War Thunder - Blitzkrieg Wulf

Today we’re taking a look at a new tank coming to the higher ranks of Chinese tech tree: the fast and wheeled CM-34 IFV with a 30 mm Bushmaster cannon!

Vehicle History

In 1985, a joint project with Irish company Timoney Technology was launched to develop the CM-31 mechanized IFV vehicle. Due to its failure to meet requirements, the project was canceled, but in 2002 it was revised, resulting in the development of the CM-32 “Clouded Leopard” prototype.

The vehicle was tested with various types of armament, and in 2017 the project was revealed to the public in an expo in Taipei with the American Mk44 Bushmaster II 30 mm automatic cannon, designated the CM-34. After upgrading its armor protection and electronics, the vehicle entered serial production in 2019 and became the backbone of the motorized infantry.

Introducing the CM-34!

The CM-34 Yunbao, or “Clouded Leopard”, is coming to China’s ground forces tree at rank VI. This is a light and wheeled reconnaissance vehicle with a good top speed, excellent electronics and an effective 30 mm Bushmaster cannon. Let’s take a look at this vehicle in today’s dev blog!

Firstly, let’s dive into the armament of this light tank. It features the 30 mm Mk44 Bushmaster II automatic cannon, which many of you will already be familiar with from other light combat vehicles in other nations. The rate of fire of this cannon isn’t the highest in the world, but the available belts are excellent! Right from the get go, you’ll have access to an APDS belt, with the first researchable belt being the HEI-T, which is good for destroying vehicles with no armor, and also aircraft. The final and best one against enemy tanks that you can research is the APFSDS belt, which can penetrate the sides and rear of any ground vehicle at its rank. The cannon has a stabilizer and another great modification to get is the laser warning system and laser rangefinder (LWS/LR) and thermal imager for all three crew members.

The CM-34 is built on an 8x8 wheeled chassis, and the suspension has a reduced turning radius compared to its prototype. You’ll also be able to speed around in this light vehicle thanks to its top speed of 100 km/h going forward on paved roads, and up to 40 km/h in reverse. Its power-to-weight ratio is quite good, so there shouldn’t be any performance issues, although you should avoid deep mud, snow and sand if possible.

The first concept of this vehicle had little armor, so the CM-34 had some refinements in this area. The production variant featured add-on armor made of composite materials, however overall this vehicle not capable of withstanding most tank rounds. There are also just three crew, leaving less chance of surviving any significant hit.

That’s it for this one! The CM-34 will fit perfectly into the mid to late rank VI vehicle lineups and will become a key vehicle in fast-paced play while capturing points, fighting in urban battles and scouting in open locations. Is Anybody There? - Aleksey Krivoshekov

We continue to develop the game and make improvements to the demo. Thank you for your feedback, which makes it easier for us to enhance the player experience. Below is a list of the key changes in the demo version of the game.

  • Added camera sensitivity setting.

  • Added the option to invert the Y-axis.

  • Improved the antagonist's material settings.

  • Reworked the chase section. It is now easier to identify the incorrect path.

  • Added new graphical elements in the corridor.

  • Reworked the system that prevented movement during certain story scenes.

  • The particle system near the speaker in the protagonist's room is now more responsive to calm, quiet music.

Terra Firma 2 - mehwoot

On Monday the 29th of January, 2018 I wrote the very first lines of code for a project I called "land". It was meant to be a simple little project that I could knock out fairly quickly and get some experience actually finishing and releasing a game. How wrong that was- it wasn't quick, or simple, and really "water" would have been a much better name anyhow.

Well, 8 years later we've finally made it! It took 2,746 code commits, around 5,000 hours of work, 65,000+ players of the free version providing valuable testing and feedback, and approximately 89 trillion deer running around infesting your worlds but the day has finally arrived. No longer constrained to play Terra Firma for free, you are now able to play Terra Firma 2 in exchange for your hard earned money.

A sincere thank you to all the people who made this possible, most especially all of you on steam who provided your support. The game literally, actually would not be here without your encouragement and validation of the concept I had for this game.

But that's all history now! Looking forward there is still a ton of features and content I want to add and your support of the game will allow me to do that with 100% of my focus. I've decided to release the game as "Early Access", to convey a committment on my part to keep working on this project. I hope the 4 years I've been doing so in public on steam without taking payment shows how seriously I take the committment should you choose to purchase the game.

Welcome to another update that offers improvements to structure block building, introduces the ability to deploy multiple Techs in Creative Mode and adds more structure block variants, as well as other quality of life improvements.

Improvements to structure blocks attachment
  • The algorithm for determining how structure blocks attach to each other has been improved to provide a more intuitive building experience.

  • It should be easier to build a tile of platform blocks away from you, even though you can't see the Attach Points.

Tech placement and allegiance switching
  • In Creative Mode, you can now place additional Techs in the world via Tech snapshots.

    • Select a Tech snapshot, click the "Deploy" button and place new Tech in the world.

  • Techs can be set to be controlled by the player, set to neutral, set as an enemy or packed away.

  • This allows other players to test drive any Tech that isn't controlled by a player.

Camera focus on a Tech or structure block enhancements
  • An icon is now displayed when attempting to focus the camera on a Tech or structure block that's too far from the player's Tech.

  • You can now change the block that the camera focuses on, even if you're holding a block on your cursor.

  • A black band around the block indicates a face with no attach points.

Structure blocks colour revisions
  • Structure machines, which were predominantly yellow with orange detail, are now predominantly orange with yellow detail, to make them more visible against yellow platform blocks.

UI improvements
  • Added block nudge position controls in place of block rotation controls in the bottom ribbon.

  • Some of the block filter icons have been updated to improve readability.

  • Structure category icons have been updated to improve readability.

Colour text for key words in onboarding text (Work-in-progress)
  • Colour text is now used to bring key words to the attention of the player in the onboarding text.

  • This is an ongoing effort for English and for non-English languages.

Bug fixes
  • The following bugs should now be fixed in this update:

    • Some glyphs in onboarding text for non-English languages were showing incorrect markup text instead of the glyph.

Just a small patch this week where we address some of the more urgent issues with the demo while the team is focusing hard on the Early Access launch. In one hour, the servers will be going down for the update for roughly 15-30 minutes.

Patch Notes 0.31.0:

  • Fixed a bug where taunted weapons would be prioritised over other taunted items depending on their placement on the board.

  • Frienzied Bottled Spirit: Health bonus decreased on level 2 and 3 (now 1/1/2)

  • Pilgrim’s Plume Cap: Health bonus decreased to 2/4/6
