saturday, you’ll have a chance to get your Behemoth gear signed by Tom Fulp and Will Stamper. Tom is a co-founder of the Behemoth and programmer for Alien Hominid & Castle Crashers. Will is best known as the narrator of BattleBlock Theater, but also sprinkled his talent in various parts of Castle Crashers including song writing, voice acting for the Ice King, and voice acting for the Industrial King.

Join us Friday, April 11th, and Saturday, April 12th @ PAX East Booth 512 between 2PM-4PM for the free autograph sessions. Our team will also be on the show floor if you just want to ask us a question or say hello.

Another exciting way of playing Castle Crashers Steam Edition is coming your way! This summer, Gestureworks Gameplay 2 will allow players to turn their Android phones and tablets turn into fully customizable Virtual Controllers for games on PC.

Hack and slash through the Castle Crashers world with up to 4 friends using your touch devices!

“Version 2 allows up to four players to be connected for use in co-op and multiplayer games. While the Virtual Controllers can emulate the joystick, buttons, D-pad, and other controls of a standard game control, the easy-to-use drag and drop interface allows for so much more customization. Opacity, size, and sensitivity can all be adjusted and there are even game-specific skins available such as for Castle Crashers with each of the four controllers showing a unique color and character from the game.”

Read more about Gestureworks Gameplay 2 and see video footage on their blog post.

Check out the new GestureWorks Gameplay software that comes out this month! GestureWorks Gameplay's Workshop here.

Last month, we highlighted GestureWorks Gameplay on our blog because the new software allows virtual controllers on an Intel tablet to work with numerous PC games, including our very own Castle Crashers Steam Edition!

Gameplay even held a beta and we promised to give 50 randomly selected beta participants a free copy of Castle Crashers Steam (winners to be chosen by Ideum/GestureWorks Gameplay)!

Now is your chance to check out how this software works by clicking here. If this is something you'd like to see available on Steam, you can help by rating it up using the buttons on that page.

If you aren't convinced or just want some visual stimulation, here's a direct link to a video of Castle Crashers on Intel's new Bay Trail tablet using GestureWorks Gameplay: YouTube Video
