Changes:
GAMEPLAY:
Now the player no longer accelerates when strafing on the ground. This was a remnant from when the game was an FPS, to enable bunny-hopping. To compensate, the base ground speed has been slightly increased.
The lock-on camera movement has been softened, making it turn less abruptly. Its precision is increased while aiming.
The health of some bosses has been slightly reduced.
Spinesnapper will now run two times instead of three; its locational damage modifiers have also been adjusted.
Invulnerable body parts (such as the front section of the Organ Grinder) now play a clang sound when hit.
Herald of the End dialogue changed.
The last entry of the bestiary can now be obtained without having a mission equipped.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Added inverted Y-axis option.
Crushing enemies to increase the damage you deal to them is now properly tutorialized.
The weapon swap button (R on keyboard, D-Pad Up on controller) is now properly tutorialized.
Now the tutorial will detect if you are using mouse and keyboard or a controller, and will only display the corresponding keybinds.
BUG FIXES:
Now jumping during a plunge attack will no longer cause you to jump and retain your plunging status.
Now having a controller plugged in will no longer completely override your camera controls, allowing you to still use the mouse.
Removed an interaction between the air attack of the katana and jumping that allowed the player to fly extremely fast.
We are dispatching the Commandos on their next mission: Shadows over Crete, the first DLC for Commandos: Origins, will release on November 18, 2025. In this new campaign, players will face the aftermath of Operation Mercury, the infamous German airborne invasion of Crete during World War II.
In May 1941, Nazi Germany launched the largest airborne operation in history, unleashing paratroopers across the sun-drenched island and plunging the Mediterranean into chaos. In the wake of this devastating defeat for Allied forces, the legendary Commandos are sent behind enemy lines with a desperate mission: forge an alliance with the fearless Cretan resistance, led by the fierce and loyal Eleni Andris, and ignite a campaign of sabotage, espionage, and guerrilla warfare against the occupying forces.
The new, self-contained narrative campaign spans four fully voiced missions, telling the story of the Cretan resistance and taking the Commandos squad from coastal villages and ancient ruins to a sprawling harbour city and even a fortified island inspired by Spinalonga. Facing them is a ruthless new enemy type: the ever-vigilant German Paratrooper units, who act as quick-response teams and descend suddenly onto the battlefield. They add a fresh tactical challenge, forcing players to adapt quickly and outsmart their foes with stealth and precision.
Commandos: Origins – Shadows over Crete deploys on November 18, 2025 on PC (Steam, Epic Games), Xbox on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PlayStation®4|5 for €14.99 | £14.99 | $12.99.

Hello commander!
We see Mars in the distance and are preparing for descent on November 10th. But before we land, we thought we could share some more details on the long term plans of our Prime Mission - the expansion pass included in Ultimate Edition.
As we look ahead to the coming year, we’re more inspired than ever to expand the possibilities of long term life (and success) on the Red Planet. Behind the scenes, the team at Haemimont Games has been hard at work mapping out the next steps for the game. The ideas have been many, but we now have a plan for the first year of content when Surviving Mars is Relaunched.
While we can’t share too many details just yet (some ideas are still being tested, tweaked, and passionately debated), we wanted to give you a first glimpse of what’s coming. Think of this as your first transmission from Mission Control, a teaser of the adventures that lie ahead. We will reveal more in the months to come, but for now, let's explore the first brief on the upcoming expedition: the Prime Mission.

In this devlog, we’re checking in with Dala K., a developer on the 100 Lives team focused on building flexible, behind-the-scenes systems that make the world feel dynamic—and help the rest of the team bring their ideas to life.
From implementing a full day/night cycle to creating smarter camera transitions and even experimenting with an NPC aging tool, Dala’s work is all about making Kingstown feel alive, responsive, and full of possibility.
Last week me and Alberto been working on a daynight cycle, so that you can revisit the same location during different times of the day. Next task is sadly not as exciting, since I will be just fixing bugs that come with every new feature.

I am really excited to soon work on our NPC Creator that can automatically age an character. In the end we will be able to just create one NPC and hopefully just hit a button to have the same character as a toddler, adult, and elder!
The most interesting challenge was working on upgrading our Camera's capabilities. We wanted something more than just having a static camera like alot of visual novels have. So we worked out a system that lets you stack different camera movements and call them through commands. It allows us to have endless possibilities of camera transitions, without having to code each movement from scratch.
All of these options in the character creator. I know some games might have even more options but I hope the Players will be able to see the potential in the assets we created and the Colors we provide.
I like to think the tools I create can help each department to simplify and streamline their work. I hope this give them the freedom to create what they actually want to achieve within their story or design, without ever having to restrict themselves because we are missing some extra Code for that.
Dala’s focus on tools and systems helps turn creative ideas into playable features—whether it’s revisiting a familiar location at sunset, watching a character grow over a lifetime, or simply enjoying a more expressive scene thanks to subtle camera movement.
As always, there’s more to come. We’ll be back soon with another devlog from the team. Until then, don’t forget to wishlist 100 Lives on Steam and keep an eye out—some of the best moments happen when you return to a place you thought you knew.

Dear friend,
We are strangers. So I must warn you—this letter puts you in danger. You will be declared a traitor. They will start persecuting you. They will ruin your life.
There is no turning back. If you are not ready to even think about it, drop this letter at once and burn it!
* * *
Still reading? Then my people who have been watching you were not mistaken.
You are one of us—a thought criminal, an outcast, an enemy of the secret masters of this world. Inside you burns the same fire that burns within us.
Who are “we”?
The whole City will tell you we no longer exist. That we are a shattered gang of murderers and vandals.
They will call me a traitor, an impostor. They will say not a single word of mine can be trusted. That I have long been dead!
Well, I will not argue the last point.
I write to you from a remote corner of our Republic—the city of Broken. I suspect the name means little to you.
But trust me: the monstrous things happening here will soon reach every street of every town. And there is no one to stop them but us.
I enclose a few photographs with this letter. Our people took them in secret.
I believe these pictures will show you, better than any claim, what happens behind the calm facade of Broken.
I cannot tell you more in this letter.
Only this—we need you here, in the City. The Conspiracy needs you.
I know you have many questions! If you do not falter and respond, I will send you more details in my next letter.
I look forward to your reply. What exactly do you need to know to join us?
I believe in you,
Your Dead Friend.

(The poll results will determine what the mysterious conspirator calling himself the Dead Man sends you in the next letter!)
Who are you? I need to know more about your Conspiracy and its members!
What challenges will I face in the City? And what skills will help me overcome them?
Who will I encounter in your City? Who lives there and what are their customs?
Should I prepare for armed struggle? Will I have to take up arms?
After months of polishing, tweaking, and sweeping (a lot of sweeping), the full game is almost ready to meet you.
We've been working hard on every part of it: new tools, new levels, and plenty of little details and easter eggs that make the world feel alive. Sometimes that meant long nights and no weekends, but it's all been worth it to get here.
