Take on The Maelstrom Cup this from the 22nd to 29th of November! Compete for free yacht skin packs in a bracketed tournament with leaderboards that reset every few days so every sailor, from ballasts to skippers will have their shot at glory.

Participation is simple: just complete at least 3 online fleet races to enter!

(Earlier art had listed a scheduled start date of the 6th of Nov but we have pushed this back to allow time for improvements)


Schedule

The Maelstrom Cup follows a 4-round bracketed format:

  • Bracket 1: Finish in the top 40% of the Bracket 1 leaderboard to advance.

  • Bracket 2: Finish in the top 30% of the Bracket 2 leaderboard to advance.

  • Bracket 3: Your place is secured in the Maelstrom Cup Final Leaderboard during Round 4!

Didn’t make it to Bracket 3 by the end of Round 3? Don’t worry sailors in Brackets 1 and 2 can still compete for the Legends Cup in Round 6.

In the finals (Aka Round 4), only the very best will claim the Cup. Top 3 positions win!

Each round begins at 1am CET and ends at 12am CET the following day (43-hour duration).

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers will receive:

  • A free yacht skin

  • A virtual trophy to commemorate victory

The winner will receive an additional in-game title "Maelstrom Cup Champion"

Additionally, all players who reach Bracket 3 automatically earn a trophy and in-game title (Maelstrom Cup Finalist) to mark their achievement.

Staff

Introduced staff system: you have five staffers whose primary function is boosting one of your five skills. Staff will also play central roles in future features.

  • Series of Staff-related RPG events

  • Staffer Management UI window that can be accessed via the HUD

  • Staffer mechanics

    • Staffer skills

      • Each of your 5 staff positions corresponds to one of the 5 skills (Charisma, Intelligence, Empathy, Discipline, and Stamina)

      • A staffer's skill level in their assigned area determines how much they boost your corresponding skill

      • Example: Your Communication Director's Charisma level determines how much your Charisma is boosted

    • Cohesion

      • How well the office is running. Impacted by your Discipline, your Chief of Staff's Discipline, and whether any staffers are onboarding. Offices with high cohesion provide bonus skill improvements beyond each staffer's base contribution.

    •  Morale

      • Influenced by a number of factors, including Energy (see below), your politician's skills and personality, and your staffers' personalities.

    •  Energy

      • A contributor to morale. Staffers' energy will slowly deplete over time. If their energy falls below a certain level, their morale will suffer.

    • Overtime

      • You can make your staff work overtime. This can be left on indefinitely, but it will drain your staffers' energy faster and increase the likelihood of a staffer quitting.

    • Vacation

      •  When a staffer's morale is low, you can send them on vacation. They will be gone for three weeks. Their skill boost to you will be reduced during this time, but they will return with their energy replenished and with a temporary morale boost.

    • Quitting

      • Congressional salaries make it difficult to retain staff long-term. Happy staffers will be less likely to hand in their notice, but even the happiest of staffers may unexpectedly take a job elsewhere.

Save/Load Politicians

You can now save and load your custom politician in the Character Creator.

  • Added a UI window to load your saved politicians from. Displays basic information about each politician.

  • Politicians are saved to a new folder in your root program directory.

Updated Tutorial System
  • Revamped tutorial system with two initial tutorials: Getting Started and Staff Overview

  •  New system highlights vital game components and features interactive to-do lists to guide you through mechanics

  •  Tutorials can be quit at any time and toggled on/off in the Options Menu

Triple Swap Tower - ayycat

Triple Swap Tower's release is just around the corner, and I want to share what will be in the full version versus the demo, as well as hint at what's coming in the future!


  • More areas and bosses

I wanted the demo to highlight the party building aspect, as well as being able to choose between different quests and bosses to venture on, all while letting players learn easily by seeing the same preset quests every time during the demo.

In the full version, the quest board will be populated by area-boss pairs that are randomly selected. There are 9 different areas, and 5 different bosses, so there will be more choice and variety. In addition, there will be 3 unique "final quests" that you can go on, cranking up the excitement and difficulty for the finale.

  • Tons of heroes

With varied parties being a core piece of the game, there will be 12~ heroes on release, with plans to add at least a handful more down the road.

I want players to get excited at the possibilities when they unlock someone new, how they can fit them into a party, or how they can make that one odd hero work. Some heroes have more support oriented abilities, like the Paladin and Sorcerer, while others go for full carry potential like the Warrior and Rogue.

  • A BOATLOAD of items

In the demo, there were 25 items present. In the full game, there will be about 45. You'll now be finding new items from visiting areas and defeating bosses. I am hoping that adding new ways to get items will add some replayability and discovery moments, while also being able to design rarer, more situational or powerful items.

Something I want to avoid is diluting the item pool through updates unless I find ways to add new item drops without modifying the current item-delivery systems. I want to try to avoid overloading the player with tons of items and choices.

  • Achievements

I want achievements that reward self-imposed challenge runs, as well as a handful that are just for fun. Obviously I'll have milestone achievements, but I don't want you to have to grind for them. I also don't want such a huge amount that it feels daunting for players to try and go for a 100%. I hope you enjoy hunting for them as much as I enjoyed making and testing them out!


That's all I've got at this moment for the full release. It's full steam ahead for me! I have some ideas for possible content updates down the road, such as separate play-modes, more characters, new items, and potentially even some secrets.

  • The issue with the portafilter and cup detection on grinders and espresso machines has been fixed.

  • The availability of pitchers in the shop has been fixed. They are now available to purchase from the start. Old saves will be updated automatically.

  • The Order Delivery System has been updated to prevent players from encountering any issues when placing orders.

  • The issue of saves not being deleted or displayed correctly has been fixed.

  • The textbox issue in the feedback panel in-game has been fixed.

Soko Spectacle - jebouin

Thanks everyone for playing Soko Spectacle!

I have released an update that adds an "Extra" menu with more content:

  • Demo: 10 new levels from the demo that showcase mechanics from the base game. These levels should be quite easy if you've already completed the game. They can be played after the "Classy" outfit has been unlocked.

  • Halloween: 28 new halloween-themed levels. These levels are a bit more challenging and use new mechanics and ideas that didn't make it into the initial release. They can be played after the "Mummy" outfit has been unlocked.

Mouse controls

The game is now fully playable with mouse! I don't usually play block-pushing games with mouse, so please let me know if you encounter any issues with the controls.

Localization

The game is now available in 8 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese! The language can be set from the settings menu.

This is to make it easier for the game to share new demo saves with the full game. For now the old files are kept to make sure no saves are lost during the transition, they should be safe to delete after you've launched the game once.
