RTM - The Last Days Playtest - 󠀡󠀡

Part 4 of our major update series is here! This update brings several improvements and additions aimed at making the game more immersive and laying the groundwork for future systems.

What’s new in this update:

  • Revamped Map Design: The layout and design of the map have been improved to enhance immersion and make space for new gameplay systems.

  • Laboratory Added: Blast doors and tunnels have been removed due to confusion and lack of purpose. In their place, a laboratory has been introduced, enriching the game’s lore and serving a role in the game’s ending.

  • Cargo System: You can now unload cargo from the train using the levers on the dock pillars. Currently, crates are purely functional, but more features will be added in future updates.

  • Game Intro: A new introduction sequence has been added to guide players into the game world.

  • Main Menu Enhancements: Enjoy new music and an improved layout for the main menu.

  • UI Improvements: The user interface has been refined for better clarity and usability.

  • New Symptoms & Sounds: Several new symptoms have been added. For example, NPCs with a cough symptom will now occasionally cough.

  • Stethoscope Functionality: You can now use the stethoscope to listen to the breathing of NPCs you are examining.

This update is focused on improving immersion, gameplay clarity, and laying the foundation for exciting new features in future updates.

Colony 37 - Valen

Hi everyone!

This update brings a rework to player consumables and the way players use them. Based on the feedback and after watching a couple of gameplay videos, I've noticed that while consumables give players a chance to bypass complicated in-game moments, they were very cumbersome to use. Players had to constantly rebuy consumables, and the majority of people (myself included) kind of forgot to do that or just didn't bother at all. So I've reworked the way consumables are handled.

Right now, instead of buying charges for a consumable, you're unlocking it and all of the charges are restored automatically over time. This hopefully will make the game slightly easier in places, while keeping it somewhat (I'm afraid to use this word) balanced.

Changelog:

- Reworked consumables.

Pretty much all of the previous consumables were removed (disabled), and 24 new consumables were added. The majority of them are variations of the past consumables, but they should be a bit more balanced with a new "charge" system.

- Added maximum falling velocity.

- Slightly increased fall distance before taking damage.

Both of those changes should make falling damage a bit more manageable. And, if you have enough health, you're able to survive even the longest fall.

- Hitting a ceiling with your head now removes all upward velocity.

- Block placement distance is increased by approximately 90%.

- Added tooltip appear/disappear animation.

- Tooltip now properly scales in width instead of the inner text.

- Unloaded blocks now have collision.

This change is experimental. It was intentional to keep unloaded blocks without collision for optimization purposes, but that idea had a lot of... flaws. The player's death camera was flying straight through the ground, projectiles did pretty much the same thing, and so on and so on.

Items:

- New item: Rusty Sprinting Module. Hold \[SHIFT] to increase the wearer's movement speed. Consumes energy.

I'll be adding more movement-related items down the line.

- New item: Rusty Wrench. Has a 10% chance to dismantle "player-created" blocks, retrieving the block's instrument.

- New item: Wrench. Has a 25% chance to dismantle "player-created" blocks, retrieving the block's instrument.

I'll improve the dismantle mechanic even more, but right now, technically, you're able to pick up all of the placeables from the ground if you're lucky, that is.

- New item: Glowstick. Throwable light source that persists for 60 seconds.

- New item: Flare Gun. Gun that shoots light sources that persists for 60 seconds.

- New item: Builder's Schematic. Increases block placement radius by 2.

- "Resource Teleporter MK-3" auto sell chance decreased from 14% to 10%.

- "Resource Teleporter MK-2" auto sell chance decreased from 8% to 6%.

Auto sell chance was extremely good at what it did. With two of these items, you were completely set in terms of cash flow, and it felt really busted, so I had to tweak the values back slightly to keep it in line with other choices.

- Small Dynamite. Energy to use increased from 10 to 25. Damage increased from 15 to 20. Damage is decreased by how far the target is situated from the explosion (up to 25% of the original damage).

- Big Dynamite. Energy to use increased from 50 to 75. Damage increased from 30 to 40. Damage is decreased by how far the target is situated from the explosion (up to 25% of the original damage).

Ah yes, the dynamite. If I were to say it needed a nerf, I would be greatly understating it. I've added a "damage over distance" system that should hopefully make dynamite just as good at destroying low-HP blocks, but at the same time, have its effectiveness reduced against harder blocks.

Bug Fixes:

- Fixed an issue where "No localization" message was appearing for some of the resources.

- Fixed an issue where sometimes bullets were flying the wrong way.

- Fixed an issue where "Throwing rock" was playing a hit sound effect upon throwing it.

- Slightly fixed an issue where unloaded blocks had holes (will improve this behavior even more).

- Minor additions and changes.

Battle your way into Eastern Solstice with Update 48 and Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2, now live on PC/Mac.

Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2 is now live on PC/Mac and arrives for Xbox and PlayStation consoles November 12.

Continuing the saga that began with Part 1 in June, Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2 sees you and your allies venture into the grim region of Eastern Solstice to finally put an end to the Worm Cult’s dread schemes for the besieged island.

Note that access to the new region and storyline requires the conclusion of the Battle for the Writhing Wall for your server—check out this event page for your server’s status.

