Dune: Awakening - Dune: Awakening

It’s time for another look at what’s happening across the sands.

The last time we talked about the future, we outlined several highly requested community features. Some of these features, such as the vehicle recovery system and the instanced Deep Desert loot, have already been implemented in the game. As always, we aim to share progress with you regularly. But, before we begin, we want to remind you that plans can change as we respond to player feedback and reassess development priorities. This flexibility is essential for ensuring the game evolves in the right direction.

Now, let’s get into the details.

Cargo Containers

One of the short-term improvements mentioned in our previous update was the cargo container for Carrier Ornithopters. The upcoming patch will enable the ability to travel between maps with harnessed vehicles, and we are excited to add the cargo container shortly after in our December update!

Player Event Log

Another change we want to update everyone on is the improved player logging system. Some of these enhancements were introduced with Chapter 2, and we plan to start rolling out more starting with Chapter 3. Our long-term goal is to expand the player log to record all meaningful in-game events, such as item withdrawals and deposits, resource refinement, building tool actions, etc. We’re also exploring ways to categorize logs more clearly to help you find relevant information faster and reduce the chance of missing key activity. Let us know about any specific events you’d like to see added to the logging system.

Game Balance

A different area we want to touch upon is game balance. Tuning skills, weapons, abilities, etc. is an ongoing process, informed by in-game data and your feedback. Some changes can be implemented quickly through smaller updates, while others—like the upcoming Rapier rework—require more time to get right. Regardless of scope, every adjustment is made with our broader design philosophies in mind. For instance, we aim to provide players with meaningful ways to disengage from combat encounters. This principle guided our recent tweaks to Crippling Strike: it’s now less punishing for those on the receiving end, with reduced stamina dash costs and increased dash distance, allowing for smarter, more dynamic escapes while maintaining tension and fairness in fights.

We encourage you to continue providing feedback on Discord, Reddit, and Steam by engaging in discussions with fellow sleepers about the things you enjoy and sharing any pain points that affect your gameplay.

Character Transfers and Server Merges

We’ve also seen questions about character transfers and server merges, so here’s where we are at. Character transfers are well underway, and if testing goes smoothly, they will be ready within the next few weeks. This feature will allow you to move your character, along with all your progress, inventory, and anything stored in your bank or backup tools, to a World and Sietch of your choice.

To make those moves easier, we will also introduce what we internally call a Base Backup Tool. This new tool lets you store your entire base, along with nearly all its contents, as an item in your character’s inventory. Whether you’re preparing to relocate or taking a break, the tool ensures that your hard work can either move to your new home or be safely stored until you return to discover new game content. You will be able to test it out on the Public Test Client next week and we’ll share details on how it works before the feature goes live, so that you can make the most of it.

As for server merges, they’ll follow soon after and by the end of this year, we’ll outline all the necessary information about this process. Several weeks will pass from that moment until the merging process begins, so that everyone has enough time to prepare. Stay tuned!

Chapter 3

Chapter 3 is the next major content update planned for Q1 2026. At its core, the goal for the next chapter is to enrich the endgame experience. The team is making excellent progress transforming the Landsraad into a contract-based system that offers repeatable PVE activities, expanding the character progression with specializations, crafting the next chapter in the main storyline, and much, much more. We can't wait to share more details about it very soon!

As mentioned in our previous development update, once these changes go live, we will start transitioning the Deep Desert back to its intended purpose as a sandbox area where players can compete for control of spice.

In the meantime, development continues across all fronts, including bug fixes, ongoing balance updates, and quality-of-life improvements based heavily on your feedback, such as the in-game vendor with past Twitch Drops that's arriving in the November update!

Please continue to discuss the game and ask questions on Discord, Reddit, and social channels. We monitor all these platforms, and your input continues to shape the world of Arrakis.

Thank you for your passion and support,

The new 2025 & 2026 Roadmap for City Transport Simulator!
With our new roadmap, we want to give you a detailed look at what we’re currently working on, what’s still coming later this year – and what’s planned for 2026.

We’re continuing several points from the previous July roadmap, but there are also plenty of brand-new features we’re revealing for the first time today. From new collectibles and expanded control options to major features like dynamic weather, temperature management, and ticket sales – City Transport Simulator is evolving, and that’s all thanks to your feedback!

New Collectibles in Tramau
Many of you have been wondering about the mysterious new collectibles we teased in the previous roadmap. Now we can finally reveal them: there are two completely new types you’ll soon be able to find in Tramau!

