Greetings, fellow Wizardfolk!

In this Eventful Update (v0.06.00), we're breathing some adventure into the dungeon. We've added events to the game. These are non-combat encounters you can run into while exploring the dungeon. They will seem familiar to veteran roguelike deckbuilder players, but even for them, there will be some surprises.

In addition to that, we've added some highly requested features related to deck management. Check out the full list of changes below.


🪄 New Features
  • 🚪 Events: 10+ new non-combat encounters you can run into. Explore different options for surprising outcomes!

  • 🃏 Deck Thinning: Buy the Potion of Forgetting in the shop, or run into a secret event and sacrifice a card.

  • 💫 Sigil Management: There is now a sigil limit to your spellbook. Make tactical choices to replace your old Sigils with new, better ones.

  • ♣️ Reworked Deck Shuffling: The discard pile is only shuffled into the draw pile at the start of your turn, and only if there are fewer cards

👨‍🎨 Art Improvements
  • Many monster sprites have been updated into their beautiful final forms.

  • Door selection backgrounds for world 2 and 3.

  • New and improved ambient audio.

  • New art for certain card effects.

From Jonas: This update I've started to update the sprites to their final art style. So far I've just done a few monsters. The game will slowly transform into something darker and grittier.


Reworked Deck Shuffling

From Daan: Aside from that, we've made a bit of a departure from roguelike deckbuilder conventions. We've decided not to immediately shuffle your discard pile into your draw pile whenever you draw cards while it's empty. The reason behind this is simple. If you manage to build an infinite card draw engine (which is relatively easy and even more so with this update's deck thinning), the monster would essentially never get a turn.

We don't have an energy/mana system, so being able to keep drawing cards means you can keep casting spells. We like this approach, but the game becomes unenjoyably easy If you figure out that one trick. To combat this, we now only shuffle the discard pile back into your deck at the start of your turn, and only if there are fewer cards in your deck than you're supposed to draw.

We see it as a bit of an experimental feature, and would love to know what you think about it!

Q1: What’s the price of the game and what's included in the launch offer?

Q3: Will demo progress carry over to the full game?
A3: Unfortunately, no. The demo and full version are separate builds.


Q4: Is the game available on Mac?

A4: Not natively. However, you may be able to run the game using third-party tools such as Whisky or CrossOver.


Q5: Can I play with keyboard and mouse?
A5: Yes! Keyboard and mouse controls are supported, and key prompts are shown in-game.


Q6: Is the game playable on Steam Deck?
A6: Yes, it works well on Steam Deck and has been officially verified by Steam.


Q7: Does it support Xbox and PS controllers?
A7:

  1. Xbox: Fully supported, with in-game button prompts.

  2. PlayStation and other: Supported, but it may require setup via Steam input. Please go to Steam Settings - Controller, and:

  • Enable Steam Input for Xbox controllers

  • Enable PlayStation controller support

  • Enable Steam Input for Switch Pro controllers

  • Enable Steam Input for generic controllers


Q8: Is Steam Cloud supported?
A8: Yes, your progress will be safely saved even if you switch between devices.


Q9: How does multiplayer work?
A9:

🛋️Local / Couch Multiplayer:

Requires multiple controllers. For example, 2 players = 2 controllers; 4 players = 4 controllers.

*PS: You can't use "keyboard + controller" for 2P on the same PC, sorry. We'd really love to support this feature, and we actually tried a lot to make it work, but it's unfortunately very complex to implement with our current engine.

🎮Online Multiplayer:

Each player will need to own a copy of the game to play together online.

  1. After launching the game, select "Host Online Game" to create a room.

  2. A 6-digit room code will be generated. Share it with your friend(s)!

  3. They can then join by selecting "Join Online Game" and entering the code.

💡Tip: You can also try Steam Remote Play, which allows one player to host and others to join without owning the game. However, please note that this method may be less smooth than using the built-in online mode.


Q10: Is Steam Family Sharing supported?
A10: Yes!


Q11: Will you support a Friend Pass?

A11: Not at the moment. As a small indie team, we can't currently offer a friend pass, but we might consider it in the future if this kind of opportunity arises.


Q12: Are Steam Achievements available at launch?
A12: Yes!


Q13: Will there be modding or Steam Workshop support?
A13: Not for now, but we're open to exploring this in the future :)


Q14: Can I customize my dog's name?

A14: Not at the moment. However, we might explore more ways to add personality and customization to the dogs in the future!🐶


Q15: Is there a colorblind mode?
A15: Not yet, but it is something that we are very willing to include in the future versions. We'll be working on it.


Q16: Can I adjust my controller's vibration in game?

A16: You can toggle it in the Settings, but you can't adjust its intensity for now.


Q17: What if I don't have anyone to play with?

A17:

  • We have a solo mode, and you can freely adjust the difficulty in the settings to suit your playstyle;

  • Or you can join our Discord and check out #find-players channel to team up with others!

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed infinite loop on harvest screen.

  • Shadow Sickness Max Barrier penalty fixed.

  • Fixed the hide ui button working outside of debug mode.

  • Fixed many typos.

  • Fixed missing blossom masteries on certain techniques.

Modding
  • Buffs can now be set so each instance is independent of the others, allowing more granular counters and triggers.

  • Buffs can now intercept damage and modify it directly, before its applied to the player hp. This allows for conditional damage triggers, damage modification, and much more.
