Update

1. Stage 2-4 has been added.

2. The ability of Vant’s Legendary Item U5012 has been changed.

  • Basic attacks no longer throw rods, but instead summon a rod that pierces through enemies.

  • Now attacks up to 2 enemies. (New)

  • Damage: 200% of Energy Attack Power

  • Deals additional fixed damage equal to 50% of the damage after 1 second.

3. Item Drop Rate Changes

  • Rare item drop rate: 20% → 30%

  • Legendary item drop rate: 7% → 15%


Bug Fixes
  1. Fixed an issue where the challenge for Stage 2-3 could not be completed.

  2. Fixed an issue where Vulkan_V2’s energy would freeze in the air when no target was available.

Hey Friends,

The Fox, The Forest & The Darkness is a solo dev project by me, Will Leamon. I'm releasiing Chapter 1: Enter Fickle Pig on December 2nd more as a big bold beta test. I could really use your help! Please feel free to use the community features, forum in particular, to let me know how your play goes and of course let me know of any and all bugs you run into.

It's been a crazy year for me working on this project and to be honest I started my dev journey as a musician in game jams, moved on to environment design and then suddenly found myself obsessed with exploring every facet of making a game. I honestly don't know what came over me, but I am aboslutely amazed and joyful to be here and frankly stupefied that you are too! Thank you so much.

I hope you enjoy Chapter 1 and let me know what your thoughts are as I continue to update chapter 1 and slowly begin the work on Chapter 2.

Balancing

  • Enemy wave difficulty now scales with the world day.
  • Monsters summoned by the Summoner are now tamed instantly.

Bugfixes

  • Fixed an issue where the Summon Ally effect could spawn allies on the wrong side during combat.
  • Added missing localization label to castle storage panel for Asian languages.

  • Added more sticks on the first island to improve early exploration flow.

  • An experienced developer explained to me that I don't actually need an EULA when using Unity Analytics — a Privacy Policy is enough. So the EULA was removed, and the Privacy Policy is available on the Steam page.

  • Adjusted the shapes and paths of wind routes between islands to make navigation smoother.

Various balance updates:

  • Tweaked timings in several puzzles.

  • Adjusted the number of souls required to open certain portals.

  • Fishing has been made slightly easier.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a rare issue on certain hardware where players could not progress after the first cutscene.

  • Resolved missing music on some secret stone tablets.

  • Improved collision in multiple areas for smoother movement.
