What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Dungeon Brewmaster is about empowering the player to control the narrative, so we want to make sure we provide all the tools they need to do that. The only way we can ensure we achieve that goal is by getting as much feedback from as broad a selection of experienced gamers as possible. We see there’s tremendous value in that. That’s why we’re excited to offer this game in early access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“As short a period as possible, but as long as it needs to be. No one’s more excited and more motivated to deliver the full version of DBM as we are. We will be in Early Access for roughly 6 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Hyperbole aside, the intended scope of DBM is pretty epic. We’re going to keep the exact same gameplay mechanics. You’ll still have the opportunity to play with your own custom brews or follow the spell book in the same inviting environment. The main update in the full version will be the extensive storyline that spans generations, if not centuries. We created a setting to allow for expansive storytelling. The Harbor Dues Dungeon Tavern is located in a bustling seaside port town that's frequented by visitors from all over the world. Friend of foe, these outsiders will pass through the taverns doors whether the locals like it or not. How you interact with them will determine how long they stay in town and ultimately direct the future course of history. Based on feedback and interest, we have a strong desire to add certain multiplayer features as well.

You’ll experience a whole world of amazing and unusual characters in a familiar setting. A place that we’re hoping will come to feel like a second home (or as much as a regular local pub does). You’ll interact with diverse, fully developed personalities from all walks of life. You’ll experience the rise and fall of Monarchs and Empires. You’ll witness the evolution and collapse of civilizations. All of which you influence… but nobody will suspect the humble Brewmaster… right?

Over time, as your magical ability grows, you’ll learn how to harness the passage of time, and even how to manipulate it. From that point on, the narrative will not be bound to a linear chronology.

Our aim for Dungeon Brewmaster is to combine the feeling you get from a familiar, friendly, neighborhood tavern with the power and excitement you get from a God game. It's definitely an unusual mix, but that’s what makes Dungeon Brewmaster such an unusual game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access version of DBM will have a sample storyline, where your actions drive the outcome. You’ll meet some of the locals and get to play with a broad range of Brewmaster tools and ingredients. It will also include a robust endless mode, in which you’ll have the ability to try out unlimited magical brews on infinite thirsty customers while unlocking new ingredients and tavern flair.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The extended storyline for DBM will require a large amount of high quality content; from unique character design, to original animations, to extensive voiceovers. To fund this we will need to raise the price of the full game. We’re committed to doing whatever we can to make this game accessible to as many players as possible without compromising the quality and integrity of the overall experience.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We really value the insight we can gain from experienced gamer feedback, so we’re going to explore different ways of gathering that information both as we develop the fully featured version of Dungeon Brewmaster and any future updates and expansions.”