This latest adventure is part of the 2025 Content Pass and 2025 Premium Edition, both available now. This release also features the Update 48 base-game patch, introducing a series of changes and fixes, including the addition of a brand-new event (more on that below)!

Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2
In Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2, you can continue your story as you venture into a new region of the island of Solstice. As mentioned above, access to the region and storyline requires the completion of the Battle for the Writhing Wall event on your server first.

Eastern Solstice

Discover new dangers and mysteries in Eastern Solstice, previously divided by the Writhing Wall, and explore a fractured, long-suffering land twisted and consumed by fragments of Coldharbour itself.

Venture into Eastern Solstice

In the second half of the Solstice zone, you can contend with new world bosses, explore new delves and a public dungeon, encounter the enigmatic local Stone-Nest Argonians, and fight to ouster the entrenched cultists.

A Saga’s Conclusion

The wall has fallen, and the Stirk Fellowship marches eastward! Help your allies strike at the heart of the cult’s operations on Solstice in the concluding questline of the Seasons of the Worm Cult saga.

Join old allies to finish the fight

Note that to unlock the full story questline, the Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 main quests and the “Crossing the Wall” story quest must be completed first.

Dread Rewards

As you delve deeper into Eastern Solstice and uncover its myriad dangers and mysteries, you’ll unlock a host of new rewards. These include new item sets, collectibles such as the Scythe Knight outfit style, the Eminent Slothcerer pet, and more.

Unlock these eminent rewards

Purchase Details & Requirements
Access to the Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2 is included in two editions of the game, the 2025 Content Pass and 2025 Premium Edition.

Both editions are available for purchase now and feature a whole year’s worth of adventure, including:
  • Fallen Banners dungeon pack (now live)
  • Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 (now live)
  • Feast of Shadows dungeon pack (now live)
  • Access to the Writhing Wall event (now live)
  • Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2
  • A unique mount, pet, and memento
In addition to the above, the 2025 Premium Edition also includes access to the game and ALL of ESO’s previous Chapters. For a full breakdown of everything included in both editions, visit the Content Pass page.

Getting Started
Note that once Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2 (and Update 48) are live, you won’t be able to access the new region and storyline until the Battle of the Writhing Wall one-time event is complete. Specifically, your server must have at least one clear of the Phase 3 Writhing Fortress dungeon before the way is open. Check the official page to see your server’s progress and do your part!

New dangers await within Eastern Solstice

Once access to Eastern Solstice and Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2 is open, you can continue your adventures in the following ways:

Venture East

Once the wall has fallen, simply venture east to begin exploring the second half of the Solstice zone. The first wayshine you will encounter on your journey is the Grand Juncture Pass Wayshrine, but you will need to find and unlock it first!

Via the Seasons of the Worm Cult Main Quest

If you have completed the Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 main story quests and the “Crossing the Wall” story quest (accessible at the Stirk Fellowship camp in Solstice), you can continue your saga with the quest titled “The Worm Turns.”

Note that while the zone features a sequel story to the ESO base game, there are no level or story requirements for continuing your Seasons of the Worm Cult adventure. You can play with a new or existing character.

Update 48
Included with the Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2 and Eastern Solstice, the Update 48 base-game patch introduces new fixes, balance changes, and additions to ESO. All current ESO players can enjoy the following features since they do not require any additional purchase.

Heart’s Week Event
Update 48 brings an all-new in-game event to Tamriel! During Hearts Week in February, the Belkarth festival grounds will now be home to the priest of Mara, Kuzam-jo. During the event period, Kuzam-jo will offer new quests, celebrating and spreading the word about Tamriel’s Heart’s Day holiday.

Share the love in February!

This new event will feature passive bonuses to Companion XP and rapport gains, plus feature their own reward boxes that can include pages of a new style. Most notably, the Heart’s Day reward boxes will have a chance to grant you gold-quality Companion jewelry. This event won’t go live until February 2026, so look out for more details then!

New Life Event Update
In addition to the brand-new event, Update 48 also breathes new life into one of ESO’s classic in-game celebrations. This December’s New Life Festival will feature eight additional daily quests, taking place all over Tamriel. This is in addition to a new style and player house rewards. Look out for more details closer to the start of the holiday season!

Leaderboard Updates
With Update 48, to create a more unified and fair experience, all the game’s leaderboards (except for those in Cyrodiil) are now account-based. As a result, you will only have one entry per leaderboard (your highest score). This change also removes class-specific leaderboards.

Combat Animation Memory Reduction

Update 48 also introduces some changes that help reduce the size of combat animations to reduce the impact on the game’s memory. This change should not have any noticeable impact on in-game visuals and zero impact on your ability to light attack weave or animation cancel.

For a complete list of everything included in the Update 48 base-game patch, check out the patch notes on our official forums. Don’t forget, these additions are free for all current ESO players.

The Battle Is Not Over
With your help, the Writhing Wall will fall, but the battle for Solstice will continue. Are you ready to venture into the second half of this mysterious island and put a stop to the Worm Cult’s horrifying schemes? Let us know via Bluesky, X (formerly Twitter)Instagram, and Facebook.

Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2 and Update 48 are now live on PC/Mac (Eastern Solstice access pending the conclusion of the Battle for the Writhing Wall event) and arrive November 12 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
