For the month of September I've been playing a variety of different games to see how particular mechanics impacted things in game. Development also has been silently chugging along for the entirety of the month in between play sessions. I've also been playing the hell out of NEVRDEAD in the unity editor to see what tweaks can be made to make the game more enjoyable and rewarding. I'll be working on side by side screenshots to show changes in progress within the first week of October. If you purchased the game or plan on purchasing it, definitely leave me some input within the community discussions on what you think could improve the game or that can be added!

Affliction - Corrosion

So, it's been awhile since I posted an announcement regarding the progress of development with Affliction. Worry not, as development has continued and in fact, has been going relatively smoothly.

I completely redesigned the intro to the game. Before, it was kind of sloppily put together and didn't feel "fluid" when play testing. The new version will come with several maps and different segments. It will also contain much more lore (early game background info) and more combat. It will also help new players by easing into the combat more smoothly as combat is and always will be difficult.

I (again) redesigned the HUD and have continued to improve the functionality of the interaction system.

AI continues to improve slowly but surely by increasing aggression and reaction.

As soon as I finish up redesigning the intro, I plan to release Affliction for Early Access.

The game is planned to be priced at $6.99 upon initial release and will launch with a week long 10% discount.

Last but not least, I wanted to give a huge thanks to everyone who has believed in us and supported our past projects as well as this one so far. We truly wouldn't be here without you guys! I have a lot of plans and see a lot of potential in this project. I hope you guys feel the same and join me to create another fantastic game!

Refined Progress Map a bit more

Update 1.05 introduces a little stronger detection of outside sources or programs interfering with the game (ie hacking/cheating) with my ZAC (Zax Anti-Cheat).

Shooting asteroids gives you slightly more points, especially when shooting the small asteroids and asteroid chunks (crumbles) than before. Also in recent update 1.03, you started collecting additional points immediately for picking up resources on top of the potential option for bonus points or money at the Galactic Space Hub between levels. Extra points means earning extra ships at 20,000, 50,000, and every 50,000 points after will be faster and easier now, so to balance this, you'll start each game with 1 less life, 5 ships instead of the 6 starting ships before this patch.

The floating death skull will now chase you more often, and remember that he cannot be shot or killed and if he contacts your ship, it will spawn a VDS! Note that at difficulty 1 (the challenge level you choose from before the game starts), contact with the floating skill will never spawn a VDS but instead spawn either a kamikaze space worm or a RSA (Random Shooter Alien).

Some code was also cleaned up to give the game a little additional optimization, but I doubt that will impact many players as this game isn't very demanding as it is.
