Hi everyone,

We're coming up to 5 years since Overcrowd went full release, and 6 since Early Access. How time files!

I wanted to drop a quick note to let you know we have updated our Steam developer profile. This is the hub on Steam that shows what games me and Sarah (SquarePlay Games) have made, but also what games we will be working on in the future.

As a small indie studio its not always the easiest to gain an audience, to put it mildly, and we'd love to take you with us on our gamedev journey. Personally, I tend to enjoy making a variety of game types, but there is always a chance we will return to a genre, or make a spiritual successor or even sequel to one of our games.

Finally moving to public release, in this update we have two new official campaigns!

The First:

God Games - A high-fantasy modern-day epic where different pantheons of gods (Greek, Norse, Egyptian, etc.) are real and vying for control over the mortal realm.

You'll start as the follower of a deity or pantheon of your choice set during an event known as the Pantheon Wars.



And the second campaign:

Forever DM: You take on the role of the Dungeon Master in a fantasy world. Even in a world of AI, you are still stuck in this role. For those of you who want to try out what it's like being a Dungeon Master / Game Master, or feel like playing around in the role, it'll be waiting.


Otherwise, we also now have the Campaign Creator available for use! There are some issues with AWS and the length of requests, but that is something I'm working on working with Amazon on the backend to fix.

In other news, I'm also working with Google to ensure that our usage of Imagen and other services continues to proceed without hitting quota! So look out for further backend improvements.

Casual Pro Wrestling - pdinklag

Trick or treat!

I made a promise way back that CPW would allow, in the future, any humanoid 3D model to imported to the game as a wrestler. The game has always supported this from the very beginnings, but there is a surprisingly big difference between "technically it's possible" and "modders can easily do it". This update leads us a huge step forward towards total craziness à la gmod. By the end of the year, I want to complete my promise and provide a toolset for modders to author 3D prefab wrestlers.

For casual players, this may not mean too much yet, but there's something for you, too! As a very simple showcase, the game now ships with a "Halloween" content pack that adds Skelly McSpook, a spooky scary skeleton to send shivers down your spine. He's a different breed and is the first wrestler to enter the CPW ring that didn't come out of CAW mode. Of course, he comes with a brand new entrance theme.

Before I give you the changelog, I wanted to thank people giving me some ideas and notions on the wrestling minigame. The Discord poll is closed, but the discussion is not. So far, while little less than half the players are completely fine with the current button mashing, a majority would prefer something different. Please continue to share your thoughts, I'll make a decision on what to try next soon.

So without further ado, the humble changelog for this update:

  • CAW: Added new entrance theme "3spooky5me". ☠️

  • Content: Added the CPW Halloween Content pack that contains an optional wrestler showcasing 3D model imports.

    • Skelly McSpook

Technical
  • Content: Content packs may now contain asset bundles and define wrestlers based on prefabs contained in those asset bundles.

    • This will be the modder's bridge for supporting any humanoid 3D models to be wrestlers in CPW.

    • Prefab wrestlers are defined in JSON files.

    • Movesets, attributes etc. will be editable in a restricted version of CAW mode.

    • Authoring tools and guides will be released separately at a different point in time.

We have a small treat for you. Patch 1.12 has just been released, which finally fixes the bug with obtaining the Order of Honour and Courage medal for 5 playthroughs of the game!

The essence of the bug was that two endings (we won’t spoil which ones) were not taken into account in the overall count of playthroughs.

So, all you need to do to get this medal:

  1. Update the game

  2. Launch

  3. If these endings are already unlocked, they will immediately be taken into account in the overall count of playthroughs, and if there are 5 or more of them, you will receive the medal. And if this is the last medal, you will also receive the War Hero achievement.

  4. If these endings are not yet unlocked, then from now on the count of playthroughs will work correctly.

In addition, the new patch includes a fix for the Unity vulnerability that was discovered in September.
