Splendid sopping survival sim Subnautica is off to an icy ocean in a standalone expansion named Below Zero, developers Unknown Worlds Entertainment announced today. This was once talked about as DLC but naw it’ll now be its own separate thing, entering early access “in the coming months”. UWE are keeping relatively quiet for now, showing a few concepts for new alien oceanlife while muttering “We’re still in early stages and nothing is set in ice”. That said, folks who don’t mind spoilers or potential disappointment can follow their public dev board to see all the wonders and horrors that may make it in. I’ve had a peek and ooooh!

Zombies, like ants, get everywhere. Unlike ants, they’re the subject of Far Cry 5: Dead Living Zombies, the shooter’s third and final DLC. It came out two days ago but I bet YOU didn’t know that, and I bet the promise of seven self-contained action movie scenes from various apocalyptic scenarios sounds alluring. Maybe. I might not bet much.

Ubisoft have also chucked in a New Game+ mode for the main game, which lets you start over with all the toys and perks you’ve unlocked – on a new punishing difficulty level, if you fancy it.

Still wildly popular to this day, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds has now seen multiple maps release in the past year or so. However, it’s rather difficult to forget the first. Erangel’s Russian inspired island is full of dense forests, abandoned towns and military complexes, and so many vantage points that danger could be around every corner. This guide will show you where to loot and tell you how to win.

Monster Hunter: World - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dave Irwin)

With Monster Hunter: World now being out on PC for a fair while, players are starting to get into the later game. However it can still be somewhat daunting for new players who are not as experienced. Console players have had at most a decade’s head start with new things being introduced steadily, though this is being widely seen as an optimised version of the previous games. There’s still a lot of concepts which can seem unnecessarily complex, so in order to ease the new and veteran players in a bit more, this guide will bring everyone up to speed with what to expect in this deceptively taxing game.

With so many materials on offer in Monster Hunter: World, it can be tricky to know exactly where to find the items that you need. Sure, the game has a wish list that you can assign items so it tells you when you find the materials needed to craft them, but they don’t tell you exactly where to find them. This guide will show you where to find them, whether they are on small monsters to be scavenged from or various points in the map to be collected.

The post-campaign of Monster Hunter: World opens up a new challenge for those wishing to take on even harder versions of the monsters in exchange for better rewards. These tempered monsters are harder to kill and require a bit of legwork to even get the chance to hunt them. It’s a little confusing as to how it all works, so this guide will take you through where to track them and how to get the decorations and Streamstones that they can often yield.

Are the items being obtained through hunts in Monster Hunter: World not good enough for you? Perhaps you didn’t get the decoration you needed to complete your set? Item melding could very well be the answer and this guide will take you through how to unlock it and how item melding works.

Despite Monster Hunter: World having a rather substantial set of monsters to fight, including Elder Dragons that will surely test your skills as a monster hunter, the console versions currently have a few monsters that are not currently in the game. Some are permanent additions, while others are limited time events and collaborations. This guide will go over some background information of the four monsters currently not available in the PC version, as well as tell you when they are coming.

Hello fans of militant isolationism, we have another Sengoku period videogame for you. It’s called Onimusha: Warlords and it’s coming out in wait. Onimusha: Warlords. That’s the game you love! That’s the 2001 samurai slice em up that you used to tell all your school mates about every time they mentioned Resident Evil and then they’d all turn away from you and pretend not to hear what you were saying. And it’s getting a remastered release early next year, say Capcom. I bet that makes you happy. And you know what? That’s good. You be happy.

Many of my mercenaries have died under arms, but Meinolf’s death was the only tragedy. While collecting a reward in the town of Birkenstrand, my band were approached by a townsman who insisted the kid was such trouble their best option was to foist him on me. My band, the Stalwart Standard, had a vacancy: the swordsman of the crew had died to a ghoul, so I outfitted this new, youngest member with partially intact and presumably bloody gear. Meinolf cost me just six gold, or one day’s wages, because just a few turns into his first battle he was dead. I sent him to block an enemy brigand on a ridge from moving forward and attacking down at my men, which he did successfully for two rounds before he was clubbed to death. The Stalwart Standard were hiring again.