The Mug Collection
Our new collectibles are beautifully designed mugs celebrating public transport in different cities. Each design is unique, featuring the characteristic vehicles and style of well-known cities such as Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Basel, and of course, Tramau.

But the mugs aren’t just decorative: each one includes a small story about the history of public transport in its respective city.
Just like the previous collectibles, you’ll find these mugs in familiar vending machines scattered across the city – usually near bus stops or other major hubs.

New Bus Keychains
The popular keychains are also making a comeback – this time as bus keychains! After the tram keychains from Early Access became fan favorites, we’re expanding the collection with six new bus keychains.

They’re once again hidden throughout Tramau, waiting to be discovered. And who knows – maybe one of them even hints at which bus model will join City Transport Simulator next.

New Control Options and Improvements
2025 will not only bring new collectibles but also several of the most requested improvements for controls and gameplay.

  • 🕹️ Tram Crank Controller Support
We’re introducing an entirely new way to drive trams using a crank controller setup via gamepad, allowing for even more precise control.

  • 🎮 Expanded Controller Mapping
We know how important it is to fine-tune your controls to match your driving style. You’ll soon be able to remap even more functions – for example, assigning the parking brake to your preferred button.

  • ⚙️ Force Feedback for Xbox Wheels
PlayStation players already enjoy realistic force feedback, and now Xbox drivers are next! We’re currently implementing full support so you can customize the strength and feel through the same gameplay settings sliders available on PC and PlayStation.

A Small Year-End Surprise
2025 isn’t over yet, and we’ve got a few surprises in store! Just before Christmas, we’ll reveal another special feature – something a few of you might already have guessed if you’ve been keeping an eye on our Discord or the Steam forums.

2026: The Year of Weather – and More Realism
If 2025 brings a lot of new things, 2026 will open a whole new chapter. The roadmap for next year focuses on dynamic weather, deeper simulation systems, and brand-new gameplay features.

Dynamic Weather
Rain, snow, fog, sunshine, and wind – all of these will soon become part of daily life in City Transport Simulator. The new weather system won’t just change how the city looks and feels but will also directly affect vehicle handling.

Just like in real life, driving physics will adapt to the conditions. The city will also respond dynamically to the weather: passengers will wear jackets or carry umbrellas, and the entire atmosphere of Tramau will shift with the environment.

Heating, Air Conditioning & Working Windows
With weather comes a new challenge: temperature control.
All buses and trams will receive functional heating, air conditioning, and windows.

It’ll be up to you to keep the temperature inside comfortable – otherwise, passengers will start to complain!
This feature adds more depth to your daily operations, making you manage passenger comfort like a real driver.

Ticket Sales Are Coming!
A long-requested feature will finally become reality: ticket sales!

All buses will feature ticket machines that allow you to sell tickets, give change, and manage passenger flow. Ticket sales will be a core part of bus operations, adding a new layer of responsibility and interactivity.

We’re currently implementing multiple systems to support it, and we’ll share more details in early 2026 when we’re ready to show the feature in detail.

New Vehicles: KT4D and More
Of course, no roadmap would be complete without new vehicles!
One major highlight is the Tatra KT4D, developed in collaboration with SVF Frankfurt (Oder). This iconic tram, featuring acceleration control and pedal operation, brings a unique driving experience to City Transport Simulator.

We conducted extensive research over the summer and are already actively working on its implementation. Thanks to our close partnership with SVF, we can bring many authentic details into the game.

In addition to the KT4D, another new bus is in development – one many of you have been asking for. We’ll reveal more as development progresses.

Welcome to Vienna!
One of the biggest highlights of 2026 is the Vienna Add-On!
We’re bringing Austria’s capital to City Transport Simulator with an all-new internal system for creating maps. This allows for even greater accuracy and realism in buildings, streets, and traffic structures than ever before!

We’ll be recreating real Vienna tram and bus lines with authentic routes, architecture, and traffic systems. Fans of TramSim will be happy to see a familiar city return – only better and bigger than before!

We’re not ready to reveal which lines will be included just yet, but if you’ve been paying close attention to our teaser in June, you might already have a guess.

What Comes After?
Even beyond 2026, the City Transport Simulator franchise will continue to grow. Our new roadmap already includes several points we can’t discuss in detail yet – but we can confirm that some are already in development, while others are in planning.

You can look forward to new vehicles, deeper gameplay systems, and a richer Vienna experience, making City Transport Simulator an even more comprehensive transport simulation.

City Transport Simulator thrives on your feedback, ideas, and passion for public transport. Thank you for your ongoing support – we can’t wait to start this next chapter together with you!
